[Bug 1894356] [NEW] could not acquire name on session bus by simultaneous login by XDMCP and keyboard
Public bug reported: This symptom is observed with Ubuntu Mate 20.04. 1. Create /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf.d/10-xdmcp.conf as [XDMCPServer] enabled=true and restart lightdm. 2. Login as a normal user from keyboard. 3. Login as the same user as 2 from XDMCP gives "Could not acquire name on session bus" and I cannot login from XDMCP. Without Step 2, XDMCP login succeeds. The same symptom is reported at https://github.com/neutrinolabs/xrdp/issues/1559#issuecomment-623977001 which recommends removal of "dbus-user-session" Ubuntu package. It can't properly expand directories with spaces when there are multiple options when using some commands. But, providing the name of the file to be patched when prompted (/usr/share/bash-completion/bash_completion) made it work and after I sourced the new file the issue was fixed. Ok, after a few starting hiccups, I managed to get our management system to support groovy and install a VM. I have only tested the behaviour of the workgroup setting with smbclient -L localhost since it does not rely on any external servers etc. I can confirm that the behaviour is unchanged in groovy (samba version 2:4.12.5+dfsg-3ubuntu3). Comment #5 indicates that 4096M of memory was used for test and I wonder how much memory was used in the test on scaleway mentioned in comment #7. The Ubuntu autopkgtest infrastructure by default runs on systems with 2G of memory. So this ELAN touchpad's HID reporter descriptors could be read and parsed but it couldn't be started at all since no HID reports are received. Now the only way I can think of to tackle this issue is to install Windows Driver Kit to capture HID reports to see what reports are sent/received from/by the Windows driver while playing with the touchpad under Windows? But my laptop comes with the Synnaptics touchpad, I couldn't do this on my own computer. Is it possible for you to do it for me? After some investigation, seems we were able to narrow down the issue. * tl;dr: After the upgrade of the PPA builder to Bionic, the memlock limit (ulimit -l) was bumped from a ridiculous low value (64) to something bigger (16M). Happens that cryptsetup then succeeded in its call to mlockall(), so all allocations got restricted by such limit, which is still a bit low and it ends up leading to allocation failures. When the limit is very low (like in Xenial), the lock procedure fails, and cryptsetup allocations are not subject to this restriction, so everything just works. See section "Conclusion" for alternatives on how to fix this * Details: I manage to reproduce that by collecting the luks2-validation images in a local environment, running a Bionic VM + LXD (a Focal container). (a) We could increase the builders memlock limit to 64M - Focal has that as a default now. This seems to me the proper approach, given that in real life cryptsetup is performing the memory lock, so we should exercise it like that during the build tests. (b) It's possible to fallback to the same scenario of Xenial builder by _reducing_ the memlock limit and having cryptsetup not setting the memory lock at all during the build. The bonus of this approach is its simplicity - we can decrease such limit from the package itself, but at the same time, we don't exercise the real life usage anymore during the build tests. It added the word 'ubuntu' to the mapfile: "keyword_map": { "ubuntu": "obfuscatedword0" } Possible issues: 1) On the 2nd obfuscated sosreport, I still noticed 'ubuntu' in some files: - installed-debs - sos_commands/dpkg/dpkg_-l - sos_commands/snappy/snap_--version I realize this was a trick word and not a real-world example, but wanted to point it out. 2) I started from scratch, I created a new report, obfuscated it again, this time I did NOT pass any keywords, but it still obfuscated the word 'ubuntu' (and reported it in the mapfile). Is there a cache or something I need to clean up from the previous run? If so, probably needs to be documented. Public bug reported: After booting Ubuntu Desktop installer, if you press F2 to select another language for the installer, the text for Persian language is displayed entirely wrong (see the attached screenshot). This is most probably since the bootloader (maybe ISOLINUX?) could not show bidi-rtl- text properly. Other bidi-rtl languages avoided this issue simply by showing the language name in Latin alphabet at this stage (e.g. Arabic). Persian speaking users would either miss that option, or will avoid selecting it since they assume that the entire Persian translations would be broken. I would like to change the master volume, or whatever my common laptop controls do when I up/down the volume controls on my earphones, like it happens on Windows 10. Why does the erroneous behavior of being unable to set volume from my earphones happen? 2) Every time I boot or reboot my system and leave the earphones on, without unplugging them, i.e. when Ubuntu boots with the headphone plug already occupied, I don't get any sound from my headphones, no matter how much up and down I turn the volume (from my laptop sound controls), i.e. the sound bar moves up and down and I hear no sound. I have to unplug and re-plug my earphones and only then does Ubuntu recognize them and ask me to select "Headset/Headset with mic/Mic". How can I fix it, so that I don't have to replug every time I boot? Public bug reported: When migrating from the Kernel 5.4.0-42-lowlatency to 5.4.0-45-lowlatency my Graphic card stopped working properly. My second Monitor went dark. even little things like moving the mouse was just a slide show. When using Grub to load with the previus Kernel (5.4.0-42-lowlatency) my Graphics card worked just fine again. My Bios version is "heavily outdated" as I was told. I'll try to update it to V2.13 soon, maybe that helps run newer Kernel in the future.
