[Bug 84346] Font rendering bug in Gnome Control Centre sidebar

2007-02-10 Thread Edward Ari Bichetero
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

The Group selection buttons in gnome-control-center render with little
jagged edges, as if hinting was turned off for them. The rest of the
control centre uses the desktop wide hinting (I haven't changed it from
the install default).

However, when I mouseover a button the rendering looks correct and as
soon as the mouse leaves the button it is back to jaggies.

No other button on my system behaves like that, so it doesn't appear to
be a gtk bug.

Always reproducible.

 Hello Alfonso,

 So the problem is fixed upstream, I am assuming the version you are
 using now is 9.x and the version of non-free you are experiencing

 Can you clarify this for me?

 Thanks, Alex.

While it's correct that the version of flashplugin non-free I was trying
to install was 7.0, I'm not sure about which one were the one I
installed from the Macromedia site. I think that it was 7.0, because
right clicking in flash web content shows the About Flash Player 7.0

[Bug 82570] Re: [apport] beryl-settings crashed with ImportError in module()

2007-02-10 Thread durand
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 82395 ***

i have the same problem. My friend suggested that the error might be
because of the differences in python-gtk and python packages because
python-gtk is version 2.4 while python is version 2.5. So, I tried to
relink /usr/bin/python back to /usr/bin/python2.4 and that solved the
problem. You will need to change this back to /usr/bin/python2.5 when
python-gtk 2.5 is released.

[Bug 82395] Re: [apport] beryl-settings crashed with ImportError in module()

2007-02-10 Thread durand
I'm not convinced that its a beryl svn bug. I get the same error with
other python gtk packages like straw rss reader. I havent changed the
path or anything else.

Here is a temporary fix I posted on a duplicate bug:

[Bug 75816] Re: File-roller

2007-02-10 Thread Tahir Emre KALAYCI
I believe this bug appears in Turkish localizations only. File roller sometimes
gives -idp error and couldn't open rar files. I have same problem on my Debian
installed, Turkish localized machine. Same rars doesn't extract because of this
error using file roller.
This is all about Turkish big i problem. In Turkish i is a different
character when it is uppercase (i-İ)(ı-I)(For more info :
http://www.i18nguy.com/unicode/turkish-i18n.html).

Talat wrote a patch to solve this problem in Turkish localizations for
file roller. I believe file roller developers must solve this problem
using this patch.

[Bug 53491] Re: [Edgy] Update to 1.4.1?

2007-02-10 Thread Mantas Kriaučiūnas
Christian Bjälevik was tried to update celestia package to 1.4.1, but his work
needs to be finished - sources are still not buildable (look at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/celestia/1.4.1-0ubuntu2 ), even when I've
fixed build problems there are missing/duplicating some files:

 - translations (.po files) are in *all* binary packages, instead of
being in one celestia-common, (current debian/rules file doesn't even
create celestia-common package :( )

 - src/celestia/gtk/data/celestiaui.xml also should be put into
celestia-common (or maybe celestia-gnome) package

 - celestia-gnome package includes buggy menu launcher - file
src/celestia/gtk/data/celestia.desktop doesn't work with celestia-gnome - Exec
and Categories lines should be:
 Exec=celestia-gnome
 Categories=Application;Education;Astronomy;Science;

- celestia (kde binary) does not work on Ubuntu Gnome system, it seems
some dependacies are missing...

[Bug 68452] Re: jpilot-syncmal trashes Avantgo settings after Edgy update

2007-02-10 Thread dave s
Any news on getting this code into edgy ubuntu ? Its feb 07 now and
syncmal is still trashing my avantgo palm settings.

I tried compiling syncmal 0.8 but hit dependency probs - could not find
pilot-link header files, adept does not appear to list the dev files for
this package ... I could compile it from source as well but its then
getting a bit hairy :)

Cheers

[Bug 84355] gdm does not start after boot (and usplash): black screen

2007-02-10 Thread LGB [Gábor Lénárt]
Public bug reported:

I don't know which package causes this, maybe usplash, upstart or
whatever. Since some days, uplash is shown correctly (colorfull) on
AMD64. However gdm does not start: after usplash is shown, and progress
bar reaches the right position, screen turns into black and nothing
happens (my monitor reports resolution of 720x400). I can't change
terminals with ALT-Fx keys. However, if I trigger SAK (alt-sysreq-K) gdm
starts and everything works, though on system shutdown, system drops me
a shell instead of power off (is it caused by SAK?). So I think there is
someting which hangs on boot but I don't know what, because there is no
picture on screen.

According to dmesg:

[Bug 45696] Re: NetworkManager can't find interface on resume from suspend

2007-02-10 Thread haaland
I had this happen yesterday. After killing all NetworkManager-related
processes (NetworkManager, NetworkManagerDispatcher and nm-applet), and
restarted them, things were back to normal. Using /etc/init.d/netapplet
restart, /etc/init.d/networking restart or simply killing and
restarting nm-applet had no effect at all.

Note that it does not always happen, most of the time everything works
as normal.

[Bug 18298] Re: burnproof should be enabled by default

2007-02-10 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Daniel, it's still open because apparently upstream broke the change
when merging some new code

Comment from upstream:

I'm not sure that this is correct. We should always use it for anything burned
from n-c-b using the cdrecord backend:

if (TRUE) {
operation-priv-record_flags |=
NAUTILUS_BURN_RECORDER_WRITE_BURNPROOF;
}
if (flags  NAUTILUS_BURN_RECORDER_WRITE_BURNPROOF) {
g_ptr_array_add (argv, driveropts=burnfree);
}

Can you include the debug output when running to show that it isn't getting
set?

[Bug 77464] Re: usb printer not detected to add printer

2007-02-10 Thread Matteo Settenvini
I still experience this problem with a Brother HL-1430 printer. However,
I noticed that the device (usblp0) is assigned to the plugdev group.

The file /etc/udev/rules.d/40-permissions.rules is okay for me (line
37):

   SUBSYSTEM==usb, KERNEL==lp[0-9]*,   GROUP=lp

I tried to reload the udev rules using udevcontrol, but the group didn't change
to lp.
Any ideas? This is udev's log:

and when I rebooted,o became 6,i=5,u=4.So i guesses number lock was on.I
couldn't turn if off,so I enabled the onscreen keyboard and up till now I can't
get into the system.I'll post what you asked for as soon as I can get in.

[Bug 84344] Re: firefox crash after updating today

2007-02-10 Thread meeuwisdlvw
Thank you for your bug report, but please understand that crashes are
not bugs. Many crashes can be attributed to a flaky plugins, extension
conflicts, or other behavior. I am closing this bug for that reason,
please feel free to reopen it if you feel the crash is reproduceable.
Use one or more of the following criteria: on other releases of Ubuntu,
Newer versions of this program, crashes on every load and with up-to-
date plugins.
