I can't reproduce this symptom on a clean install of edgy dist-upgraded to feisty. Ubuntu, like Debian, does not have an /etc/alsa/dev.d as you noted. It works here, i installed dhcp3-server and firestarter. In the wizard it is not possible to setup the local network but this can be set in preferences later. I had a little problem with dhcp too but i reconfigured the dhcp settings in firestarter (clear the lowest and highest ip fields and fill in the correct values again) and now it works without having to touch the terminal. I am seeing similar behaviour, but I don't have AMD64. Mine started soon after I added applets (weather applet) to the panel. Seems to have gone once I removed the applet. There is no apache at all.But I tracked problem down and fixed it.Here it comes. I did run lighttpd under custom non-default user I'd created myself.All worked fine, startup script launches lighttpd as root but I pointed out to server to change to restricted user upon startup (in it's config file I used server.username and server.groupname to switch to restricted user). During upgrade, owner and group of (existing and not empty!) lighttpd logs folder (/var/log/lighttpd) were changed for unknown reason to another user (intended to run www server but hey, I already had another user for this purpose!).Once server worked as restricted user and logs folder has been assigned to another owner\group, server was unable to write log file due to lack of permissions and exited due to this fact. So, I have to ask: why updater has to alter owner and group of already existing and non-empty folder during system upgrade?Imho it should be left as is (or at least, you have to change owner after confirmation since this potentially may affect server's operations). Judging from the other items on my auto-mode-alist, the standard forms of the regexps would be either \\.fo$ and \\.xsl$ or \\.fo' and \\.xsl'. I believe the correct file to change is either /etc/emacs /site-start.d/50xslide.el or /usr/share/doc/xslide/dot_emacs. It's me again. I got it working by myself working on a hunch. Boinc runs fine after uninstalling KmyFirewall. As I could not find an easy way to fix it, I am looking for another firewall instead. Maybe KmyFirewall author should make the program a bit more user-friendly. I opened everything under incoming and outgoing. The localhost is shown as 'friendly' in the firewall, but still it blocked boinc client from talking with KBoincSpy. [Bug 109860] No external hardware after suspend in feisty
Public bug reported: I have an IBM Thinkpad T23 laptop with 256mb ram. And I upgraded from edgy to feisty. But when I take the laptop out of suspend mode (by opening the lid or holding the Fn key) My pcmcia wireless network (rt2500) card doesn't work anymore (lights stay off). And my wireless notebook mouse from logitech that works with an usb stick also doesn't work anymore. It looks like external hardware cannot wake-up again after suspend. This worked in dapper and edgy. Today i'm gonna try to install feisty from scratch with the alternate install cd. (Because normal desktop cd takes ages to load.
