[Bug 2028158] Re: [SRU] Duplicate Device_dax ids Created and hence Probing is Failing.
Source: https://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/memory-hotplug.txt How to online memory When the memory is hot-added, the kernel decides whether or not to "online" it according to the policy which can be read from "auto_online_blocks" file:: % cat /sys/devices/system/memory/auto_online_blocks The default depends on the CONFIG_MEMORY_HOTPLUG_DEFAULT_ONLINE kernel config option. If it is disabled the default is "offline" which means the newly added memory is not in a ready-to-use state and you have to "online" the newly added memory blocks manually. Automatic onlining can be requested by writing "online" to "auto_online_blocks" file:: % echo online > /sys/devices/system/memory/auto_online_blocks This sets a global policy and impacts all memory blocks that will subsequently be hotplugged. If this is enabled by default then the following should achieve the same goal as disabling the config option: echo offline > /sys/devices/system/memory/auto_online_blocks -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2028158 Title: [SRU] Duplicate Device_dax ids Created and hence Probing is Failing. [Bug 2061739] Re: crash in meta_wayland_transaction_commit
Please try using apport-cli if ubuntu-bug fails, but I guess both might fail if any packages are out of date. I'm guessing this crash is due to some extension because nobody else is reporting it, and because you seem to have so many extensions installed. And because the crashing code seems to be called directly from some Javascript. So please try removing gnome-shell extensions from the system. ** Changed in: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2061739 Title: crash in meta_wayland_transaction_commit To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/2061739/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2061936] [NEW] Chrome starts, but runs wild in the bg (never gets to the screen). chromium works fine.
Public bug reported: This started today. The chrome snap was automatically updated (updates to chrome have been arriving fast). After the update, chrome started failing: * Clocking on the launcher succeeds, but nothing pops up to the screen. The UI freezes (can't even updated htop on a term). * Right clicking on the launcher icon, followed by choosing Quit restores responsiveness, but there is no chrome. * chromium launches fine. [Bug 2061929] Re: Python docker page does not import: No module named 'distutils'
I've been doing some checking, and it looks like this is because Python 3.12 (the default python3) no longer includes distutils. See https://docs.python.org/3.12/whatsnew/3.12.html (the first paragraph under the heading "Summary – Release highlights"), as well as PEP-0632 (https://peps.python.org/pep-0632/). I figured this out when I tried downgrading the package to the version in Mantic (5.0.3-1ubuntu1): `dpkg` complained that it depends on `python3-distutils`. That led me to searching for the package in Noble, and getting to this point. (Adding the `regression-release` tag. Apologies if this is the wrong regression tag to apply!) BTW, this isn't affecting Debian 12 because they're using Python 3.11, the last Python version to include distutils in the standard library. Debian sid is currently on Python 3.11.8, so they haven't hit this issue yet. As for upstream, looking at PyPi (https://pypi.org/project/docker/#history), 5.0.3 was the last of the 5.x series. Their latest versions are 6.1.3 and 7.0.0. Their changelog page (https://docker-py.readthedocs.io/en/stable/change-log.html) does not explicitly say when they moved away from distutils, but from Git commits it looks like the removal happened in https://github.com/docker/docker- py/commit/42789818bed5d86b487a030e2e60b02bf0cfa284, which was included in the 6.0.0 and later releases. So, what to do in the meantime? According to PEP-0632, Setuptools adopted distutils, and this started to happen in Setuptools 48 (https://github.com/pypa/setuptools/issues/417#issuecomment-653593796). Since the python3-setuptools package in Noble is newer (68.1.2-2ubuntu1), probably the best workaround is for `python3-docker` to depend on `python3-setuptools`. == Regression details == Discovered in version:5.0.3-1ubuntu1 Last known good version:5.0.3-1 ** Bug watch added: github.com/pypa/setuptools/issues #417 https://github.com/pypa/setuptools/issues/417 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2061929 Title: Python docker package does not import: No module named 'distutils' To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/python-docker/+bug/2061929/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2061920] Re: Sync golang-1.22 1.22.2-2 (main) from Debian unstable (main)
I have synced this for you. However, we are in Beta Freeze and this is a seeded package so the package will wait in the unapproved queue until a member of the Ubuntu Release Team decides whether it is appropriate for this feature to be accepted now. [Bug 2061930] [NEW] linux-nvidia-6.5_6.5.0-1014.14 breaks with earlier BIOS release, and modeset/resolutions are wrong
Public bug reported: There are a gigantic number of changes in 1014.14 compared to 1013 I suspect some of the aspeed fixes have been undone, the mode is now... not what it was before, looks like it's falling back to 1024x768. [Bug 2061927] [NEW] Gnome Online Accounts setup removed from gnome-initial-setup
Public bug reported: Per LP: #2049513, Online Accounts integration was removed as opposed to finding a downstream solution, which would have been as easy as using the default web browser instead of a webkitgtk-powered popup. Unfortunately, even though potential ideas were tossed around during the Ubuntu Flavor Sync at Ubuntu Summit 2023 in Riga and the following flavor sync online, obviously nothing ever came to fruition. This issue is especially important to Edubuntu as one of its target audiences (teachers) want to be able to set-up their systems for email right away. gnome-initial-setup would give them that email setup out-of- the-box. This is a User Experience regression and a solution needs to be found even if we need to implement one downstream. ** Affects: gnome-initial-setup (Ubuntu) Importance: High Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2061927 Title: Gnome Online Accounts setup removed from gnome-initial-setup To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-initial-setup/+bug/2061927/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 2060817] Re: gnome-initial-setup hardcoded to Ubuntu branding, not overridable
I'll rephrase: We discussed keeping GOA in the mix of things able to set-up in gnome-initial-setup downstream, but that didn't happen. I was pretty adamant about keeping that feature. That didn't happen. And yes, that needs to be a separate bug. I noticed today that Kubuntu's menu's lacking a hibernate option.
