[Bug 50981] Re: Palm synchronization unreliable
I believe this information is related to this bug: When I start gpilotd manually in a terminal, it runs fine and I never have a problem syncing. When it is started by opening the app at System -- Preferences -- PalmOS devices, it syncs fine until I close that window. Once I close that window, gpilotd crashes on the next sync attempt and must be killed with -9, then restarted. When it is started by that GUI app, the process info is: ryan 5530 0.2 2.1 68136 10924 ?Sl 02:38 0:00 /usr/bin/gpilotd --oaf-activate-iid=OAFIID:GNOME_Pilot_Daemon --oaf-ior-fd=51 If I start it manually with gpilotd --oaf-activate- iid=OAFIID:GNOME_Pilot_Daemon --oaf-ior-fd=51, it still works fine... so I guess all I can contribute is that gpilotd crashes when it is started via the GUI and the GUI is closed when a sync attempt is made. -- Palm synchronization unreliable https://launchpad.net/bugs/50981 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 28647] Re: sbp2 hot plug causes hard crashes
Jose, check if sbp2 was loaded with serialize_io=1. This is loggeded in a file under /var/log/. It should be (and it is the default) as it is currently required for some devices and setups. Also, check if there are messages from sbp2 about reconnect attempts during normal I/O. This may be logged in the same or a different /var/log/ file. You can check in /etc/syslog.conf where kern.debug-level messages go, or just grep -ir reconnect /var/log. There should be _no_ reconnect messages except when something was plugged in or out. Furthermore, try to find out the type of bridge chip on the FireWire enclosure's PCB. It may be possible to update the firmware of this chip. [Bug 60888] edgy knot3 installs without asking for a username
Public bug reported: I had a System running Dapper with 4 Partitions: hda1 / hda2 /home hdc1 swap hdc2 /home/base During the installprocess using edgy-alternate-i386 i choose to format hda1 for a complete fresh system, keeping my user data on hda2 and hdc2. The installdisk forced me to also format swap, which is no problem. After that I left the room for edgy to install, and visited from time to time to confirm language, keyboard layout, video resolution, etc. After all was done edgy bootet up to the login screen without ever asking me for a desired user name during the instal process. So I have no username for a login. My old username from dapper doesn't work (/ has been formatted). root does never work. [Bug 60893] Server Kernel update (47) prevents booting!
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.15-26-server I updated yesterday to the latest version of 2.6.15-26-server: 2.6.15-26.47 . When I rebooted today the system didn't boot, but gave a kernel panic: [quote] RAMDISK: Compressed image found at block 0 crc error VFS: cannot open root device md0 or unknown-block(0,0) Please append a correct root= boot option kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0) [/quote] root=/dev/md0 With the other kernel on my system:2-6-15-23 and the same parameters for root etc. The system does boot. So it is not a problem with the syntax in the grub menu entry. It looks like the system can't find the raid md0 drive, possibly doesn't initialize raid properly? This is quite severe, since the only thing I did was sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get dist-upgrade...
