[Bug 110152] Re: vim-gtk install failed in feisty (7.0.4)

2007-05-27 Thread Ryan Koppenhaver
I had the same issue trying to (re)install vim-perl after a dist-
upgrade. FYI, I can confirm that forcing the old versions of vim-gui-
common, vim-common, and vim-runtime in Synaptic allowed me to reinstall
vim-perl.

However, I noticed this...

  $ sudo apt-get update /dev/null; apt-cache show vim-perl | grep Version
  Version: 1:7.0-164+1ubuntu7

... but packages.ubuntu.com lists the most recent version as
1:7.0-164+1ubuntu7.1 (And after redoing the dist-upgrade, I manually
downloaded and install the .deb with dpkg -i with no errors.)

Since vim-perl and vim-gtk, but not the prerequisite vim-* packages,
are in universe, I wonder if this might be (for me at least) a
configuration issue with my sources.list.

Hope someone finds this helpful!

Quick update: It turns out that changing

  deb http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu feisty-security main restricted

to

  deb http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu feisty-security main restricted
universe

in /etc/apt/sources.list and rerunning apt-get update makes everything
work right for me again.

[Bug 86234] Re: 2 swap partitions each mounted twice in 2.6.20-8

2007-05-27 Thread otzenpunk
Just backed up my theory a little bit.

I dumped swapon -s into a file near the end of checkroot.sh and
confirmed that there was only one swap entry (/dev/sda9) at this time.
When the system was fully up and running, there were the two entrys with
and without 'mapper' again.

Yep - still happens in a fresh installation of Feisty. When I adjust

[Bug 86234] Re: 2 swap partitions each mounted twice in 2.6.20-8

2007-05-27 Thread coastgnu
I can confirm this, replacinf UUID with the /dev entry in fstab works.

Also replacing dbus from 7.04 Feisty with dbus (1.0.2-5ubuntu1) gutsy does the
job.
So updating feisty with the gutsy dbus package will be a solution for a bugfix
upgrade.

So we have two solutions now to fix this bug + updating dbus will be a
solution for novice users by offering an unattended upgrade via update-
manager.

Kyle, it's your turn now, I would say. :-)

2007-05-27 Thread Hilario J. Montoliu \(hjmf\)
Thank you yurtos for the bug report, however this report lacks
information we need to investigate it further. Of course this is not
your fault, but the coredump attached to your report doesn't provide
useful information for us. Probably because the type of crash you
described that affected the whole system has made several apps to crash
at the same time more as an artifact than a firefox own failure. For
this reason, we are now going to close the bug - please feel free to
reopen when you have more information at hand.

And please don't doubt to report any other crashes/issues you might have
in the future.

Further information can be found at [1].

[Bug 117120] Report Needed

2007-05-27 Thread Hilario J. Montoliu \(hjmf\)
Thank you Giorgos Kesisoglou for submitting this report.

Could you please try to obtain a backtrace by following the instructions on
[1], or upload the crash report that probably was generated during the crash
and that should be located at /var/crash/ to [2].

Please indicate which extensions/plugins do you have enabled; and if this crash
is reproducible describe the steps that lead to it (it is very important for us
to have a test case for each crash).

This will greatly aid us in tracking down your problem.

Thanks in advance.

sudo dpkg -i your last package (to install the new one)
sudo grub-install hd0 (install grub in mbr)

reboot system and test!

in /boot/grub the files are dated today and installed-version tell me:

[Bug 117122] Progress bar doesn't move when resuming from hibernation

2007-05-27 Thread Gabriel Bouvigne
Public bug reported:

Kubuntu 7.04/AMD64

When resuming from hibernation, the progress bar which is supposed to show
resuming progress doesn't move. This is mainly a cosmetic glitch, but as
resuming takes more than 30 seconds, I initially thought that it was not
working.
Progress bar moving would allow user to know that the computer is still alive.

[Bug 117078] Report Needed

2007-05-27 Thread Hilario J. Montoliu \(hjmf\)
Thank you davidpbrown for submitting this report.

** Summary changed:

- Firefox freezing Ubuntu forcing reboot
+ firefox crashed

** Description changed:

+
+ ... Firefox freezing Ubuntu forcing reboot
+
I've just had Firefox freezing Ubuntu x10 in a row! The whole system
locks up and is unresponsive.. mouse cursor is frozen and keyboard
unresponsive.. I guess the windows manager crashes.

I've seen other more specific bug reports but I can't relate to them.
The only unique thing I have here is AMD64 and maybe that I click links
  before pages are fully loaded.

There's no obvious consistency is the cause or timing.. though it's
always just as a link is clicked. Twice was at gnome-look.org
wallpapers, resorting by most downloaded but this has happened often on
other sites.. rebooting and returning in the same way to the same page
doesn't freeze up. This last hour the most frequently by far. Last time
was clicking the registration link from the email from this site..
  almost put me off.

I'm new to Linux so don't know the best way to capture useful data on
this. Java not running, Javascript is enabled and certainly the sites it
happens on are the type to use it and the links that cause it may well
  be javascripted (guess).

Serious bug.. I'll look for another browser till it's fixed..

[Bug 84603] Re: Hard disk I/O randomly freezes when hald is running and optical drive is empty

2007-05-27 Thread live_linux_secure
If i do this trick my hard drive is also recognised as the old fashioned
/dev/hdaX but DMA is off and it is impossible to turn it on!
I would like to have the denomination /dev/hdaX because when the system
recognise my disk as a SATA it make a weird noise when it turn off!
That's why i would like to have it recognised as a ATA drive WITH the DMA!

Thanks François

[Bug 106887] Re: ALERT! does not exist at boot with ICH7

2007-05-27 Thread Tormod Volden
Here is a debdiff for the new grub package. The mem_lower patch is used
by Mandriva and Red Hat. I found it mentioned on the grub mailing list
(http://www.mail-archive.com/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/msg06526.html)

One that I think is very useful is the grub-0.92-mem_lower.patch, it is
relatively simple, and will allow grub to boot some computers where only
lilo and syslinux were booting, basically, this patch checks early if
grub will fail, and in that case, use a memory detection code almost
indentical to syslinux.

2007-05-27 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug. Unfortunately we can't fix it,
because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it
helpful to read How to report bugs effectively
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if
you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems.

[Bug 117127] Re: [apport] tg-admin crashed with OverflowError in __new__()

2007-05-27 Thread Ken
Oh, and changing /usr/bin/tg-admin to have the prefix python2.4
fixes it. But the package should have that done already.

Thank you for your bug. To confirm by somebody having a CPU allowing
frequency change. Not likely a gnome-applets bug which didn't change
from months, reassigning to linux
