[Bug 1892855] Re: [Potential Regression] hyperv_connections / hyperv_stimer / hyperv_synic failed on B-i386
A Bisect shows: 40ed11e0049a5856848e59a6275ba08b734accc8 is the first bad commit commit 40ed11e0049a5856848e59a6275ba08b734accc8 Author: Jon Doron Date: Fri Apr 24 14:37:40 2020 +0300 x86/kvm/hyper-v: Explicitly align hcall param for kvm_hyperv_exit BugLink: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1885176 [ Upstream commit f7d31e65368aeef973fab788aa22c4f1d5a6af66 ] The problem the patch is trying to address is the fact that 'struct kvm_hyperv_exit' has different layout on when compiling in 32 and 64 bit modes. In 64-bit mode the default alignment boundary is 64 bits thus forcing extra gaps after 'type' and 'msr' but in 32-bit mode the boundary is at 32 bits thus no extra gaps. This is an issue as even when the kernel is 64 bit, the userspace using the interface can be both 32 and 64 bit but the same 32 bit userspace has to work with 32 bit kernel. The issue is fixed by forcing the 64 bit layout, this leads to ABI change for 32 bit builds and while we are obviously breaking '32 bit userspace with 32 bit kernel' case, we're fixing the '32 bit userspace with 64 bit kernel' one. As the interface has no (known) users and 32 bit KVM is rather baroque nowadays, this seems like a reasonable decision. [Bug 1893909] Re: Xorg crash
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps: 1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run: ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug. 2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine. Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please send the links to us. 3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921, reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1. Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security risk for yourself. ** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) => xorg-server (Ubuntu) ** Package changed: xorg-server (Ubuntu) => ubuntu ** Changed in: ubuntu Status: New => Incomplete ** Summary changed: - Xorg crash + Crash -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1893909 Title: Crash To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1893909/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1880305] Re: Failed to mount Windows share: Software caused connection abort
I tried to apply the work-around given here (min client protocol), but am having trouble. It works if I put it into ~/.smb/smb.conf or /etc/samba/smb.conf. However, for various reasons neither file is really appropriate in my case. Instead, I would like to add it to a file that is included from /etc/samba/smb.conf. My /etc/samba/smb.conf looks like this: include = /usr/share/samba/smb.conf include = /usr/share/tait-config/ttde-smb.conf include = /etc/samba/user.conf If I include the work-around in the [global] section in /usr/share/tait- config/ttde-smb.conf, it is being ignored. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1880305 Title: Failed to mount Windows share: Software caused connection abort To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/1880305/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1893624] Re: Ryzen 4800u, kernel 5.8.5 boot errors (AMD-Vi, ACPI, HDCP, Bluetooth)
Yes I figured that out, managed to uninstall and remove the default kernel (5.4) and the 'bad' one (5.8.5). Only 2 minor issues remaining: 1) Brightness setting is not persistent after reboot (it was with 5.8.5). When I turn brightness down using the quick keyboard button, it goes immediately to almost lowest, so the % of brightness is stored in the OS, but the screen itself booted with max brightness. 2) Hibernation does not work: $ sudo systemctl hibernate Failed to hibernate system via logind: Not enough swap space for hibernation Even though my /swapfile is 6.4 GB (40% of 16GB) and only 20% of my RAM is in use. Not big issues, since I can adjust brightness and I can use suspend. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1893624 Title: Ryzen 4800u, kernel 5.8.5 boot errors (AMD-Vi, ACPI, HDCP, Bluetooth) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1893624/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 1870736] Re: [nvidia] Screen scaling 125% gives 200%
Honestly, the only way to get anything approaching reliable "fractional scaling" that I've found, is to lower the resolution of the smaller monitor by a ratio similar to its relative screen size. e.g. in my case, I have two 4k monitors (one external, one a laptop monitor) where the laptop monitor is about 1/3 of the physical size of the external monitor. Dropping the internal monitor's resolution from 3840x2160 to 1920x1080 finally makes everything the same size on both screens - without any slow down - only it's a bit of a waste of a 4k display :-/ On 11.05.20 21:55, Timo wrote: > Having the same issue... > But the tmp fix, posted by kristo on 2020-05-06 works great for me too: > Browsers, my IDE (Intellij Idea), Slack, Thunderbird, the terminal, they all > scale very well. > I increased the size of the mouse pointer, the dock icons and the icons in > nautilus as well. Looks like the patch 90a9b102eddf "powerpc/pseries: Do not initiate shutdown when system is running on UPS" got upstream accepted with v5.9-rc2, but it's already integrated in groovy's kernel 5.8 (Ubuntu-5.8.0-18.19) via the v5.8.4 upstream stable release ticket LP 1893048. [Bug 334577] Re: cpufreq : abnormal cpu frequences range used
I need to add a correction to my previous comment about the cpuinfo frequency error. I have now realized that the cpuinfo frequency in the attached image from the recovery mode was significantly above the maximum CPU frequency of 3,100MHz. So the CPU frequency before and after the recovery mode is in error and makes me wonder the location used to get these values. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/334577 Title: cpufreq : abnormal cpu frequences range used To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cpufrequtils/+bug/334577/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1893906] [NEW] smbclient ignores included config files
Public bug reported: Hi, since upgrading to Ubuntu 20.04 I cannot gio mount or otherwise connect to my companies' samba shares due to them requiring the NT1 protocol. Adding client min protocol = NT1 to ~/.smb/smb.conf works, but I need to deploy this to a largish number of managed machines. The file /etc/samba/smb.conf on these machines looks like this: include = /usr/share/samba/smb.conf include = /usr/share/tait-config/ttde-smb.conf include = /etc/samba/user.conf where /usr/share/samba/smb.conf is the config template shipped with samba itself, /usr/share/tait-config/ttde-smb.conf contains config overrides that are deployed via a locally built and hosted config package (the file itself is not a dpkg config file so will get silently rewritten when we update the package) and finally, individual machines' users can customise the config in /etc/samba/user.conf. Unfortunately adding client min protocol = NT1 only works in the first included file but not the second where we really need this to go. It seems that there is a bug in the included config file parser somewhere. ubuntu-bug requested me to include this information though I'm not sure how relevant it is: seb@eragon:~/Documents/work/Terminals[0]$ smbclient -L localhost Enter WORKGROUP\seb's password: Sharename Type Comment - --- print$ Disk Printer Drivers HomeDisk /home on eragon IPC$IPC IPC Service (eragon server (Samba, Ubuntu)) Reconnecting with SMB1 for workgroup listing. smbXcli_negprot_smb1_done: No compatible protocol selected by server. protocol negotiation failed: NT_STATUS_INVALID_NETWORK_RESPONSE Unable to connect with SMB1 -- no workgroup available ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 20.04 Package: smbclient 2:4.11.6+dfsg-0ubuntu1.4 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 5.4.0-42.46-generic 5.4.44 Uname: Linux 5.4.0-42-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.11-0ubuntu27.8 Architecture: amd64 CasperMD5CheckResult: skip CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME Date: Wed Sep 2 19:24:03 2020 EcryptfsInUse: Yes ProcEnviron: TERM=xterm-256color PATH=(custom, no user) XDG_RUNTIME_DIR= LANG=en_NZ.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SambaClientRegression: Yes SourcePackage: samba UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: samba (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug focal -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1893906 Title: smbclient ignores included config files To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/1893906/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

To do so I replaced /etc/resolvconf/update-libc.d/squid with a debug hook that waits on me: echo "DEBUG DEBUG DEBUG" echo "would call 'invoke-rc.d squid reload' now" echo "instead wait until /tmp/foo was touched" f="/tmp/foo" start=$(date -r $f); new=$(date -r $f); while [ "$start" = "$new" ]; do sleep 2; new=$(date -r $f); done; echo "DEBUG DEBUG DEBUG" Once that is active "systemctl reload squid.service" hangs as it is in the error case. I must say that I love to hate the old complexity of the sysV<->systemd change. - /etc/init.d/squid is generated into a service - dnsmasq hook calls: systemctl reload squid - that calls: /etc/init.d/squid reload - which calls: /bin/systemctl --no-pager reload squid.service This is back to step #2 one would think :-) But if at the broken time I directly call "/bin/systemctl --no-pager reload squid.service" I get the same behavior with less redirections: 4 02159 0 20 0 21608 2800 wait Ss ? 0:00 bash 0 053122159 20 0 26588 2364 poll_s S+ ? 0:00 \_ /bin/systemctl --no-pager reload squid.service 0 053145312 20 0 15404 840 poll_s S+ ? 0:00 \_ /bin/systemd-tty-ask-password-agent --watch But when this happens /run/systemd/ask-password is empty. [Bug 1893921] Re: ipsec_offload in rtnetlink.sh from kselftests.net fails on s390x
This is caused by the fix for bug 1890136, where this test case is reporting false-negative results. With that bug fixed, it's reflecting the real failure in this sub category. And this specific failure can be found in 5.4.0-45 s390x as well, so this is not a regression. ** Also affects: ubuntu-kernel-tests Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags added: 5.4 focal sru-20200831 ubuntu-kernel-selftests -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1893921 Title: ipsec_offload in rtnetlink.sh from kselftests.net fails on s390x To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-kernel-tests/+bug/1893921/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
