[Bug 1886330] Re: pulseaudio not working in Virtualbox

2020-07-06 Thread BertN45
Pulseaudio was running, but the music did not start. It stayed in the
initial position. I have the impression that Firefox creates the
problem. The music in quodlibet played. I stopped it and I started
Firefox to play a music video from youtube, it did not play. Afterwards
quodlibet stopped playing music also.

Remember I only have the problem with Xubuntu and with none of the other
Ubuntu flavors.

I attached the journal.txt file.

[Bug 1884458] Re: pytz mishandles Africa/Khartoum in 2017

2020-07-06 Thread Stuart Bishop
The (awful) API provided by pytz and the requirement for localize() is
there for legacy reasons. At the time, it was the only way to get the
Python datetime library to do what was needed to get cross-timezone, DST
aware arithmetic working. The future is the new built-in support in
Python 3.9, available as a backport to earlier Python versions at
https://pypi.org/project/backports.zoneinfo/

[Bug 1886245] Re: BCM20702A bluetooth mouse freezing for 4-9 seconds

2020-07-06 Thread Sam Srzen
So what i have done since is:
Downloaded and copied the firmware as advised by You-Sheng Yang (vicamo).
Rebooted and then tried again, time was slightly less in waiting.

I then removed blueman again just in case that was giving issues and
reattached the mouse via bluetooth (reboot again) with the same result.

And on the issue with the touchpad, it works fine, i also disabled it
via the bios and used a wired mouse and that works fine.

I'll be getting another wireless mouse to test tomorrow.

[Bug 1871721] Re: Second Monitor on HDMI blank screen/blink screen with Nvidia + Intel & Ubuntu 20.04? (ASUS Laptop)

2020-07-06 Thread Noctis Bennington
** Description changed:

I installed Ubuntu 20.04 on my ASUS laptop with Intel+Nvidia with propietary
drivers of Nvidia (I have 440.64 rn) and I connected a second monitor to use
it, but I saw that I cannot use it, I just see a blank screen. I tried with a
TV of my room and same. The funny part is when I start the laptop to work, I
can see the logo of my BIOS and the ASUS logo in the second monitor, even the
grub, but after that I can't see nothing.
When I reduce the resolution of the second monitor (800x600) then works, but
even with that sometimes blinks to black again.
On W10 for example it works perfectly, so I deduce it's not 'cause my HDMI.

I tried with nouveau drivers and I have the same results btw.

  Laptop Asus with:
  Graphic card Nvidia GTX960M
  Processor Intel i5 6300

I tried with Nvidia Prime to Nvidia, Intel and On-demand. None of them
works. All of them with Xorg.

  I have this with xrandr:

+ PD: When you select a specific resolution, the second monitor "works",
+ but it blinks, the image showed via HDMI on the second monitor blinks.
+ So is impossible to work with it. Since all this time I was searching
+ about this and I'm almost sure this is a problem of the GPU's Intel. But
+ I saw this problem on askubuntu just with laptops with hybrid graphics.
+ Always with Nvidia+Intel. (Maybe AMD+Nvidia too, but I'm not sure if
+ they have the same problem here).

[Bug 1886330] Re: pulseaudio not working in Virtualbox

2020-07-06 Thread Daniel van Vugt
I can see a few issues in the log from your VM:

1. Buggy audio in the VM's kernel driver (says pulseaudio):

jul 05 11:05:21 VM-Xubuntu-2004 pulseaudio[1406]: ALSA woke us up to write new
data to the device, but there was actually nothing to write.
jul 05 11:05:21 VM-Xubuntu-2004 pulseaudio[1406]: Most likely this is a bug in
the ALSA driver 'snd_hda_intel'. Please report this issue to the ALSA
developers.
jul 05 11:05:21 VM-Xubuntu-2004 pulseaudio[1406]: We were woken up with POLLOUT
set -- however a subsequent snd_pcm_avail() returned 0 or another value <
min_avail.
jul 05 11:05:21 VM-Xubuntu-2004 pulseaudio[1406]: Disabling timer-based
scheduling because running inside a VM.

2. More problems with the VM's kernel driver:

jul 05 11:05:28 VM-Xubuntu-2004 pulseaudio[1406]: Unable to set sw params:
Permission denied
jul 05 11:05:28 VM-Xubuntu-2004 pulseaudio[1406]: Failed to set software
parameters: Permission denied
jul 05 11:05:28 VM-Xubuntu-2004 pulseaudio[1406]: Error opening PCM device
front:0: No such file or directory
jul 05 11:05:28 VM-Xubuntu-2004 systemd[1399]: pulseaudio.service: Succeeded.

3. A couple of kernel crashes apparently relating to running out of
memory in the VM.

So I suggest:

  * Giving the VM more memory.
  * Running fewer apps in the VM.
  * Configuring the VM with a different type of virtual audio device (if you
can).

[Bug 1886395] [NEW] Groovy update: v5.7.7 upstream stable release

2020-07-06 Thread Paolo Pisati
Public bug reported:

SRU Justification

Impact:
The upstream process for stable tree updates is quite similar
in scope to the Ubuntu SRU process, e.g., each patch has to
demonstrably fix a bug, and each patch is vetted by upstream
by originating either directly from a mainline/stable Linux tree or
a minimally backported form of that patch. The following upstream
stable patches should be included in the Ubuntu kernel:

[Bug 1886115] Re: libseccomp 2.4.3-1ubuntu3.18.04.2 causes systemd to segfault on boot

2020-07-06 Thread Alex Murray
Ok, since I can't reproduce this locally, if you are interested / able
to help with debugging it, could you please attach the core dump. Or if
this contains potentially sensitive details, you could install the dbg
versions of the packages and reproduce the crash and this would provide
a more complete stack trace.

[Bug 1883898] Re: version 3.20.6 turns off plugin requirement for most printers

2020-07-06 Thread shivani mandora
Hi zdenek,

Could you please provide the printer model name you are using?
HPLIP does not need to install plugin in order to print. It only requires
plugin in order to scan.
Previously, few entities in models.dat had remained as plugin=1 , which has
been removed in 3.20.6 release.

Also plugin has nothing to do with python version. It will work on
python3 as well.

Please install plugin via ,
$sh hplip-3.20.6.plugin.run

[Bug 911981] Re: tracker-store uses 100% cpu and fills all the disk space in home partition

2020-07-06 Thread Pedro Guimarães
Using focal desktop and I am seeing the same issue.
I was seeing tracker-store and tracker-miner-fs taking an entire core of my
notebook.
Tried: tracker reset --hard and reboot.
Did not work for me.

Only effective solution was to disable search engine on "Settings".

[Bug 1886404] [NEW] Ubuntu 16.04 nodes getting hung without any error logs and reboots

2020-07-06 Thread Prayank Saxena
Public bug reported:

Hello Guys,

In one of the Ubuntu nodes we have kernel 4.13.0-36-generic
#40~16.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Fri Feb 16 23:25:58 UTC 2018 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64

We have 3 Mon nodes and 20 Data Nodes Ceph Cluster and have installed
ceph version 14.2.8 (2d095e947a02261ce61424021bb43bd3022d35cb) nautilus
(stable)

On Monday around 04:36 AM IST, one of the Data Node hung and got rebooted
around 05:03 AM IST. Same issue occured in 3 different Data Nodes on different
days and time prior to this.
While checking osd logs there were heartbeat logs got generated when other DN
was in hung state. Checked syslog as well but couldn't find anything unusual.
After reboot of the node below messages were logged :

[Bug 1881586] Re: Add support for the new NVIDIA -server driver series

2020-07-06 Thread Alberto Milone
** Description changed:

  SRU Request:
+
+ [Impact]
+
+ The ubuntu drivers tool requires support for the new NVIDIA -server
+ series (introduced by LP: #1881137)
+
+ As already made possible when passing in the "--gpgpu" to the "install"
+ argument, ubuntu drivers should be consistent and allow specifying a
+ driver series regardless of whether the --gpgpu argument is used or not.
+ The new parser code takes care of this.

  [Test Case]

  1) Enable the -proposed repository, and install the new ubuntu-drivers-
  common (0.8.4~0.20.04.1).

  2) Check that specifying an NVIDIA driver flavour works (e.g. "ubuntu-
drivers install nvidia:440", if your card is supported by the driver)

  3) Restart your computer, and see if everything works correctly when
  accessing the desktop.

  4) Remove all the nvidia drivers:
  sudo apt-get --purge remove '*nvidia*'

  5) Test the auto-detection:
  ubuntu-drivers install

  6) Restart your computer, and see if everything works correctly when
  accessing the desktop.

  7) Check that the correct driver was installed for your card:
  ubuntu-drivers debug

  [Regression Potential]
Medium-Low. The new code should not affect the current functioning of the
ubuntu-drivers tool.
-
- __
- Add support for the new NVIDIA -server series to the ubuntu-drivers tool.
-
- Also add support for specifying a driver series (as already possible
- with the --gpgpu argument, for computing use cases).

2. open focal-proposed channel and "sudo apt update".

3. sudo apt install xserver-common xserver-xephyr xserver-xorg-core
xserver-xorg-legacy xwayland

4. reboot

5. the new packages installed:

[Bug 1856485] Re: ERROR neutron.manager [-] Plugin 'calico' not found.

2020-07-06 Thread Neil Jerram
Python 3 support was added in Calico v3.15
https://docs.projectcalico.org/release-notes/#v3150

The master networking-calico code now supports Python 3, and no longer
Python 2. There is a 'release-v3.15-python2' branch that still supports
Python 2, but we are hoping that maintenance of that branch can now be
short-lived.

[Bug 1846699] Re: Missing mechanism in Glibmm that prevents the support of some themes (CSS) in Gtkmm

2020-07-06 Thread Alejandro Claro
Can anybody look at this issue?

We have a patch to solve this in the Ubuntu 18.04 package (version
v2.56) and we are also able to compile and use version 2.60. However, we
will like to be included in the official distribution files. This
simplifies our deployment.

If we provide the patch of the upgrade to v2.6x will anybody review it?
