Hi David,

These messages are actually displayed by openssh-client, and bzr has
no way of intercepting them to display that message.

Thanks,

[Bug 269954] [NEW] ssh -X breaks Xauthority on NFS mounted home dir

2008-09-13 Thread Brendan Powers
Public bug reported:

When using an nfs mounted home directory, using ssh to connect and run a
X11 app from the nfs server causes X applications to break.

Steps to reproduct the problem
1) have to computers(A and B) with ubuntu 8.04 installed
2) Export /home from computer A, and mount it on computer B
3) Create a user that has the same username, home directory, and UID on both
computers
4) Log into computer B with the user that was just created, and ssh into box A
and run an X application (ssh -X boxa xterm)
5) In another terminal, try to run another X app on box b as the same user.

What is supposed to happen: The X app on box B runs properly
What actually happens: The X app will fail with an error like Xlib: connection
to :0.0 refused by server about 50% of the time

This can be fixed by running cat ~/.Xauthority.
Also sometimes running ls -al ~/.Xauthority will result in a stale nfs file
handle error.

I assume this is because the Xauthority file is removed, and then a new
one is created when ssh sets up credentials on computer A. This causes
the file inode number to change, causing the stale file handle errors on
computer B. However, this problem did not occur in ubuntu feisty. I
havn't tried it with gutsy. I've tried installing the packages for xauth
and libxau6 from feisty, but it did not fix the problem. So I'm guessing
its an ssh issue, but i could be wrong.

Someone reported the same issue on the ubuntu mailing list, but didn't seem to
file a bug report that i could find.
https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-users/2008-July/152242.html

I'm using ubuntu 8.04.1, also had the same problem with 8.04.0. It worked fine
in ubuntu 7.04.

[Bug 262893] Re: USB device doesn't mount if plugged in at KDE startup

2008-09-13 Thread Vanessa Ezekowitz
Follow-up:

I believe I found the problem - KDM is being started way too early in
the boot process, well before HAL is started. It's been my experience
in the past that HAL must be started first, or KDE will not sense its
presence. I modified my boot order slightly, by removing
/etc/rc2.d/S13kdm and /etc/rc3.d/S13kdm (since I wasn't sure which
runlevel was correct, and neither one was appropriately numbered
anyway), and adding a line to /etc/rc.local to start KDM from there.

I suspect a proper fix would entail merely renaming the
/etc/rc?.d/S13kdm symlinks to some value that puts it nearly last in the
boot order.

Problem seems to be solved. This also fixes host not found errors
that kmail throws now and again at startup, since the network was also
being brought up after KDE was up.

Recommend pushing this fix out ASAP, as it may fix boot-order-sensitive
other bugs as well.

[Bug 180384] Re: Please merge mozilla-traybiff 1.2.3-4 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2008-09-13 Thread fabrice_sp
Actual version of this package in Hardy is the same than the one in Debian, and
still depends on icedove.
So either this bug can be closed, because it has been solved, or there is no
bug, and it can be closed also.

Can you please explain a bit?

[Bug 81838] Re: [Intrepid][Hardy][feisty] camorama fails to detect web-camera

2008-09-13 Thread danielhollocher
I think the problem is that camorama only supports the v4l driver and
not the v4l2 driver. So, webcams that only support the v4l2 driver
don't work with camorama. I emailed the guy, and never got a response.
I suspect that camorama development has ceased to a certain degree, and
this bug will never be fixed.

[Bug 269725] [NEW] gnucash: Obscuring windows after getting transactions with HBCI.

2008-09-13 Thread Reinhard Tartler
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnucash

This bug is seen in debian, I did not confirm it myself

From: Vincent Smeets [EMAIL PROTECTED]
To: Debian Bug Tracking System [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Subject: gnucash: Obscuring windows after getting transactions with HBCI.
Date: Tue, 19 Aug 2008 23:06:18 +0200

I am using Gnucash with HBCI with a chipcard to get access to my accounts on
the German bank with BLZ 26650001. Before this version, I used the package(s)
gnucash-hbci_2.2.4-2~hbci.1_amd64.deb from
http://aqbanking.alioth.debian.org/debian/unstable/ which worked fine.

Now when I get the transactions, the following happends:
- Gnucash is getting the transactions from the bank.
- The window with the transaction to match is opened, but directly pushed to
the background. This window in now blocked/locked!
- The foreground gets a dialog with the question The bank has sent balance
information in its response. Do you want to import it?.
- After answering Yes: a new dialog is opened stating that the new balance is
0,00 and asking to correct the balance. (The value 0,00 is incorrect)
- After answering Yes: a window/dialog is opened to reconsile the account. It
wants to reconcile to the incorrect balance of 0,00. Now the background
  window isn't locked anymore.
- Both windows can now be closed and the new transactions are imported. You
can't reconcele them because the balance was incorrect.
- Now I can start a separate action to get the online balance and reconcile
the account. A separate action will report the correct balance and
  reconciling will succeed.

There are two problems described here:

First: When I get the online transactions, I also get a new balance reported.
The value is however always 0,00. Is this an error of the bank or is Gnucash
returning a value where there was no value sent by the bank?

Second: In case a correct balance value is received by Gnucash, then the order
of dialogs should be: Import and match the transactions and after that use the
balance to reconcile the account.
Now the dialogs for reconciling are blocking the import of the transactions.

Thank you for your work.
In case you need log files, just say what and how to produce them.
Regards,
Vincent Smeets

[Bug 54020] Re: Kernel panic on install on amd64

2008-09-13 Thread aka47
Ok guys.

I get pretty much the similar.

At boot up you get the initial menu and when you choose any of either
the install or live options you get a message claiming he Kernel is live
and then the machine reboots.

Using the following downloaded install CD's

Ubuntu Hardy AMD64, 8.04.1, Desktop, Standard
Ubuntu Hardy AMD64, 8.04.1, Desktop, Alternative
Ubuntu Intrepid AMD64, Alpha5, Desktop, Standard.

The machine is a Samsung R560 Core 2 Duo Processor, Notebook.

The atempts with Intrepid are just about the same, except you get an
aditional message after the kernel is live saying the kernel is realy
alive, then reboots..

I386 seems to boot up OK.

As it is a 64 bit machine though I would realy like to use 64 bit and
could do with it for 64bit vmware machines.

[Bug 43305] Re: USB stops working on Toshiba m45-s165

2008-09-13 Thread marcog
After extensive testing using the LiveCD version of Intrepid Ibex Alpha5
I can confirm, in my situation, that the USB bug seems to be resolved.
I've been running my toshiba m45-s165 for about 4 days now using an WD
external USB drive, USB optical mouse and various USB memory card
readers and have no experienced any hiccups. All devices function
normally without interruption, and at their expected speeds. One thing
I have noticed, though, is that network-manager no longer has an option
for 64-bit WEP encryption password entry in the wifi login screen. I
realize it's outdated and very insecure, and I'm not sure if this was
intentionally phased out, butit is an annoyance. Also, i switched my
router to 128-bit WEP key but it still refuses to log on, constantly
throwing me back to the wifi login window, only with WEP 40/128-bit
hexidecimal chosen instead of the regular 128-bit that i had selected
before. I realize this may be a new feature, or a seperate bug, but I
figured I'd kill two birds with one stone.

To sum up, the bug for all USB ports ceasing to function on the toshiba
m45-s165 seems to have been resolved with linux-image-2.6.27-*, as far
as I can tell. A big thanks to everyone involved. If you have any
further questions, please don't hesitate to ask!

Cheers!

-Marc

[Bug 269586] Re: Sound trouble on certain HP laptop (in my case : dv7 1070)

2008-09-13 Thread Alexandre Jacob
** Description changed:

When my laptop (HP dv7 1070e) is playing a sound, either there is no sound,
either it is a very poor quality (with a kind of repetition of a short clip on
a time interval of a few seconds).
The bug is independent from the speakers (for example, if I plug an headset,
the trouble is still present)

Searching on the web, I found a tip to correct this : adding pci=noacpi at
the end of kernel line in /boot/grub/menu.lst
Indeed, when acpi is disabled, the sound is played correctly.

However, I think this is not a good way to fix that trouble, because
then, a CPU core is missing.

I know I'm not in that case, other persons I know have exactly the same
problem with other HP laptop model (dv7 1035...)

  Sorry for my approximative english.

[Bug 269733] [NEW] mediatomb SIGSEGV when requesting folder listing with PS3 while indexing

2008-09-13 Thread Mike Mol
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mediatomb-common

While mediatomb was indexing content in a directory tree containing CIFS
mount points, I tried enumerating the root folder using my PS3, and
mediatomb SIGSEGV'd. This is not a duplicate of Bug 196120, as that bug
is marked fixed in 0.11.0, and I'm running 0.11.0-1ubuntu1.

I can also easily cause SIGSEGV crashes with normal activity, but
without debugging symbols, I don't know if the crashes are occurring in
the same places.

Release:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]
03:47:29 $ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 8.04.1
Release:8.04
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
03:50:59 $

Version:
Version: 0.11.0-1ubuntu1

What I expected to happen:
I expected the PS3 to show me the PC folder, Photos and Videos folders.

What happened instead:
The PS3 told me no items found, and gdb trapped a SIGSEGV for the instance of
mediatomb.

[Bug 269738] [NEW] user switcher error when trying to fast user switch

2008-09-13 Thread Joachim
Public bug reported:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu intrepid (development branch)
Release:8.10

I have two users and want to switch between them using the fast user
switch option. On the first try to do so, the screen blinks once and
then comes back, no user switched with the error message seen in the
screenshot.

However, when trying a 2nd time, it works!

I'm on a Toshiba Portege M200 Laptop with nVidia Corporation NV34M
[GeForce FX Go5200 32M/64M] no extra proprietary drivers installed as
none of them work - tried 71, 96, 173 but deinstalled them immediately
because of big problems (no X, extremely slow etc.). I have no idea
which Xorg display driver is in use, sorry, might be VESA or Xorg's nv
flavour.

The X servers log in /var/log/Xorg.0.log does not show anything despite
the startup entries. Same for dmesg output. I don't know where else to
look.

Thanks for all, you can close this call.

The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the
upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would
appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel.
There are one of two ways you should be able to test:

 1) If you are comfortable installing packages on your own, the linux-
image-2.6.27-* package is currently available for you to install and
 test.

 --or--

 2) The upcoming Alpha5 for Intrepid Ibex 8.10 will contain this newer
2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel. Alpha5 is set to be released Thursday Sept 4.
Please watch http://www.ubuntu.com/testing for Alpha5 to be announced.
You should then be able to test via a LiveCD.

Please let us know immediately if this newer 2.6.27 kernel resolves the
bug reported here or if the issue remains. More importantly, please
open a new bug report for each new bug/regression introduced by the
2.6.27 kernel and tag the bug report with 'linux-2.6.27'. Also, please
specifically note if the issue does or does not appear in the 2.6.26
kernel. Thanks again, we really appreicate your help and feedback.

[Bug 210725] Re: Please include RaLink RT2860 driver

2008-09-13 Thread Jason Scurtu
@krutoileshii

I think that you tried to compile this driver before? and there are still
restovers/ settings that conflict with the new Driver...
As I said, I try'd it on a fresh install without any problems and can ensure
that the driver works well..

But anyway try this what i mentioned before (obove)!

#Stop your networkmanager with:

sudo /etc/init.d/networkmanager stop

sudo ifconfig ra0 down ## Or wlan0 instead of ra0 if ndiswrapper was used
sudo modprobe -r rt2860sta ## or ndiswrapper instead of rt2860sta

#Remove old config file as User, not root:

rm -fr ~/.gconf/system/networking/wireless/networks/*

Restart, and hopefuly you should be able to log in a network..

If not, then please write a new bug report for the Networkmanager, or
even look if someone has the same problem..

2008-09-13 Thread Marco Rodrigues
Intrepid:

Status: Dependency wait
Dependencies: icedove-dev

It still doesn't build fine in Intrepid, it need a merge from debian,
porting packages to Ubuntu, to have it build correctly.
