Yeah i read about some other guy who had the same computer and problem
too. Theres the same problem when using Fedora. It would be nice if

I also Investigated the minimum memory requirement for only-ubiquity
mode. I did this by using a hard disk image without a swap partition
and elected to not create one as part of partitioning. Somewhat strict
requirements, and without them ubiquity runs comfortably with 256MB of
RAM. Unfortunate

Does this only happen for you on laptops? If so it is probably due to
bumping the touchpad.

This is related to tracker somehow. I noticed every window that was slow
was reading files in some manner (appearance window has to read themes,
firefox open file reads home directory, etc.). Killed tracker and
problem goes away...

I recently installed Hardy Alpha and it didn't have this issue.
However, I just updated my installation after the update-manager
prompted that there were new updates.
So with the new updates, I have the same problem :-(

I didn't give enough information? I can (and have, repeatedly) reproduce by
installing Vista first and then trying to install Ubuntu. Do you want the MBR
or something to find out why grub fails?
