Please specify what command i need to execute, exactly, to disable 'usb suspend' bug feature in my Feisty Fawn 7.04 desktop (i am a non-geek), so i can see whether my usb-printer works at all or not (although perfectly detected) and so whether else it maybe is some fault in the Samsung ML1610 series and i can use the warranty card, although i know the particular printer must (theoretically?) work on Feisty; also i then could see whether i can have positive scan results then too. *** This bug is a duplicate of bug 118539 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/118539 As I had pointed out in Bug #118539, this issue is essentially solved and was due to ACX sources from early 2007 which do not take into account the new mac80211 wireless stack of the 2.6.22 kernel whereas snapshot acx-20070610 does. I recommend posting any further coment in Bug #118539. Thanks! Btw, the build procedure can be simplified even further: unpack the source tar ball in your home directory. You cd into acx-20070610 and type make -C /lib/modules/`uname -r`/build M=`pwd` Then you grab acx.ko and proceed e.g. as described in hexion's HOWTO. -- D-Link not recognized in Gutsy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/125673 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 98813] Re: [apport] gnome-terminal crashed with SIGSEGV
I have been seeing the same symptoms. I was at first unable to reproduce it reliably, but I found that button-mashing (like repeating the home keys: asdf;lkj) while in unicode-input mode (scim) would crash it quickly. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: lyx Currently, the version of LyX on Feisty can not read LyX files generated on Fedora 7, nor on Ubuntu Gutsy. [Bug 85488] Re: some usb_devices fault if usb_suspend enabled
You don't want to re-write the kernel, you want to recompile it, so if you're searching for directions, keep that in mind or you won't find the information you want. The information you need, except for finding the USB option to disable it, is here: http://www.howtoforge.com/kernel_compilation_ubuntu I wasn't successful in getting the kernel to work after compiling it, and the help I got in the forums was contradictory, but you can look through the directions and see if it's something you want to try to tackle (I gave up on the idea and decided to use the work-around and wait for Gutsy). I did use Fishor's kernel but it didn't work for me and I had to remove the GRUB menu listing for it. That doesn't mean it's defective, it's just compiled for a computer different enough that it won't work on mine (might be an AMD-Intel thing). If you do recompile your kernel (or use someone else's kernel), you'll want to lock your kernel down so it doesn't get updated in the normal updating process. Another option is to use a distribution that fixes problems instead of requiring their users to wait. Some of the others were quick to address this problem in the Linux kernel. There are distributions that are Ubuntu based now, like Linux Mint (don't know if it has this problem, though). http://linuxmint.com/ I had made a recommendation to my company that we investigate replacing at least sme of our PC operating systems with Linux, but because of watching this problem and seeing how the problem isn't addressed immediately, I won't recommend Ubuntu if they decide to switch some of the computers over to Linux. I don't think all 10,000+ PCs at PACCAR (worldwide) would be able to use a different (non-Windows) OS, but many of them could definitely be switched over. -- some usb_devices fault if usb_suspend enabled https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/85488 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 131604] EntityParser does not accept whitespace at end of file
Public bug reported: The xml.parsers.xmlproc.xmlutils.EntityParser class has a method skip_ws which skips whitespace. However, if it encounters end-of-file, it will raise OutOfDataException instead of returning normally at the end of the file. As a result, the catalog files from the w3c-dtd-xhtml package, some of which have whitespace at the end, are not parseable. Example program: from xml.parsers.xmlproc import catalog xhtmlCatalog = catalog.SAX_catalog( '/usr/share/xml/xhtml/schema/dtd/1.0/catalog', catalog.CatParserFactory() ) Output: $ python readcatalog.py ERROR: Construct started, but never completed at /usr/share/xml/xhtml/schema/dtd/1.0/catalog:19:28 TEXT: ' ' Note that you will only get this output after patching bug 131595, otherwise the parsing will abort before the end of the file. Suggested solution: Disable the following lines in the skip_ws method: if match.end() == self.datasize: raise OutOfDataException() See _xmlplus/parsers/xmlproc/xmlutils.py, line 451. [Bug 131584] Re: compiz.wrapper not pretty with bash
I believe this is not a problem with compiz.wrapper, but of the user's configuration. The way echo is used in compiz.wrapper requires a POSIX compatible shell. In Ubuntu and Debian /bin/sh can be a symbolic link to any POSIX compatible shell (see the Debian Policy manual chapter 10.4). Indeed, in ubuntu /bin/sh is symlinked to /bin/dash by default. If the users symlink /bin/sh to a non-POSIX compliant shell (for instance /bin/bash) obviously this would have some side effects. For this reason I would mark this bug as invalid.
