I can also confirm this bug, but this happens to me if I connect via
kppp to the internet. I think that closing the knetworkmanager isn't
really a good solution, because in other situations I need this tool
again (what a start/stop hype).

I'm not suffering from the issue reported in this bug, but I wanted to
suggest that this bug gets unmarked as a duplicate of bug #88815. If
people are still experiencing problems with Feisty, then it's not
stracing xaos shows, that a configure-variable isn't properly expanded
in the compiled binary:
Try 'strace -e open xaos', then hit F1 and you'll see among others

I have same situation. NVIDIA drivers are loaded just fine.
I just finish (before 1h) fresh install Feisty Fawn ...in beginning i got
Desktop Efect works just fine for 10min after that i got same situation like
before .

Hello, I got my network cards working again. Btw I had to use " noapic
nolapic pci=noacpi acpi=off" and that seems like it did it. I am not
100% sure. I am new in Linux. I guess someone else can explain. Does
anyone know what is going to be affected by turning the above settings
off?
