[Bug 1886230] [NEW] Thinkpad P1 Gen2 HDMI doesn't work after log out or reboot
Public bug reported: I have a Thinkpad P1 Gen 2. This specific machine was customized to NOT have a discrete Nvidia GPU. It ONLY has an integrated Intel UHD 630 GPU. This is not a hardware issue as Windows seems to handle things correctly. With an external monitor connected via HDMI, boot proceeds OK with the external monitor displaying the boot process. I log in to a Gnome session using X. After login, I am able to open the display settings GUI and set mode to "single display" with the built-in LCD disabled and the external monitor enabled. This works correctly. However, if I then reboot the machine with the external monitor connected: 1. Boot proceeds correctly with the boot process shown on the external monitor. 2. After login, the external monitor is powered off and the built-in LCD is enabled. The "display settings" GUI shows the external monitor as a connected "Unknown Display" with the wrong resolution of 1024x768. Attempting to use the GUI to set "single display" as above results in the external monitor still being powered off, and the built-in LCD also powered off. I have to press esc to cancel the display changes. At this point, the relevant output of `xrandr` is: DP1 connected 1024x768+3840+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 600mm x 340mm 1024x768 60.00* 800x600 60.3256.25 848x480 60.00 640x480 59.94 DP1 is the HDMI output, and it is listed at the wrong resolutions. If I disconnect the HDMI cable then run `xrandr` again, the output of `xrandr` is unchanged: it still lists DP1 as connected (!) even though the cable is disconnected. This bug also occurs if instead of rebooting, I simply log out and log back in again. The only solution appears to be to unplug the HDMI cable, shut down the machine (not reboot or log out), power on, log in, and at the desktop plug in the HDMI cable. At that point it works again. Rebooting does not solve the issue. It seems that a complete shutdown is required. I tested on Ubuntu 20.04's stock kernel 5.4.0 and also kernel 5.7.7 and the issue is present on both versions. [Bug 1886080] Re: lxd cloud_tests fail to export images on latest/stable
I think `lxd image export` is still able to produce the usual files, but it stopped accepting a directory as a target (I'll file a bug, let's see). So a different fix could be changing directory to output_dir and then running `lxc image export`. I think subp() doesn't support changing directories, but this could be done with a `sh -c` or something. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1886080 Title: lxd cloud_tests fail to export images on latest/stable To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cloud-init/+bug/1886080/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Any update on this? We are using FIDO MDS to verify attestations and only get useless fido-u2f type attestation statement (no aaguids included) with Firefox on Linux. This works fine in Chrome. [Bug 1886229] [NEW] Clicking "Install" with .deb gives no response when APT in use
Public bug reported: The problem description If I open up a .deb file to install the package, it opens up the gnome-software GUI window, with the install button. If the package manager APT is in use somewhere, either you left an "apt upgrade" running in the background, or there's some APT process running in the background, meaning that the lock is acquired by another process, clicking on the "install" button will do nothing. It will get stuck on a random % of progress and then just do nothing, no installations, no errors. If you let all the APTs finish, or kill existing processes to release the lock, the install button works fine. What I expected to happen: == I expected it to check for a running instance of the package manager, check if the lock is free and then generate a pop-up/dialogue-box telling me that the package manager is in use, instead of randomly misbehaving with no output, which is bad user experience. I'd recently encountered this bug and it was very frustrating for quite a while until I figured out why it was happening and wanted to report it. [Bug 1878225] Re: Please remove lxd.snap from lxd images, as it fails to seed thus failing the first boot - snapd.seeded.service waits forever (?) to have snaps seeded in LXD on s390x and arm64
@stgraber The "weird adt environment" is the autopkgtest infra we use for gating packages to prevent regressions sneaking in to the release pocket. LXD is not a .deb package but a snap so we can't gate regressions as part of the standard Ubuntu classic process, but at the moment it is somehow part of the snaps installed on images by default. The reason for adding the tests-in-lxd test to systemd is to ensure that new systemd versions work well running LXD and being installed in LXD container at the same time. Upstream changes frequently introduce LXC specific minor regressions thus I believe this test helps making the user experience better. If you see something in the aforementioned new test that is not expected to work, please state that. Otherwise please triage the failure that we are observing consistently on the autopkgtest infra. The easiest way of reproducing the problem is clicking on the "♻" links on this page: http://autopkgtest.ubuntu.com/packages/systemd/groovy/amd64 I agree with @xnox that snapd.seeding must not block boot indefinitely and I also believe that snap upstreams (LXD here) most ensure fixing problems affecting Ubuntu classic to have the privilege of being seeded on images. Shipping LXD as a .deb would also resolve the problem it is causing here by being a snap to be seeded inside the LXC container and the autopkgtest infra could gate LXD regressions again. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1878225 Title: Please remove lxd.snap from lxd images, as it fails to seed thus failing the first boot - snapd.seeded.service waits forever (?) to have snaps seeded in LXD on s390x and arm64 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/auto-package-testing/+bug/1878225/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
