Me too.
As a really ugly workaround I thought about this...
(1) disable samba to run as daemon (add 'exit' in /etc/default/samba)
(2) sudo chmod a+rw /var/run/samba/*.tdb /var/lib/samba/*.tdb
This totally ruins the samba security, I expect. That's why I disabled
samba to start as a daemon.

I got Intel Core2duo 1,5 GHz processor, and after installing ubuntu 8.04
the processor works all the time with speed 1 GHz (lower)
/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu1(0)/cpufreq/scaling_cur_freq constantly
shows 1 GHz speed. It seems like the speed management doesn't work at
this

I had the same problem with Gentoo 2008 beta1 live CD, but now I can boot fine
from Gennto 2008 beta2 live CD.
They have fixed this problem somehow.

I had perhaps a similar problem. AMD64 GeForce7300 working fine in
Gutsy broke on upgrade to Hardy. Could only get 640x480 and 800x600
resolutions. Now, before I knew what was wrong I tried many many
things, so perhaps several variables were in play here, but in the end
the way I fixed it was

Some more info regarding my previous post: I managed to get the keyboard
working by holding the shift key while booting. With rw init=/bin/bash
as described above I got a root prompt. I typed in passwd and hit
RETURN. From this point on the keyboard driver was messed up. Hitting a
SPACE key worked
Right, I should have mentioned this, it's onboard (Asus P5NSLI) sound
using the snd_hda_intel module.
