[Bug 95355] Tooltips partially obscured when using larger mouse cursors
Public bug reported: I have my mouse cursors set to a larger size, and that works great, but the tooltips in most programs tend to pop up behind the cursor, obscuring the first word. And you can't move your mouse to read it -- the tooltip will disappear. [Bug 38886] Re: File size limit exceeded - smbfs (unable upload larger file than 2GB)
The samba/cifs protocol has a part that is dedicated to negociate if large files are supported or not. The only thing is that the samba mount command will report itself has not supporting large files unless the lfs flag is used. I must admit at some point I have been thinking of reversing the logic in the code and have large file support on by default (at least on the client side, the resolution will still occur, so if the server does not support it then there are no problems). However, the best solution would be to check if there is a flag somewhere in the kernel indicating that large file support is currently activated. I will try to have a look. But, still, does anyone knows if this would cause problems? (I must admit I am still wondering why this lfs flag was used. There could be some reasons that we are unaware of...) -- File size limit exceeded - smbfs (unable upload larger file than 2GB) https://launchpad.net/bugs/38886 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 95357] georgewilliams Monospace font takes over the fontconfig/pango monospace virtual font
Public bug reported: Georgewilliams has a font named Monospace. This overrides the monospace virtual font that is used in a number of places in the desktop, including in gnome-terminal, gedit, and firefox. Worse, the georgewilliams monospace font is somewhat ugly (it doesn't seem to work well with subpixel font rendering, leaving very colorful boundaries and hard-to-read text). Is it possible to rename the font so that this doesn't happen? I'd like to have the ttf-georgewilliams fonts installed, but I don't want to have to change all the font settings in my apps to use DejaVu Sans Mono or Bitstream Vera Sans Mono. ** Affects: gw-fonts-ttf (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed ** Affects: gw-fonts-ttf (Debian) Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown ** Bug watch added: Debian Bug tracker #395487 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=395487 ** Also affects: gw-fonts-ttf (Debian) via http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=395487 Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown -- georgewilliams Monospace font takes over the fontconfig/pango monospace virtual font https://launchpad.net/bugs/95357 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 49567] Re: list view doesn't expand subfolder when clicking on arrow if entry is selected
I can confirm this bug on the Feisty beta. It doesn't work most of the time, but sometimes it does. This only happens in list view (in either browser or spatial mode) but not in other trees (like the one in the browser view side pane). One way of reliably triggering it is to select a subdirectory, and slowly slide your mouse towards the extender from the right until it highlights. The extender is now unresponsive to clicks, indicating a mismatch between the region where it highlights itself and where it responds to clicks. However, very often it fails to respond even when clicked squarely on the arrow. Usually it'll start responding again after a lot of retries and moving the mouse around. All this is seen only on selected entries. Other entries work perfectly every time. ** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu) Status: Unconfirmed = Confirmed -- list view doesn't expand subfolder when clicking on arrow if entry is selected https://launchpad.net/bugs/49567 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Solution worked, adding note to top! Maybe X needs a wrapper, if it get the error message it appends the section file and restarts? This will definitely break a lot of installs, as most older monitors don't report right. ** Description changed: Binary package hint: nvidia-glx I'm using amd64, kernel module 'nvidia' is in place. [Bug 82986] Re: No sound after initial install
Hi Toby, Sorry about the late reply. I have filed a bug report at ALSA which can be viewed at https://bugtrack.alsa-project.org/alsa- bug/view.php?id=2492. But there hasn't been any resolution. I was originally using Ubuntu Dapper (clean installation) and right after installation there was no sound at all. Not even the login sound. I tried following all the guides out there and didn't encounter any error during the process but in the end, still no sound. So I waited for Ubuntu Edgy to be released. I also wiped out the whole hard drive (including the WinXP partition) and did a clean installation. Same story. It is still a dual boot with WinXP and the sound works fine in WinXP, which really is a shame. [Bug 95362] Re: Desktop effects
Massimo, I was just passing through and I saw your bug report. I was thinking about a couple of things that might prove useful in solving the problem. I think the developers might be particularly interested in the color depth that you have the card running under. I know from the limited experience I've had with beryl or desktop-effects, any setting smaller then 24 bit would not work properly. In a follow up you might want to include your xorg.conf to help identify the problem. [Bug 78037] Re: rt2500 in feisty: problem solution
Bad news guys. I have new information and I'm updating my last post. It's not a bug. As you can see at: http://live.gnome.org/NetworkManagerHardware rt2500 drivers supports unencrypted and WEP networks when used with NetworkManager. While the driver supports WPA, it does not use Linux Wireless Extensions for WPA support, which is required for NetworkManager. I make some test and the drivers work fine in old fashion way without NetworkManager. [Bug 77233] [FIX] Re: Feisty: unbootable after dist-upgrade
I had the same issue in a MacBook Core 2 Duo running Kubuntu 6.04 and after testing several fixes the one which made the kernel boot was enabling ATA and ATA_PIIX in the kernel configuration. [Bug 89509] Re: Clicking Edit Partition shows wrong partition size
I am experiencing the same problem. For example, all I wanted to do was change the mount point for an existing ext3 partition (from /media/hda[n]) to root partition (/). When I clicked on Edit partition, the value in the field labeled New parititon size in megabytes was 0. If I only changed the mount point, ubiquity then wanted to resize the partition to 0. I then canceled and re-launched Ubiquity and get the same behavior. Other partition types (swap, ntfs) appeared to be getting the size pre- filled in the field correctly. ** Attachment added: /var/log/installer/debug http://librarian.launchpad.net/6917669/debug -- Clicking Edit Partition shows wrong partition size https://launchpad.net/bugs/89509 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 95368] Re: (feisty) unmounting a device icon on desktop fails
Argh, forgot to mention that the unmounting actually does work, despite the error dialog. So the bug is that the error dialog appears for no reason. [Bug 92299] Re: internet connection will not automatically connect after last update
I don't understand why there is no reaction from developers to this bug. That at least some configurations with static IPs don't work anymore in feisty, with apparently no other workaround that deinstalling network-manager seem like a serious problem to me. Also the fact that it worked with 0.6.4-6ubuntu2 and not anymore with 0.6.4-6ubuntu3 should help to narrow the problem. The changelog for ubuntu3 version was: * Manage some static devices we can understand. This should avoid the problem people are having with NM marking the machine as offline when it's just on static instead. LP #82335. So obviously that change made network-manager decide to manage some devices that it clearly cannot understand, since the connection is down when it should be up. anyway, i think that this bug in a final release would be quite bad. -- internet connection will not automatically connect after last update https://launchpad.net/bugs/92299 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
