[Bug 201786] Re: ssh Agent admitted failure to sign using the key on big endian machines
I have had the problem on my upgraded from Intrepid Jaunty installation. It seems to be that gnome-keyring has a problem while reading my private key in dos format (CR/LF). After converting it to unix format it works like a charm. I've used dos2unix (tofrodos package) to do the job. -- ssh Agent admitted failure to sign using the key on big endian machines https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/201786 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to openssh in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 322561] Re: Ubuntu 8.10 has a very slow / sluggish graphics stack.
I have confirmed that the sluggish graphics I reported here for Ubuntu 8.10 is gone in 9.04 today - specifically, the Java performance is restored. Neither have I experienced the snowing effect, also reported here. So, I am unsure of the official way to close this bug report. There is no fix in for 8.10, but the problem is gone in the new, 9.04 release. Hopefully, someone on this bug's watch list knows the proper way to close it out. I believe it is likely the result of the work on the graphics drivers (see bug 288650), but one of the posters there has reported some regressions in the last few days; however, those were in the daily releases between the Jaunty RC last week and Final release, today. -- Ubuntu 8.10 has a very slow / sluggish graphics stack. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/322561 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 302485] Re: No persistence with USB Creator in Ubuntu 8.10
After a few experiments, it seems like roughly 2047MB is the limit for how big persistence can be set to (it's somewhere in between 1025MB and 2047MB, this much I can confirm; I just tried it with 1GB and it worked after two failures with 2GB), if it's above that threshold it just skips creating it (for me it just jumped from about 25% to done). -- No persistence with USB Creator in Ubuntu 8.10 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/302485 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 365883] [NEW] jockey hangs indefinitely
Public bug reported: I'm running 64-bit Jaunty, fully-patched. [Bug 365881] [NEW] wubi installer's pyrun.exe says no disk
Public bug reported: The issue i'm having is with the initial installation. I run Windows XP Home Edition on an HP Pavilion a656x with an added video card and an added stick of memory. It has two optical drives, drive E (a DVD/CD drive) and drive F (a CD drive). Here is what happens... 1. I boot into Windows XP 2. I insert the Ubuntu 9.04 CD into drive E 3. I get a pop-up message window (from pyrun.exe) telling me that there is no disk in drive F 4. My options are Cancel, Try Again, and Continue and the X to close the little window 5. no matter what i click, the error message just pops back up. if I put the CD in the Drive F, then everything happens exactly the same except that in step 3, the message informs me there is no disk in drive E. So, whichever of my two drives i insert the CD into, the installer complains that i don't have a disk in the OTHER drive. In Ubuntu 8.10 (which I no longer have installed on my system), after I inserted the CD, I would simply get a pop-up that presented 3 installation options (and I want to choose the 2nd one: install inside windows)sometimes, if i keep clicking the various buttons randomly like 50 times (Cancel, Try Again, Continue, and the little close X)...I will eventually get the installation options. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- wubi installer's pyrun.exe says no disk https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/365881 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 365885] [NEW] random x server freeze (nvidia)
Public bug reported: Many people have reported the random X freeze with put your card here. I have been hunting down this bug in forums and making some durability tests in my pc. Ok the problem is very random yes it is very random, sometimes 5 min. after boot sometimes it can take up to 3 or 4 days to trigger, however I have hunted down the flash player to trigger the bug quicker than anything else, down to a couple of minutes of hd video playing in flash might trigger the bug, so I am suspecting some video memory leak (not ram but vram) somewhere in the X server or the driver, bug happens with and without compiz enabled. Most of times just the X server freezes however the mouse still moves, also corruption is visible and many flickers on screen and the mouse might freeze after. Some times the hangup is complete no SSH, sometimes machine is accessible via SSH, and rarely switching to console is posssible, however returning to the X server freezes completely the machine. [Bug 364970] Re: (0.1.16) Jaunty: Cannot allocate entire USB drive space for live-persistent-USB
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 302485 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/302485 ** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 302485 No persistence with USB Creator in Ubuntu 8.10 ** Description changed: Binary package hint: usb-creator Booting from: Jaunty daily-live (Apr 20) Package version: usb-creator (0.1.16) ISOs used: Jaunty daily-live (Apr 19, 20) I am trying to create a live-persistent-USB on a 4GB USB drive (FAT 32) using usb-creator. In the gui, I move the slider for persistence file space all the way to the left so it reads 3.1GB allocated for saving system settings, etc. When the program is run, using the above mentioned ISO's, usb-creator will exit with a status of 0 right after it has finished writing the ISO files to the usb. Therefore, the persistence filesystem is never written to the USB drive, but the resulting USB drive is still functional. It is verified that USB is a working, non-persistent live USB. The peculiarity is that if I set the persistence slider to approximately 1.2 GB or below, the entire process works perfectly. The resulting USB is a working, persistent, live USB with approximately 1.2 GB allocated for persistency (or however much drive space I have specified in the gui). I believe it is a bug that I am unable to allocate more USB drive space for persistency. forgive the mistake again...i am still not writing that last paragraph clearly. The entire last paragraph of my original bug report should read as below: With the Ubuntu 8.10 CD, after I insert the CD, I correctly get a pop-up that presents 3 installation options (and I want to choose the 2nd one: install inside windows). With the 9.04 CD, however, i get this error message box and, sometimes, if i keep clicking the various buttons on the error message window randomly like 50 times (Cancel, Try Again, Continue, and the little close X)...I MIGHT eventually get the installation options. He doesn't know what to do, he cannot even look up the solution here and because he's offline, he cannot download and install the knetworkmanager or nm-applet. [Bug 364965] Re: Stable NVIDIA driver 180.51 released - please upgrade in Jaunty
Thanks Philip. As Marc mentioned above, this is a killer bug for anyone with a Fujitsu Celsius H270 netbook, so for anyone who happens to install Jaunty on one of these machines and enables the restricted nvidia driver, their machine will be bricked. Given this I think this is definitely a good reason to push for an SRU. I'll see about producing a patch to update the current package for Jaunty. Unfortunately, I can't really fulfill the other requirements of testing it in the current development release of Ubuntu etc since at the moment there is no development release (given Jaunty was just released). Other than a patch against the current 180.44 package in Jaunty I can't really do much else from what I can see, but am happy to do anything else you can suggest to try and get the SRU done. -- Stable NVIDIA driver 180.51 released - please upgrade in Jaunty https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/364965 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Raptor Ramjet is just right! And (yes, i know it would be a huge amount of work) there should be some more explanations on what the preferences mean. [Bug 365857] Re: bcm4328 wifi card doesn't work with a clean install
firstly depending on the revision of your wifi card i use the bw43-fwcutter. revision one should work out of the box with that installed. revision 2 i have noticed that patches are needed for the 2.6.24 kernel. i have tried the driver mentioned above, which is proprietary and it didnt work. i switched to the fwcutter and things worked outa the box for me even after a reboot. -- bcm4328 wifi card doesn't work with a clean install https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/365857 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 365898] [NEW] skim doesn't always minimize to system tray
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: skim Skim seems to have a nasty habit of refusing to minimize to the system notifications tray. Instead, it launches itself in a detached window containing only the icon itself. This is on a 9.04 Jaunty machine, having installed the gold release a few hours ago. If I forcefully shut skim down - via the right-click context menu, killall skim, or xkill - it gets restarted automatically and again ends up in a new, detached window. If I, however, close it with alt+f4, it *disappears* from view yet runs resident. The hotkeys still work, and if I right-click skim's panel that pops up upon activating (via hotkeys) I can access the configuration window, handwriting recognition via Tomoe, etc. The icon is lost though; it's not in the systray, nor in its own window anymore. Forcefully shutting it down again via those other methods makes it spawn a new window. And yes, the System Tray Icon plugin (in skim's configuration) *is* activated. If I log out and login, or switch to a tty and restart X, or zap (after having disabled DontZap in xorg.conf), it's still detached when I've logged back in. It fixed itself when I rebooted a few hours ago, and then returned now and won't go away, so chances are it'll fix itself again if I do a proper power cycle. Which seems odd. I'm not sure how to reproduce this; I've certainly had it since Gutsy and KDE3, though I always thought it was because of Compiz, since I experienced similar behavior with Adept's Update Notification icon. (It detached itself but obediently docked with the tray if I closed it and restarted it.) I've yet to find a surefire workaround. It's something that just happens by itself and then just fixes itself after a while, as if it has to do with skim launching itself too early, before plasma has had time to draw the tray notification applet, and then after some days/weeks/months of use the system is somehow bogged down (after I installed garbage), slowing its (skim's) startup down and eliminating the issue. Alas, conjecture. skim is set to use scim-panel-kde, config module: kconfig, and to start skim automatically when KDE starts. $ sudo im-switch -l ... The system wide default is pointed by /etc/alternatives/xinput-all_ALL . xinput-all_ALL - status is manual. link currently points to skim ... $ uname -a Linux minidellen 2.6.30-020630rc3-generic #020630rc3 SMP Wed Apr 22 14:14:13 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux $ apt-cache policy skim kdebase-workspace-bin libplasma3 skim: Installed: 1.4.5-4ubuntu3 Candidate: 1.4.5-4ubuntu3 Version table: *** 1.4.5-4ubuntu3 0 500 http://se.archive.ubuntu.com jaunty/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status kdebase-workspace-bin: Installed: 4:4.2.2-0ubuntu2 Candidate: 4:4.2.2-0ubuntu2 Version table: *** 4:4.2.2-0ubuntu2 0 500 http://se.archive.ubuntu.com jaunty/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status libplasma3: Installed: 4:4.2.2-0ubuntu5 Candidate: 4:4.2.2-0ubuntu5 Version table: *** 4:4.2.2-0ubuntu5 0 500 http://se.archive.ubuntu.com jaunty/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status (kdebase-workspace-bin because that's where plasma_applet_systemtray.so is.)
