[Bug 63886] Re: [Edgy] Unable to connect to some access points
I can confirm this problems, I have a Thinkpad T60 with an atheros a/b/g wlan-card. Since my school uses quite a complicated (at least for network-manager) wlan setup with wep(!), peap, mschapv2 and so on I have to use wpa_supplicant without network manager. However, while I have no problems connecting to my home wlan using wpa_supplicant, I need about 10 to 15 minutes connecting to the school wlan until I get an IP. The problem (according to dmesg) is always ath0 link is not ready. So my current workaround is deactivating and activating ath0 until I get an IP ;) But I will try the madwifi-ng driver as soon as I'm on a wired network next time. -- [Edgy] Unable to connect to some access points https://launchpad.net/bugs/63886 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 69499] Startup options cause eclipse to crash when subclipse is used
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: eclipse When starting eclipse (3.2) with an installed subclipse addon installed eclipse will crash. I did some investigations and found a workaround: Since Subclipse relies on sun-java I changed the order of java environments in /etc/eclipse/java_home so that sun-java would be the first choice. Unfortunately hidden in the startup script /usr/bin/eclipse are some gcj-related arguments which probably cause eclipse to crash when subclipse components are called. To work around this problem I did the following: sudo gedit /usr/bin/eclipse now outcomment the following lines in the very end of that file: #-vmargs -Djava.library.path=/usr/lib/jni \ #-Dgnu.gcj.precompiled.db.path=/var/lib/gcj-4.1/classmap.db \ #-Dgnu.gcj.runtime.VMClassLoader.library_control=never \ #-Dosgi.locking=none ${VMARGS} and add this line instead : -vmargs ${VMARGS} Now I know this is quite a rough way of dealing with this but at least now everything works like a charme. [Bug 67385] Re: Opening a file in gedit on a gnome-vfs share fails
@Rouben. Yes this happens with Totem as well, even with the same error message. Originally I filed two separate bugs, one for Gedit and one for Totem. Caroline Ford has merged the two into one as shown in an earlier comment; the Totem-bug is apparantly completely wiped away, I cannot find this one anymore, even when using expert search and turning 'Rejected' and 'Fix released' on. From a technical point of view, the problem could be in the underlying package (gnome-vfs) or in the implementation of gnome-vfs by other packages such as gedit and totem. The fact that this problem is detected in two separate packages in the same time, could indicate that it's the underlying packages., i.e. gnome-vfs. But since this is only an assumption, this can only be sorted out by looking to the code it self (which must be done by a developer). -- Opening a file in gedit on a gnome-vfs share fails https://launchpad.net/bugs/67385 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
