But when I start my system I get the first one again, and it is cut in
the upper and lower sides. It definitely doesn't fit the panel, and I
can't resize the panel every time I start the system just to make the

Probably a SWT problem, or some dependency.
My machine, a edgy/amd64 is freshly installed.
After some trying I notice the same problem happens in Azureus, another
swt user. I tried running it with strace, but couldn't find anything
obviously wrong (like a missing library)
The Debian maintainer doesn't think this should be fixed, noting that
(a) userdel lets you delete it again, (b) adduser (which is the official
command-line user-creation tool, as opposed to useradd which is just a
low-level detail) doesn't allow it. I'm inclined to agree.

I just found out that the kernel init processes of vmware-player seem to
hold a handle on the boot console. The console is vt8 during a regular
splash boot.
The consequence at the desktop level is that, when I switch to another
user, vt9 is used because vt8 is

I had strange behavior on NFS mounts via wifi at home, it had high
bandwidth in the beginning but then it dropped down, and with delays

Breezy: usplash is not running anymore. I submitted the bug IIRC to usplash
because it showed up only with splash boot.
Actually, I just rebooted my Breezy partition, once with splash, once nosplash.
The bug did not show up anymore.
I have no idea what may have caused it, and why it now appears
I forgot to mention that I never used vmware on Breezy. Therefore, the
Breezy bug must have been caused by something else entirely.

Yamaha Opl3sa2 sound card worked in Breezy 5.10 with a simple:
modprobe snd-opl3sa2
But in Dapper it says during boot and when I manually modprobe snd-opl3sa2:
FATAL: Error inserting snd_opl3sa2
(/lib/modules/2.6.15-25-386/kernel/sound/isa/snd-opl3sa2.ko): No such device
And I cannott run
