[Bug 126899] Report Needed
Thank you aalangg for submitting this report. Please, check that that logout is caused by a crash in firefox or anyother app. For that you'll need to look in /var/crash and check that there are crash reports dated from the last time you had that problem. If so could you please try to obtain a backtrace by following the instructions on [1], or upload the crash reports that probably were generated during the crash (if any) and that should be located at /var/crash/ to [2]. Please indicate which extensions/plugins do you have enabled; and if this crash is reproducible describe the steps that lead to it (it is very important for us to have a test case for each crash). Finally indicate which is your environment, e.g. which is your desktop manager, your window manayer, your themes, ... This will greatly aid us in tracking down your problem. Thanks in advance. H. [Bug 127101] laptop hangs, last message is XAA: Evicting pixmaps
Public bug reported: When Ubuntu changes video mode (switching to a VC, restarting, hibernating, suspending, turning off, etc.), sometimes my laptop hangs with a black with some garbage screen. Keyboard doesn't respond (not SysRq, Suspend hotkey, etc.). The only solution is a hard power-off. This usually happens when compiz has been enabled, and the last message in Xorg.0.log is XAA: Evicting pixmaps. I've seen cases where this last message doesn't even get written in the log file when the laptop hangs, and once I've seen more messages written: *** (II) XAA: Evicting pixmaps (II) PM Event received: Capability Changed I830PMEvent: Capability change (II) PM Event received: Capability Changed I830PMEvent: Capability change (II) PM Event received: Capability Changed I830PMEvent: Capability change (II) PM Event received: Capability Changed I830PMEvent: Capability change (II) PM Event received: Capability Changed I830PMEvent: Capability change (II) PM Event received: Capability Changed I830PMEvent: Capability change (II) PM Event received: Capability Changed I830PMEvent: Capability change Synaptics DeviceOff called (II) intel(0): [drm] removed 1 reserved context for kernel (II) intel(0): [drm] unmapping 8192 bytes of SAREA 0xf89c1000 at 0xb7b65000 (EE) intel(0): I830 Vblank Pipe Setup Failed 0 *** I'll provide more info if needed. [Bug 85488] Re: some usb_devices fault if usb_suspend enabled
t2000kw: Your Canon LiDE25 (it might have an additional name) is already on the list. Anyone new to this bug: It is important that people with a problem test that doing sudo echo -1 /sys/module/usbcore/parameters/autosuspend on Gutsy (using a live CD (http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ ) if you don't want to install it) _actually solves_ the issue they are seeing. It's no good having your device added to the quirks list because it was broken in Feisty and then finding there some other problem was preventing your device from working (or worse, that a workaround had been added in Gutsy that means your device doesn't need blacklisting)... I'm again going to appeal to someone for information on which types of USB device are worth testing and additionally what the signs are that a given device has failed? I work in a University and if someone can give me a reasonable subset (as time is limited and lots of this equipment will have to be borrowed) I will try and test all the devices I can lay may hands on. However I need to know what failure mode I'm looking for on a given device and how to activate it... [Bug 54803] Re: Various laptop mode problems
Thanks for your bug report, which unfortunately has been left unanswered. 1. Is this still a problem in Feisty or Gutsy? If yes, please run: sudo bash -x /usr/sbin/laptop_mode status 2output.txt and attach the file output.txt. You can also try sudo /sbin/blockdev --getra /dev/mapper/main-root and see what that gives. 2.
