since this ticket was opened without specifying a certain Ubuntu release, it
was assumed that it got opened for the Ubuntu release that is currently in
development - which is in this case 20.10 / groovy.
And since groovy includes valgrind 3.16.1, that already incl. the fix mentioned
now it freezed before login only, Ubuntu is showing for past 15 mins.

I have rebooted using the rc6, rc7 and rc8 versions of kernel 5.4. All
three booted OK, although I noticed an error message "intramfs unpacking
failed, decoding failed" when using rc7. I also tried kernels 5.4.28 and
5.4.41: 5.4.41 booted slowly, with the error messages from the sound
system.
`stage-packages libdrm-intel1` still fails despite skipping the build
steps. Needs a selector to skip it on !amd64/i386.

I have a freshly installed 20.10 system running on a 2012 MacBook Air
(MBA 5,2) and it is completely silent and cold when being idle:

Hi, sorry for not replying. I don't own the L390 anymore.
But I can confirm this happened with a vanilla installation and with TLP
installed. There was no difference in the behaviour.
I also believe this is not a problem only affecting the L390.

Hello! Seeing that this is priority for the OEM team, I'll conditionally
release this early - and on a Friday (oh no!). The problem with this is
that we'd have to make sure that if this does regress anything, there is
someone to react quickly during the weekend. I'll be available, but I'd
@mlw I my last test the fix survived a reboot though I did not few
months ago.
