I compiled kernel 2.6.24-rc5 (vanilla) manually about few weeks ago and haven't
had any problems since. What I've noticed after the update is that now I'm
getting all these messages about npviewer.bin (=nspluginwrapper) segfaulting.
And that's something that did not happen using the stock
My next step will be to try the scp command with the -l switch. (limit
bandwith)
I'll get back with some tests.

Heh, to my surprise, when Installed OSS v4 with my script
(http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=655100), I tried to see if
Banshee works. So it's really not a Banshee problem, or a Totem one
(though I installed the xine variant of it), it's an ALSA one, and as I

I had got the same issue, now (01/01/2008) I am able to install basic
kde packages.
However, I am not able to install some of additional kde4 packages such
as kopete-kde4. I get an problem with dependencies (libungif4g (=
4.1.4)). Maybe its another problem.

I've been able to narrow the problem a little more. It seems the actual
line in my .gtkrc-2.0 which causes the problem is the following:
