Problem changed when upgrading:

I have the same problem as described above.
To explain it in a clearer way:
With menu bar at the bottom of the screen, the gnome-menu (either Application
or Places or Systems) shows up from time to time, after new software install,
with some scroll buttons because it is shortened.
