[Bug 107164] Re: opera crashed

Unfortunetly, Opera is not officially supported, however, on an
unofficial note, it looks like it was the mplayer plugin that caused the
crash, if you can replicate in another browser, please report that.

+ System freezes (possibly Gecko)
I experience this bug since at least Herd 5.
At one moment in time it was quite rare, now it is consistently appearing,
sometime even after few seconds.
  Firefox -safe-mode doesn't change anything.
Other Gecko based browsers (Epiphany, Galeon) are affected.
Non Gecko based (Dillo) works fine.

95% of the time the freeze is not hard (mouse cursor moving, alt-sys
keys recognised). The remaining 5% can only be recovered by hard power
  down.

The freeze seems to be site dependant (launchpad being one of the
worst), but so far I was unable to correlate it to any particular event.
I have experienced freezes without any user interaction or network
  activity.

Any other networks apps I tried did not show any similar problem.

[Bug 68171] Re: error in desktop file

2007-04-17 Thread SpeedyGonsales
Upstream (gnome) developer submitted patch:

Patch (is) to remove the DefaultPlugins.desktop file entirely

Now that plugins are able to be disabled in the preferences dialog, the
DefaultPlugins.desktop file seems even more geared towards developers. I don't
see a reason to leave it in for standard end users.

 2007-03-20 16:31 UTC
Committed the patch from comment #1 to SVN (r1086).

I applied the patch :-) and it works ;-)

[Bug 85488] Re: Canon Lide25 (plustek backend) scanner does not scan via gui

2007-04-17 Thread Joel Berger
@ all:

Thank ianrose for the idea of the script; I just liked the idea and
wanted a single-command solution (something that could be called easily
from a GUI). Also, in case it's non-obvious, the syntax is plustek-
wrapper command, just as you'd use sudo. Finally, if anyone's got
superior regex-fu to mine, feel free to convert that mess for setting
$SANE_DEVICE into something more graceful. I've just never had much
luck with backreferences in sed. Oh, and don't forget that the script
is still just a workaround and I think it'll be better for us all in the
long run to deal with this upstream (e.g. most likely the SANE
developers) in the interest of a real fix.

@ Arthus42:

The only cases in which I could reproduce that error were for cases
where the file as specified didn't exist (remember that sh file
doesn't honor $PATH) or the user trying to run the script didn't have
read permission to the file. So that's where I'd troubleshoot first.

[Bug 107181] The (CD) installer gives the wrong keyboard layout for the Dutch locale

2007-04-17 Thread jeroen69
Public bug reported:

Feisty RC CD image:

Hello,

When you choose as language Dutch while installing Ubuntu/Kibuntu it
defaults to the Dutch keyboard layout. This seems correct, but it isn't.
Almost everyone is using a qwerty keyboard, with the US International
(with dead keys) keyboard layout. Actually, there is a Dutch keyboard
layout, but it is hardly used. That's why in MSWindows the keyboard
layout also defaults to US Int. . Ubuntu/Kubuntu/Xubuntu/etc should also
do that. So Dutch users will not have to change the layout afterwards.

Note: I am talking about Dutch users in the Netherlands. I don't know
about Belgium or Suriname users.

[Bug 90499] Re: gweled on Feisty Herd5 plays annoying sound

2007-04-17 Thread Lionel Dricot
This is a preliminary quick-dirty patch to add a preferences to
start/stop the background music.

Unfortunatly, this patch suffer two major flaws :

1) Gweled will freeze if you check/uncheck too quickly. I really don't
understand why, must be a thread race or something
2) The preference is not saved and, by default, the music play at the start of
the application

(to apply this patch, just apt-get source gweled and then patch)
