[Bug 59314] Re: Knot2 Desktop CD Blank Screen / Hangs
I believe I have the same problem, was a showstopper for me as well, I have an Ati X700 PCIE in my laptop. But the screen did not go blank, but first displayed lots of vertical lines, then lots of horizontal lines before giving up and displaying a badly mangled X dialog that X couldn't be started. anyway, shouldn't safe mode still use vesa drivers instead of ati? The open source drivers have never really worked for me, and I doubt they will in the near future. ** Description changed: Binary package hint: gdm Hi to all. I have ubuntu dapper running on AMD athlon 64 2800, kernel is 2.6.15-26-amd64-k8. Quite often my gdm crash when I press the x button in upper right corner of a window. The desktop freeze but other tools (ie music player) continue to work. Resource id is not always the same, it changes each crash. Also I find other logs always with the same time than gdm log, in user.log appears some lines like in the attachment named user.log, actually these lines appear also in a log called messages, But I don't know if there is any relationship between the two events. - I hope to find a solution for this because it make the system very + I hope to find a solution for this because it makes the system very unstable. [Bug 49977] Re: After kernel upgrade to 2.6.15-25 X server cannot find nvidia module
nvidia-glx depends on the virtual nvidia-kernel-1.0.8762 provides. This is provided by the various linux-restricted-modules. If no linux- restricted-modules is installed, it will just pick the first it finds (2.6.15-23). If you had linux-386 installed all would work because linux-386 depends on the latest linux-image-386 and linux-restricted-modules-386. [Bug 59688] Re: screensaver starts when movie plays
I'm on gstreamer and standard setup. I'm thinking that I had CTRL+ALT+BACKed before watching the movie, got some error messages when logging back in, and the interface was all weird, like GTK1. So maybe something was just not working right. I'll play the same movie today, and if I can't reproduce it I guess you can disregard this bug. -- screensaver starts when movie plays https://launchpad.net/bugs/59688 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
