[Bug 55416] Re: PCI: Failed to allocate mem resource #6:[EMAIL PROTECTED] for 0000:01:00.0

2006-10-10 Thread Zoltan
Hi, Got an email from Vassilis Pandis saying:

===
** Changed in: Ubuntu
Sourcepackagename: None = linux-source-2.6.15
===

I'm running 2.6.15-27-686 and it still shows the errors.

Which particular version is this fixed in, and when will it be available for
download/update?
Also, has this anything to do with the fact that I have to use the pci=nommconf
bootstring?

Thanks,
Zoltan.

The same problem as the bug 41833.
I have a kubuntu edgy updated and upgaded every day, and I have always this
problem.
I had this problem also on dapper, and also on slackware 10.2.
I looked for this bug on internet, google, eciadsl forum, but I have not any

Thanks for your report. Your idea might get more attention and have the
possibility of being implemented if you would submit a specification for
this.

You should first check whether it already exists at the Ubuntu specs page
(https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+specs) in Launchpad. If that is the
case, feel free to contact the drafter of that spec about your
comments/suggestions. Otherwise you can start writing a spec following the

You don't understand the problem. You did not analyze my menu.lst file

title Ubuntu, kernel 2.6.17-10-generic

kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.17-10-generic root=/dev/hda8 ro splash vga=791
initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.17-10-generic

Do you see quiet flag in the kernel line? No. Because there is no
'quiet' flag in there. I've deleted the 'quiet' flag already. And again,
there are boot messages in the screen. Trust me! ;-) However this boot
messages use too dark fonts. My question: How can I make this fonts
brighter? Please, please read carefuly my bug report! Did you really

[Bug 61914] Re: texlive-lang-polish fails to install if MATLAB/octave-forge present

2006-10-10 Thread Daniel Robitaille
The bug report in Debian was marked fixed in May 2006 with the version
2005-2 of texlive-lang-polish, which is the version in Edgy. The
solution was to mark texlive-lang-polish as conflicting it with octave-
forge, thus you cannot install both of them together in Debian or in
Ubuntu.

[Bug 63912] Re: Module fglrx isn't loaded

2006-10-10 Thread Rouben
Proposed fix (not sure if this is the *proper* way to do this): add
fglrx on a separate line to /etc/modules. Mine looks like this now, and
seems to have solved the issue:

-- START --
# /etc/modules: kernel modules to load at boot time.
#
# This file contains the names of kernel modules that should be loaded
# at boot time, one per line. Lines beginning with # are ignored.

lp
fglrx
-- END --

My guess is this change to /etc/modules needs to be implemented through
the linux-restricted-drivers package (post-install script?), assuming
this is the proper way to do this (just because it works doesn't mean
that it's the right way to accomplish something).

2006-10-10 Thread Martin Bergner
Thanks for your report. Your idea might get more attention and have
the possibility of being implemented if you would submit a
specification for this.

You should first check whether it already exists at the Ubuntu specs
page (https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+specs) in Launchpad. If
that is the case, feel free to contact the drafter of that spec about
your comments/suggestions. Otherwise you can start writing a spec
following the steps described in

Re: [Bug 59518] Re: system clock problems on imacs

2006-10-10 Thread hendrikwout
it is both with dapper and breezy. It looks like a bug(s) in gnome. I get
many error messages. It doens't happen when the clock is set to a more
reasonable time (like the year 2006).

some more info: when I pull out the power supply of the mac, the clock is
set to the year 1907 because the battery of the motherboard is empty.

[Bug 59422] Re: Image files not displayed during slide show

2006-10-10 Thread Huygens
As mentionned in my previous comment, I could not update my OpenOffice
installation. So I am still stuck with this problem.

However, I did some test with a friend and he has a hardware pretty similar to
mine but with a different video card (an Intel instead of my ATI Radeon
Mobility 9000). On his computer, with the same installation of Ubuntu, the
above examples are working!
So I suspect that it might come from a bug in the video driver. I am using the
open source version of the ATI driver. I will try this week to install the
proprietary driver and see if I still have the bug.

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: openoffice.org-impress

I am using Ubuntu 6.06 LTS with latest update (so 2.0.2 regarding OpenOffice).
I am launching Impress and creating a new presentation from the Glossy
template. I am taking screenshot of my desktop using Alt+Prt Screen, which
creates PNG files. I integrate the PNG files inside my presentation. Everything
goes fine until I am using the slide show. Most of the time the pictures are
not displayed. Some times they are, but they could have artefacts.
If I save this presentation on a USB Key and reboot on Windows XP. OpenOffice
2.0.3, which I have on Windows, displays properly the slide show.

- I have an example .odp file for this purpose. But you could also use this
link (http://stan4d.net/Stanford-Ubuntu-2006-09.odp), which I have found in the
Ubuntu Wiki (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Presentations) When I am executing the
slide show of this presentation, a picture of Mark Shuttleworth is displayed on
the 3rd slide. It is not properly displayed on my PC, instead of a photo, I
have a part of my screen displayed at the position of the photograph.

I don't think this is a bug rather than an info message, so I will close
this bug. This might be a bug if you consider showing these messages to
the user one. But on Dapper and Edgy, there was much progress in making
the boot process more quiet, so I think this is just out of date ;)

[Bug 34550] Re: Wishlist: Quake3 for Ubuntu

2006-10-10 Thread DarkMageZ
i forgot all about this bug =D

ok, so currently the quake3-data package works fine for grabbing the
data from the cd. (built debians packages under ubuntu dapper edgy)
also the ioquake3 package works fine as well. upstream has finally
branched into a stable branch and current.

i've personally updated the packages i've used from the 1.34 branch (svn
892). it works nicely. (this is still the current 1.34 branch)

hopefully this can make it into edgy+1. i'll get around to tidying my
packages up (.orig.tar.gz .diff.gz) someday.

[Bug 65003] ltsp-build-client exits after debootstrap

2006-10-10 Thread StevenMcCoy
Public bug reported:

In both Dapper and Edgy the ltsp-build-client script exits immediately

[Bug 64711] Re: Kubuntu 6.06 - startup in graphical root-mode

2006-10-10 Thread Martin Pitt
What exactly is wrong about this behaviour? It does exactly what it's
supposed to do.

Also, I firmly oppose to the idea of an interactive question. It would
not make sense to add questions to all programs in the world when you
execute them as root.

Therefore I am closing this bug. If you disagree, I reopen it, but the
behaviour will most likely not change.

Thank you!
