Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this bug as a bug in openssh. For future reference you might be interested to know that a lot of applications have bug reporting functionality built in to them. [Bug 220006] Re: Sound Card Detected, but only headphone sound
Hello everyone. snowball2050, I got a similar issue. Yesterday, suddenly, Ubuntu had no sound in my Dell Studio 1735 laptop, even when I've been working with dual boot Intrepid/Vista since I bought it like 2 months ago. I use Ubuntu 95% of the time. After seeing this audio issue, I booted with Vista to verify if it was a linux problem or a general problem...what was my surprise? I didn't get audio in Vista either. To make it work in Ubuntu I turned on the Headphones as Line Out option and the sound started to work. In Vista I deleted the drivers, reboot and let the OS install the drivers by default...it workedbut note that if , after that, I install the drivers downloaded from the Dell webpage, I lose the sound again. I noticed that Vista detects something connected in one of the headphones plug (Studio 1735 has 2 plugs) ...but of course nothing is connected. So I agree with you snowball2050, the OS is mixing the channels with one of the headphone outputs. [Bug 307652] [NEW] editline truncates at 64 characters in batch mode
Public bug reported: In batch mode, if the input line is greater than 64 characters, the first 64 characters are lost. In my case: $isql-fb test.sql the input file of: SET ECHO ON; SELECT dt.* FROM Table_10 t10 JOIN (SELECT * FROM Table_10 t2 WHERE t2.ID = t10.ID) dt ON (1 = 1); becomes: SELECT dt.* FROM Table_10 t10 N (1 = 1); In the above the line : JOIN (SELECT * FROM Table_10 t2 WHERE t2.ID = t10.ID) dt ON (1 = 1); became: N (1 = 1); This does not happen in interactive mode, nor does it happen with the version of editline that is included in the firebird source distribution. This also seems to have been reported and fixed for minix-editline here: http://vmlinux.org/jocke/blog/hacks/ I am still investigating, but this first came to our notice with trying to run the python QMTest tests on the Firebird package distributed with Ubuntu. Thank you for your quick reply. In fact I had just discovered that Feisty was no longer supported before your email arrived. I am new to Ubuntu and I have 8.04 on my own PC - the Feisty version is on a web-hosting site. You might consider adding a short readme file to the normal repository to advise people when versions are obsolete. ...Robin Jouni Mettala wrote: Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However feisty is no more supported and I am setting this bug to invalid. Feel free to submit any future bugs you may find. [Bug 88746] Re: ehci_hcd module causes I/O errors in USB 2.0 devices
Okay, back from work again. Sorry for the strange things I wrote/asked above. I now read a little into ehci, ohci etc. in Wikipedia to understand a little better. And I installed device manager and took a look into it. Could it be that the sub-version Troy James wrote about is from Ricoh Co Ltd.? That is the only non-AMD/ATI-thing I found. But is it related to usb? Today things got worse: When I started my laptop this morning, both printer and hdd-external drive crashed right away before even using them. At the same time it is extremely slow, as if low on memory. Could there be a connection? Well, maybe not. So, I am attaching the lspci and lspci -vv and lspci -vvn outputs. And the dmesg-output. In the latter are error messages like no agp bridge found, aperture beyond 4GB, ata1: softreset failed (device not ready), ata1: failed due to HW bug, retry pmp=0, some errors with ricoh-mmc, and then of course the usb 6-1: device descriptor read/64, error -110, usb 6-1: device not accepting address 2, error -110 and the I/O-errors. Of course, there might be no connection between the different errors. I hope someone understands what this all means and can help... [Bug 271987] Re: Trident Cyberblade XP2 on Toshiba satellite A25, cant set screen resolution higher than 800x600
After trying loads of things for a day, the following (based on mpitch's code above) worked for my Toshiba Tecra M1 with Trident XP4m32 graphics (1024x768, 60Hz LCD screen). My problem was that i could not get the option to choose a screen resolution higher than 800x600 (a common problem, judging by the fora). after re-installation of xserver-xorg so that computer booted into its default (small screen) state, i: 1) deleted the last few sections of mpitch's code 2) changed the clock MHz to 63.5 (rather than 65.0) 3) adjusted the Modeline dimensions (and changed -vsync -hsync to -Hsync +Vsync) 4) added the Option PreferredMode 1024x...@60 I can't say which of these small changes were responsible, and i also re-installed all the xserver-xorg packages again halfway through the above process, 'cause it seemed to be failing, though all was well on shutdown and restart - it restarted in 800x600, but i then had the option to change to 1024x768 in Screen Resolution. thanks mpitch and good luck to others.. [Bug 248577] Re: avahi-daemon uses 32 bit legacy capabilities on AMD64
Hi. I also get this message in the log (intrepid, kernel 2.6.27-9-generic). As I have problems with my usb-devices I would like to know what the message legacy support in use means? Does it mean that using only 32-bit capabilities won't affect legacy support? Sorry, I'm no expert, but I'm trying to find the source of the usb-problem.
