[Bug 197130] Re: [hardy] Black X screen and system halt after installing linux-rt
It's not a bug in the server unless you can prove it. The system seems to hang when it loads libglx (which is the nvidia version). Try removing nvidia-glx(-new) and installing it using the upstream installer. ** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Invalid -- [hardy] Black X screen and system halt after installing linux-rt https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/197130 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Well, as for Firefox 3.0, I don't really know as Firefox 3.0 in ubuntu seams to have stopped working. (More info on this later, and in another bug report). [Bug 215515] [NEW] adept_manager: impossible to change status from "remove" to "purge"
Public bug reported: in adept_manager, try to remove something with "purge", and some other dependencies are removed too, but only with status "remove", not purge. If i want to purge them as well, i can't change their status from "remove" to "purge", I have to do it via "cancel changes". This is not correct, in Synaptic it does work, and working much faster that way. [Bug 125471] Possible Solution: Ubuntu Server and Debian - EXACTLY same installation in a VM. See below.
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 I've been testing both, Ubuntu Server and Debian in VM's to make a decision for installation for a production server. One of the tests I ran was exactly this: Using mirroring for all of the system's partitions, including the OS. I reproduced exactly the same steps for both OS's like 3 times each. After each installation, I tried shutting down and removing one of the disks. For Debian, succeeded all times. Reconnected the disk and resynchronized the disks and everything went OK. For Ubuntu Server, failed all times, taking me to busy box shell. I could connect the disk back and boot it up without doing anything else. Thought I've installed Ubuntu Server much more than 3 times before trying Debian out, I have further info about this behavior. Twice, after reconnecting the disk back, I could see the disk resynchronizing, but at about 16% or so, I got kernel panic due to inability to synchronize disks in RAID1. About the VM's: Running latest VMware Server. Ubuntu Server 7.10 - i386 Debian 40r3-i386 Hope it is of some use while pursuing a definite solution for this issue. Installation was completed (dual boot w/ win xp) with no problems. The package manager notified me there were updates available.I began the upgrade process and lost power during the last 25 minutes of the upgrade.System restored with no problems but will not allow me to restart the package manager. It seems that the user password file was damaged during the power loss including the root and user passwords. When going to user settings and attempting to unlock the user accounts, a "Could not authenticate unexpected error has occurred' window opened. At this point the system operates fine unless I need root access. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- password problems after power loss during 8.04 upgrade https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/215504 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 215490] Re: objects doesn't remember transparent level across sessions
Of course, the instant I hit submit I found what I was looking for. Adel, as a workaround please try installing compizconfig-settings-manager. Under general options, click the Opacity Settings tab (it's off to the right.) In the section labelled Window Opacities, add a new rule using New. Then you can set which applications (such as gnome-panel) that you want transparent, and how much. I think this will save across sessions, although if you change the transparency later with the mouse wheel it will not. -- objects doesn't remember transparent level across sessions https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/215490 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
