[Bug 343740] Re: Update from 8.04.1 to 8.10 failed
Hm. There is a reason why we don't provide Webmin in Ubuntu. It doesn't work properly with the Debian configuration files. So it can screw up upgrades... If you installed and used webmin out of some third-party repository and it screwed up your configuration files in an upgrade-unfriendly way, you're on your own, this is not a bug in Ubuntu. ** Changed in: samba (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Invalid -- Update from 8.04.1 to 8.10 failed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/343740 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 342578] Re: mysqldump doesn't pick up /etc/mysql/my.cnf
Hrm... weird enough, this is what my strace tells me (a symlink from /etc/my.cnf to /etc/mysql/my.cnf exists): $ strace mysqldump 21 | grep my.cnf stat64(/etc/my.cnf, {st_mode=S_IFREG|0644, st_size=3959, ...}) = 0 open(/etc/my.cnf, O_RDONLY) = 3 stat64(/home/tkeller/.my.cnf, 0xbf8ccdb4) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) stat64(/usr/local/Zend/Core/etc/my.cnf, 0xbf8ccdb4) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) I have no idea why it looks for /usr/local/Zend/... [Bug 342578] Re: mysqldump doesn't pick up /etc/mysql/my.cnf
@Thomas: Stange. With or without symlinks (tried both directions) I still get the same results as Mathias. I even tried with separate copies of /etc/my.cnf and /etc/mysql/my.cnf. an...@pc13267:/etc$ strace mysqldump 21 | grep my.cnf stat(/etc/mysql/my.cnf, {st_mode=S_IFREG|0644, st_size=3894, ...}) = 0 open(/etc/mysql/my.cnf, O_RDONLY) = 3 stat(/home/andol/.my.cnf, 0x7fff7e12d8e0) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) stat(/usr/etc/my.cnf, 0x7fff7e12d8e0) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) The /usr/local/Zend/ does make me wonder. Are you sure you are actually running the mysqldump belonging to the Ubuntu package? What will which mysqldump tell you? What happens if you do the same strace on an explicit /usr/bin/mysqldump? This is what Google tells me when I ask about /usr/local/Zend; http://www.zend.com/. Does that ring any bell? By the way, mysql-client-5.0.51a-3ubuntu5.1 is almost a year old. I've been using the script above in comment 7 (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/117713/comments/7), but I decided to put an encrypted filesystem on it using the directions here: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/EncryptedFilesystemsOnRemovableStorage However, the sdparm commands do not work any more. I get the error message open error: /dev/mapper/luks [read/write]: No such file or directory sdparm expects a device name like /dev/sdb1; this is what the script reads out from /etc/mtab. But the encrypted filesystem's entry is something like /dev/mapper/luks[...], and that cannot be given as an argument to sdparm. [Bug 345249] [NEW] Sansa Fuze not listed as supporting Vorbis and FLAC
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: hal-info The 10-usb-music-players.fdi file does not list Fuze players as supporting Vorbis or FLAC audio. I recently bought such a player (what appears to be version 1 of the device) and its firmware supported these formats out of the box. With the FDI files in intrepid, copying music with Rhythmbox entailed unnecessary and slow transcoding and resulted in all the music being listed as unknown artist and album (in fact they appeared to be untagged). After updating the FDI file, it just copies the music directly. I filed an upstream bug with the updated FDI file: http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=20616 This consolidates the entries for the Clip and Fuze devices and adds device IDs for Fuze v2 devices. There is a total of 8 device IDs because the players present different IDs depending on whether they are in MSC or MTP/Auto modes. ** Affects: hal Importance: Unknown Status: Confirmed ** Affects: hal-info (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Bug watch added: freedesktop.org Bugzilla #20616 https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=20616 ** Also affects: hal via https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=20616 Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown -- Sansa Fuze not listed as supporting Vorbis and FLAC https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/345249 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 345251] [NEW] notify-osd shows double image for screen brightness control
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: notify-osd The latest notify-osd shows a double image for the adjust screen brightness function (see attached screenshot) - a smaller and a larger notification icon. This is on Jaunty using notify-osd 0.9.5-0ubuntu1 running on a Dell XPS M1530. It occurs whenever I press the adjust brightness keys (Fn and arrow up/down). Other notifications don't seem to be affected (the adjust volume one is fine, for instance). I don't know if has anything to do with another bug on this machine, which is that when you press the adjust brightness key, it easily gets itself out of sequence where it executes the *previous* keypress instead of the key you actually press, eg if you press Fn+up, Fn+up, Fn+down, Fn-up, the last two are actually Fn+up, Fn+down instead of the expected Fn+down, Fn+up. ** Affects: notify-osd (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- notify-osd shows double image for screen brightness control https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/345251 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 338408] Re: Bug#518391: Patches for coherence
Arnaud, I made the changes to the rules file that you suggested. IMHO worked much better. Both manpages have been created. I had a real problem with the manpages. I would get lintian errors on the .deb but not on the source. I tried several name combination which did not work. During the test install I manually verified that the manpages where installed to /usr/share/man/man1 which they where, so I included a lintian override file. I have pushed the changed to the launchpad branch. I also attached a new debdiff, pbuilder log and install log. Please have a look when you have some spare time. [Bug 148381] Re: right-click menu closes and selects items when it can't fit below mouse pointer
Having this problem in Ubuntu 8.10 amd64 on the gnome desktop under both metacity and compiz with multiple (all?) versions and distributions of firefox (abrowser, iceweasel, swiftfox and swiftweasel). The location of the right-click does not matter. On occasion, when right-clicking on an object, the right click menu will blink out and then something random will happen. This is a problem when that object happens to be a hypertext link. The link could be opened in the current window and tab, current window in a new tab, a new window, copied to the clipboard, bookmarked, or saved as a file. Without intervention, the right-click menu will continue to behave this way until the browser is closed. It is possible to intervene by clicking the left and right buttons, individually, several times on a non-interactive part of the screen (ie uncovered background). This will temporarily recover the right click menu, but it's equivalent to smacking your TV to get better reception and eventually the bug comes back. -- right-click menu closes and selects items when it can't fit below mouse pointer https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/148381 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
