[Bug 115431] Re: [FEISTY] firefox crashed [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED]

2007-07-20 Thread Hilario J. Montoliu \(hjmf\)
We have not received any duplicates for some time. Thus, this crash was
likely due to some unique plugin extension combination or has been fixed
in the meantime. Please, reopen it at any time if you have more related
info.

Thanks for your contribution. Don't hesitate to submit new crashes,

H. Montoliu

[Bug 126899] Report Needed

2007-07-20 Thread Hilario J. Montoliu \(hjmf\)
Thank you aalangg for submitting this report.

Please, check that that logout is caused by a crash in firefox or
anyother app. For that you'll need to look in /var/crash and check that
there are crash reports dated from the last time you had that problem.

If so could you please try to obtain a backtrace by following the
instructions on [1], or upload the crash reports that probably were
generated during the crash (if any) and that should be located at
/var/crash/ to [2].

Please indicate which extensions/plugins do you have enabled; and if
this crash is reproducible describe the steps that lead to it (it is
very important for us to have a test case for each crash).

Finally indicate which is your environment, e.g. which is your desktop
manager, your window manayer, your themes, ...

This will greatly aid us in tracking down your problem.

Thanks in advance.

[Bug 127101] laptop hangs, last message is XAA: Evicting pixmaps

2007-07-20 Thread Juan Pablo Salazar Bertín
Public bug reported:

When Ubuntu changes video mode (switching to a VC, restarting,
hibernating, suspending, turning off, etc.), sometimes my laptop hangs
with a black with some garbage screen. Keyboard doesn't respond (not
SysRq, Suspend hotkey, etc.). The only solution is a hard power-off.

This usually happens when compiz has been enabled, and the last message
in Xorg.0.log is XAA: Evicting pixmaps.

I've seen cases where this last message doesn't even get written in the log
file when the laptop hangs, and once I've seen more messages written:

[Bug 99180] Re: [feisty] DVB-T USB LiteOn Problems with recognize the frontend

2007-07-20 Thread isayhelloyousaygoodbye
Okay, after commenting out a line with /radio in one of the Makefiles in
v4l-dvb/v4l it compiled successfully with the above changes on my Ubuntu
7.04 system. The change to the Makefile was necessary because of some
missing method in one of the radio adapter's code. Advanced users
probably will figure things like this out by themselves, but as a
beginner, it took me a day to get to this point.

Thanks.

[Bug 85488] Re: some usb_devices fault if usb_suspend enabled

2007-07-20 Thread Sitsofe Wheeler
t2000kw:
Your Canon LiDE25 (it might have an additional name) is already on the list.

Anyone new to this bug:
It is important that people with a problem test that doing
sudo echo -1 /sys/module/usbcore/parameters/autosuspend
on Gutsy (using a live CD (http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ ) if
you don't want to install it) _actually solves_ the issue they are seeing. It's
no good having your device added to the quirks list because it was broken in
Feisty and then finding there some other problem was preventing your device
from working (or worse, that a workaround had been added in Gutsy that means
your device doesn't need blacklisting)...

I'm again going to appeal to someone for information on which types of USB
device are worth testing and additionally what the signs are that a given
device has failed? I work in a University and if someone can give me a
reasonable subset (as time is limited and lots of this equipment will have to
be borrowed) I will try and test all the devices I can lay may hands on.
However I need to know what failure mode I'm looking for on a given device and
how to activate it...

[Bug 78809] Re: Randomly crashing (SIGSEGV/SIGPIPE)

2007-07-20 Thread Rebecca Palmer
Firefox crashed again today (all windows disappeared, after some seconds
when they weren't functioning); backtrace from apport attached.
Restarting it normally worked, so I couldn't test anything else.

Something like checking your add-ons are compatible with the new version of
Firefox had appeared on startup (presumably referring to the update to
2.0.0.5); the pages I had open when it crashed were:
http://www.randi.org/education/links.html
http://ods.od.nih.gov/factsheets/calcium.asp and
http://www.sciencedirect.com/science?_ob=ArticleListURL_method=list_ArticleListID=601294619_sort=dview=c_acct=C10360_version=1_urlVersion=0_userid=126524md5=977fb539ecd73c70756a7ceaf8448d0e
 (two tabs in one window)
http://www.sciencedirect.com/science?_ob=HelpURL_file=qs_main.htm_acct=C10360_version=1_urlVersion=0_userid=126524md5=19dafca93101182f345c5c407c9fecd3
(in the process of loading in a new window when the crash happened)

Since this backtrace, and several others I have had, point to
__kernel_vsyscall, is there anything else I need to post so you can tell
which thread crashed?

[Bug 54803] Re: Various laptop mode problems

2007-07-20 Thread Tormod Volden
Thanks for your bug report, which unfortunately has been left
unanswered.

1. Is this still a problem in Feisty or Gutsy? If yes, please run:
 sudo bash -x /usr/sbin/laptop_mode status 2output.txt
and attach the file output.txt. You can also try sudo /sbin/blockdev --getra
/dev/mapper/main-root and see what that gives.

2. The file /var/run/laptop-mode-enabled is created by /etc/init.d/laptop_mode
at boot, but only if laptop_mode is enabled in
/etc/default/laptop-mode or /etc/default/acpi-support.

Precisely so: don't do that. It's not like noexec actually buys you any
real security, as the system is riddled with workarounds for it (e.g.
you can trivially execute a non-executable script in most scripting

2007-07-20 Thread Freddy Martinez
Christobal, please don't just defer the bugs, we would appreciate all
the help we can get. A better triage can be seen above by Hilario, he
set the proper tag (all our statuses have a tag associate [1]) so that
bughelper can pickup improperly tagged reports. He also noticed firefox
was crashing so he asked for information from one our predefined
responses. You did a good job with your triaging, but it could have
been a bit better if you follow the Mozilla Team's pages. Again, I hope
you can work with us in the future.

[Bug 125233] Re: [flashplugin-nonfree] Arbitrary code execution in Flash Player 9.0.45.0 and prior versions

2007-07-20 Thread Tormod Volden
That is: flashplugin-nonfree does not download the new blob if the old
blob from the last installation is there (maybe because they have the
same name). Then of course the checksum fails.

I guess it should either look at the timestamps of the blob (and
download a new if needed), or just delete the blob after installation.
