[Bug 117078] Re: firefox crashed

2007-05-30 Thread Hilario J. Montoliu \(hjmf\)
... sad to hear that. Could it be a hardware problem?

** Changed in: firefox (Ubuntu)
Assignee: Hilario J. Montoliu (hjmf) = Mozilla Bugs

** Summary changed:

- firefox crashed
+ firefox freezes

** Description changed:

-
... Firefox freezing Ubuntu forcing reboot

I've just had Firefox freezing Ubuntu x10 in a row! The whole system
locks up and is unresponsive.. mouse cursor is frozen and keyboard
unresponsive.. I guess the windows manager crashes.

I've seen other more specific bug reports but I can't relate to them.
The only unique thing I have here is AMD64 and maybe that I click links
  before pages are fully loaded.

There's no obvious consistency is the cause or timing.. though it's
always just as a link is clicked. Twice was at gnome-look.org
wallpapers, resorting by most downloaded but this has happened often on
other sites.. rebooting and returning in the same way to the same page
doesn't freeze up. This last hour the most frequently by far. Last time
was clicking the registration link from the email from this site..
  almost put me off.

I'm new to Linux so don't know the best way to capture useful data on
this. Java not running, Javascript is enabled and certainly the sites it
happens on are the type to use it and the links that cause it may well
  be javascripted (guess).

Serious bug.. I'll look for another browser till it's fixed..

[Bug 116997] Re: Postcript files printed in blackwhite

2007-05-30 Thread David Agudo
Really, the exact problem is as follows (I just simplified it for the
sake of clarity):

- I open firefox and go to the following URL:
http://callejero.lanetro.com/apps/lanetro/mapas.asp?pais=esidvia=4935num=0muni=Madridmapa=tas1e65%2Dmadridprov=Madrid

- As you can see, the page presents a map with flashplayer. If I then
print the map (using the icon at the lower right corner), the map is
printed in blackwhite. At first I thought it could be related to the
flash player.

- To identify the problem, I just got a copy of the printed file from
/var/spool/cups (file.ps) and tried to print it again with different
settings, but it is always printed in blackwhite. The file.ps file
seems to be correct, no application complains about it.

But following your advice, I have tried to convert it to pdf and back
again to ps (ps2pdf + pdf2ps)... the reconverted file is printed in
colour correctly! (I attach this new file). So I guess that you are
right, it must be something related to the file.

I don't have any other coloured ps file, and all pdf converted to ps
with pdf2ps are printed correctly.

Now the question is... is there something weird in file.ps that affects
CUPS or the gutenprint driver, but not Evince or ps2pdf?

[Bug 117078] Re: firefox freezes

2007-05-30 Thread davidpbrown
I've no reason to think it is.. I've only seen it with Firefox recently past
few weeks. It's been a very stable system for the two years I've had it.
I think it's something specific to the coding on the pages I go to that trips
it. I've visited other sites and had no problems.
I'll steer clear of the known problem pages for now and see whether I see it
again..

[Bug 66420] Re: Cannot get to console in edgy on a macbook pro

2007-05-30 Thread hardskinone
I have a problem like this on a Dell 640m (Core duo, 945GM). However I
don't get a corrupted screen. On VT1 (alt+F1) I can read messages Grub
prints just after a kernel selected (Loading 'Ubuntu 2.6.x etc) until
Loading, please wait Plus I read mdadm: No devices listed in file
conf were found message (something not critical, I suppose). Other VTs
from 2 to 6 shows a simple black screen with top left blinking cursor.

This problem turns critical if graphical start up fails. I'm on a
install from new feisty fawn, 2.6.20-16-generic (and -lowlatency).

[Bug 117314] Re: latest kernel(2.6.20-16.28) update gives boot problems

2007-05-30 Thread Andrew Waldram
Ok I can't prove this as I went round the houses fixing up my system.

But I reckon if you have the message about resume file (after pressing
ctrl alt F1)

then simply press enter to continue boot.

once in x start a terminal window

and issue

sudo update-initramfs -u
and
sudu dpkg-reconfigure uswsusp (if you using this method for suspend) and select
your swap device (now NOT /dev/sdxx

this should update the initrd with the correct UUID for the swap and
then reconfigure uswssusp in the initrd to support it.

If this works please report back here so others can be sure.

Re: [Bug 111257] Re: totem crashes with 'BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)' when using compiz and xserver-xorg-video-intel driver

2007-05-30 Thread Albert Abril
Now, i have the intel driver (without 915resolution), and works fine for my
resolution.
However, with Compiz or Beryl running, still without can't play videos in
any video player.

Now, i can confirm the bug is with the xserver-xorg-video-intel
package/driver.

Thanks for the info.

 @Albert

I'm not sure if that is the same bug, if you say you're experiencing
it with 915resolution. The bug that has been reported here (at least
in my case) does NOT involve 915resolution (in fact, that's when stuff
works), but rather with the xserver-xorg-video-intel package/driver,
 not the xserver-xorg-video-i810 + 915resolution package/driver/patch
 combo.

Re: [Bug 109431] Re: Kubuntu 7.04 Feisty Does Not Install On IBM r40e From Using The Live Desktop Installer.

2007-05-30 Thread TheGreatGonzo
Brian

Thanks for your mail. I am afraid that I was unable to get to the logs as
the patitioning tool in the installer would, as previously described, leave
me with no accessable file system after the crash.

I'm afraid I had to install an OS as I need to do some development work
urgently and therefore have opted for Debian (lenny). If I get the chance
to attempt to install Fiesty again I will let you know.

Cheers

Andy

2007-05-30 Thread Soren Hansen
I'm rejecting this bug, as the ssl-cert package provides make-ssl-cert
and also usr/share/ssl-cert/ssleay.cnf.

If you feel that this is not sufficient, feel free to reopen this bug.

[Bug 49840] Re: Gcompris administration menu not working

2007-05-30 Thread Mantas Kriaučiūnas
Gcompris administration tool works fine for me in Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty
(except a usability problems, for example I didn't found the way how to
show a login prompt as default). Are there any users, who has problems
with gcompris administration tool in Ubuntu 6.10 Edgy or 7.04 Feisty
?

[Bug 117672] Re: [apport] totem-video-thumbnailer crashed with SIGSEGV in pthread_mutex_lock()

2007-05-30 Thread Daniel Holbach
Thanks for your bug report. Can you reproduce the crash, when you run
/usr/bin/gnome-video-thumbnailer -s 128
file:///media/31%20dez%202004/Real%20Butts%20-%20Victoria%20gets%20good%20grades%202.mpeg
 /tmp/.gnome_thumbnail.4TKVST
from the command line? If so, can you install totem-xine-dbgsym and
libxine1-dbg and get a backtrace (use
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash for that)?

[Bug 117121] Re: [apport] hcid crashed with SIGSEGV when I was testing ubuntu-bug program

2007-05-30 Thread Daniel Holbach
Thanks for your bug report. Can you reproduce the issue somehow? I'm not
sure the apport messages or the upgrade messages have anything to do
with hcid crashing.

I think your bug is a duplicate of bug #49840. Which Gcompris and Ubuntu
version do you use ?
Gcompris administration tool works fine for me in Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty (except
a usability problems, for example I didn't found the way how to show a login
prompt as default).

Andrew...

I have commented it out in /etc/fstab... i don't know if this a correct
