[Bug 50981] Re: Palm synchronization unreliable

2006-09-17 Thread Ryan Rawdon
I believe this information is related to this bug:

When I start gpilotd manually in a terminal, it runs fine and I never
have a problem syncing. When it is started by opening the app at System
-- Preferences -- PalmOS devices, it syncs fine until I close that
window. Once I close that window, gpilotd crashes on the next sync
attempt and must be killed with -9, then restarted.

When it is started by that GUI app, the process info is:
ryan 5530 0.2 2.1 68136 10924 ?Sl 02:38 0:00
/usr/bin/gpilotd --oaf-activate-iid=OAFIID:GNOME_Pilot_Daemon --oaf-ior-fd=51

If I start it manually with gpilotd --oaf-activate-
iid=OAFIID:GNOME_Pilot_Daemon --oaf-ior-fd=51, it still works fine... so
I guess all I can contribute is that gpilotd crashes when it is started
via the GUI and the GUI is closed when a sync attempt is made.

[Bug 60880] groupwise protocol does not work with 2.0beta3.1

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gaim

I'm trying to connect to a groupwise account with gaim-2.0beta3.1

[Bug 60881] Installer misconfigures grup with scsi and ide devices

[Bug 41801] Re: eject icon in the on-screen display is missing

since a few weeks the eject-icon is missing. I am using ubuntu dapper on
  a ibook G4. When I press Fn+F12 (which means eject) a nice OSD pops-up
showing me an icon. Since a while this icon is missing and the gnome-
mime-application-x-reject.png is showed. I think this icon is missing
(removed or renamed). I upgrade very much. I use theme clearlooks, but
have this problem also with theme Human.

I have no idea which package handle the osd, because pbbuttonsd is not
running, hotkeys not installed and hotkey-setup not available for
powerpc. Maybe this is a problem in gnome-icon-theme and similiar theme
  packages.

2006-09-17 Thread -JojoMan-
Why not provide an option in options leave the default as is (searches
in HOME, unless more people want current dir) and then provide an option
to search the current working directory to be searched. that way
everyone is happy, this bugs me all the time when i open up mounted
partitions and try to do a search only to have to stop it select my
mounted partition and hit reload. i would love it if i went to my mp3
folder hit ctrl+f and typed in britney (joking) and pulled up all her

[Bug 28647] Re: sbp2 hot plug causes hard crashes

2006-09-17 Thread Stefan Richter
Jose,
check if sbp2 was loaded with serialize_io=1. This is loggeded in a file under
/var/log/. It should be (and it is the default) as it is currently required for
some devices and setups.

Also, check if there are messages from sbp2 about reconnect attempts
during normal I/O. This may be logged in the same or a different
/var/log/ file. You can check in /etc/syslog.conf where
kern.debug-level messages go, or just grep -ir reconnect /var/log.
There should be _no_ reconnect messages except when something was
plugged in or out.

Furthermore, try to find out the type of bridge chip on the FireWire
enclosure's PCB. It may be possible to update the firmware of this chip.
(Firmware uploaders typically run only under Windows, some also under
Mac OS X; there are currently no firmware uploaders to run under Linux.)

 3/ Done on edgy :)
4/ There is a plan to get that in edgy, but we want
something special, for better usability, so it might
require a few kdebase patches. I hope to get it in
 before edgy is out.

[Bug 59610] Re: Firefox crashes visiting sites with Flash + Xorg with Composite extension enabled

2006-09-17 Thread Martin Gustafsson
Try:
XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS=1 firefox from a console.
Works for me.
I have had problems with both nedit and firefox+flash since upgrade to Edgy.
The problems with nedit are related to composite-extension in xorg and the
workaround above was provided by the nedit developers.
Seems to work for firefox also.

[Bug 60883] 2.11 Split Server

2006-09-17 Thread popcorn
Public bug reported:

The new package for ircd-irc2 reports a Server is running in split
mode on joining the server. This is caused by a variable in config.h,
here is a thread that describes it:

http://web.irc.org/mla/ircd-users/2005/msg1.html

I tried compiling the source myself, changing that, as well as the flood
rate, but I get compile errors.

Also, when I got the new 2.11 package, my ircd.conf (from the previous
ircd version)wouldn't work. I had to rewrite it.

2006-09-17 Thread Jim Roepcke
Public bug reported:

Description of the crash:

When I start up the Disks application, it crashes after displaying the
main window (not fully updated yet though I think), after entering
password.

Steps to reproduce the crash:
1. System - Administration - Disks
2. Enter password
3. Application crashes after window appears

Expected Results:
Application starts

How often does this happen?
Always

Additional Information:
I have two 250 GB Seagate hard drives, each has two partitions (1 for swap, 1
for data), and they are set up with Software RAID-1.
This bug is like bug 50395.

[Bug 60888] edgy knot3 installs without asking for a username

2006-09-17 Thread Andreas Drop
Public bug reported:

I had a System running Dapper with 4 Partitions:
hda1 /
hda2 /home
hdc1 swap
hdc2 /home/base

During the installprocess using edgy-alternate-i386 i choose to format
hda1 for a complete fresh system, keeping my user data on hda2 and hdc2.
The installdisk forced me to also format swap, which is no problem.

After that I left the room for edgy to install, and visited from time to time
to confirm language, keyboard layout, video resolution, etc.
After all was done edgy bootet up to the login screen without ever asking me
for a desired user name during the instal process. So I have no username for a
login. My old username from dapper doesn't work (/ has been formatted). root
does never work. Is there a default username for alpha testing?

better if there's only 1 bug open about this issue, so I hope you don't
mind if I mark this one a duplicate of bug #60621.

[Bug 60893] Server Kernel update (47) prevents booting!

2006-09-17 Thread Peturrr
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.15-26-server

I updated yesterday to the latest version of 2.6.15-26-server: 2.6.15-26.47 .
When I rebooted today the system didn't boot, but gave a kernel panic:

[quote]
RAMDISK: Compressed image found at block 0
crc error
VFS: cannot open root device md0 or unknown-block(0,0)
Please append a correct root= boot option
kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0)
[/quote]

root=/dev/md0

With the other kernel on my system:2-6-15-23 and the same parameters for
root etc. The system does boot. So it is not a problem with the syntax
in the grub menu entry.

It looks like the system can't find the raid md0 drive, possibly doesn't
initialize raid properly?

This is quite severe, since the only thing I did was sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade...
Fortunately I am running a non-production server, but these things may NEVER
occur on a server distro.

** Affects: linux-source-2.6.15 (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Untriaged
 Status: Unconfirmed

[Bug 60892] music library file watcher doesn't work

2006-09-17 Thread aamukahvi
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Rhythmbox music library file watcher doesn't work in rhythmbox
0.9.5-1ubuntu5 (i386 binary) in ubuntu edgy.

I've got all my music (ogg) in /home/%USER/musiikki , and have enabled
the option Watch my library for new files.

However, no new files I put into that folder are shown in the library
until I import the folder again. Rhythmbox doesn't even check for new
files when starting.

See

I have similar problems, using ext3. I'm afraid it's kind of a

[Bug 56053] Re: Can't boot using linux-image-2.6.15-26-server

2006-09-17 Thread Peturrr
Can't you boot into recovery mode? If you press ESC during the few
seconds that Grub allows you to, you can choose a kernel and if you
choose recovery mode, it gives you more output.
