[Bug 374230] Re: topercent2 test fail on i386 and lpia causing FTBFS
This testcase is also failing for hurd-i386 on Debian, though with a different backend (your failures are for flint, the hurd-i386 is for remote-prog): http://buildd.debian-ports.org/fetch.php?pkg=xapian- core&arch=hurd-i386&ver=1.0.12-2&stamp=1241429577&file=log&as=raw I haven't investigated this yet (I'd have to track down a hurd-i386 to test it on, or install it specially), but had wondered if it was related to excess precision. Does lpia have excession precision (i.e. does it represent FP results in registers with a higher precision than they have in memory)? It is also curious that 1.0.12-2 built fine for me on jaunty: https://launchpad.net/~xapian-backports/+archive/ppa It would be useful to see the output from this run in the build tree on either (or both): cd tests ./apitest -bflint -v topercent2 -- topercent2 test fail on i386 and lpia causing FTBFS https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/374230 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 374062] Re: Can't edit while search dialog is open
Thank you for your quick answer. Lets try to be more clear: Quick explanation: I expected to write on the source without closing the "find and replace" dialog window (see attached image). Long explanation: Lets say that you want to modify some text that you know that it's near the expresion "name", and lets say that you have to repeat that action ten times. Then you go to "Find and replace" and search "name". I think that it should be better if you could modify that text near "name" without closing the "Find and replace" dialog, so after modification you can go to the next "name" easily. Of course, you can close the "Find and replace" dialog and then use F3 to search the next "name", but thats not intuitive. Obviously, it is not an ugly bug... just a sugestion to improve Kompozer. :) 2009/5/9 Ben Crisford > A bit more information would be brill if thats ok. > > First of all, it would be better if you didn't rely on the title to > explain the bug :). > > Also, could you tell us how you produced this problem in detail, because > people such as me - new to kompozer might struggle to try and reproduce > it. > > And one other thing; as I said, I am new to kompozer, and for the bug to > be confirmed we need to know what you would have expected to happen when > you took the actions which produced the bug. > > Please don't be put off by these criteria, they're just there to get > bugs fixed as quickly and efficently as possible. An idea: (I'm on Jaunty) ... this error came up when i installed the "wicd" network manager to use for other window manager sessions. anyway, it's pretty obvious why i received this error... but maybe it will help others in solving their problem. as a solution to whatever that problem is, a workaround could be installing a different manager such as "wicd". i am now wondering, however, what if i want to re-enable my previous network manager and drop this one? would it be automatic after removing "wicd" or would i have to do something to enable the default one? -- The NetworkManager applet could not find some required resources. Actually, the one on Nautilus isn't far from what Windows does anyway - except that it's a View toolstrip button and it never actually shows the actual selected view on the button directly. [Bug 374286] Re: Network Manager is erroneously overwriting resolv.conf
Can you give more details on what you are expecting to happen with resolv.conf, and what you get instead? First we need to narrow this problem down between network-manager and resolvconf. From the logs, Network Manager appears to be properly asking 'resolvconf' to update the DNS servers: May 9 19:29:56 fshlinux NetworkManager: (wlan0): writing resolv.conf to /sbin/resolvconf May 9 19:29:56 fshlinux NetworkManager: (wlan0): device state change: 7 -> 8 May 9 19:29:56 fshlinux NetworkManager: (wlan0): writing resolv.conf to /sbin/resolvconf May 9 19:29:56 fshlinux NetworkManager: Policy set 'Auto fshome' (wlan0) as default for routing and DNS. The question is, is resolvconf properly set up to actually handle those requests? On your system, is /etc/resolv.conf still a symbolic link to /etc/resolvconf/run/resolv.conf? Have you rebooted? It looks like resolvconf is designed to keep the existing resolv.conf in place until you reboot. Can you post the output of this sequence of commands? ls -l /etc/resolv.conf cat /etc/resolv.conf echo "nameserver 127.0.0.1" | sudo /sbin/resolvconf -a eth100 cat /etc/resolv.conf echo "nameserver 127.0.0.1" | sudo /sbin/resolvconf -d eth100 cat /etc/resolv.conf -- Network Manager is erroneously overwriting resolv.conf https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/374286 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 317127] Re: evtouch calibrate tool does not detect mouse position
Hi hackeron, thanks for the input. I looked into the patch, and you're right, it was not applying. However, I was thrown off before, because I looked into the source and some patches were applied, due to the new code and version difference I think, but not all. So I looked into it more, and even though it might work, I'm still trying to figure out how to apply the patch properly, as it seems important code has changed since version 0.8.3 (which the patch seems to be for) and version 0.8.8, which might be why it was commented out, and thus some things are not patching due to code change. Before continuing, I am trying to figure the patch out, and see if it can be updated, and any help from developers would be appreciated, as it is better to know exactly what is being done and happening, so as to be able to make an official and proper patch. [Bug 337040] Re: [LENOVO ThinkPad T61] suspend/resume failure [non-free: nvidia]
Bug 235284 contained information that helped me solve this for my T61p. Specifically, for my particular Lenovo (T61p, model 6459) I used information from this post: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/235284/comments/13 Other Lenovo models require different edits to /usr/share/hal/fdi/information/10freedesktop/20-video-quirk-pm-lenovo.fdi but most users in that bug discussion report success by modifying the keys used for a particular model. I was running Hardy x64 with NVidia binary drivers (180.54). Upgraded to Jaunty 9.04 last night, observed same problem again. Had to re-edit the file (commenting out true) and restarted HAL and it again suspends/resumes just fine. -- [LENOVO ThinkPad T61] suspend/resume failure [non-free: nvidia] https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/337040 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 284687] Re: fglrx works, but window moving/resizing and scrolling are very, very slow; desktop effects don't work
Yes I can definitely confirm this problem also. I upgraded to 8.1 from 8.04 and like an idiot used the proprietary ATI drivers. lesson learnt. Anywas I basically did what everyone else did: find everthing to do with Radeon and ATI ( i used synaptic then used the terminal to fully purge the crap) and also got rid of compiz. Then I took the extra and possibly unnecessary step of removing the card and running with the onboard graphics for a minute, shutting down and reinstalling the card. Not sure if this made a diff. ALSO, ppl make sure to turn OFF your on board graphics in the BIOS. It can cause issues sometimes too. -- fglrx works, but window moving/resizing and scrolling are very, very slow; desktop effects don't work https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/284687 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 374347] Re: screen glitch on fresh install hardy
What you have is onboard graphics which use just enough CPU to perform the basic computing needs. It takes some of the load off of the CPU. Now it sounds like you have a new install if this hasn't made you wanna thro out your comp. There is two ways to fix this depending on your needs A) keep the onboard graphics since you only use it for low resolution Apps like OpenOffice or crusing the internet. To fix this to make it bearable goto System >Preferences> Appearance and on the last tab marked Visual Effects click none. This should get rid of all the special effects. The glitches were effects the apps do when opening and closing and since you have onboard graphics it couldn't handle it so the CPU had to take over the load. B) Get you a good Nvidia or ATI card with at least 128MB (64MB will give better graphics and maybe 3d rendering but not much more) and 270 Mhz clock speed. this will take a huge load off the processor. I highly recommend a card with at least 256MB, but hell I used an old Nvidia card with 8MB and it still smoked the onboard graphics. Make sure that you know wheter you PCI, AGP, or PCI express. If after trying one or both (I recommend just getting the video card; cheap; easy to install; and they don't follow Moores law anymore thank God!) you still have choppy effects, system RAM would most likely be the issue. Of course make sure that in Software Sources you have all the boxes checked (except CDROM with Ubuntu) Third party software should all be enabled and under Updates enable them. After that double check everything and close Software Sources. It will ask to reload, click it, it will gray out and disappear. Do a software update, reboot, and should be golden. I recommend doing the updates first. -- screen glitch on fresh install hardy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/374347 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 374351] [NEW] fglrx - X desktop is garbled on Radeon Mobility X1400
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg-driver-fglrx This problem occurs with package: xorg-driver-fglrx 2:8.600-0ubuntu2 (jaunty) After installing this package I can't get to the X desktop; the screen is garbled. More specifically it looks like the screen is rendering but each raster is offset (stair-stepping, like the rendered buffer pitch is wrong). I'm gonna take a wild stab in the dark and say one of the following is happening: - The desktop is rendering in a different pixel format to scan out. - The primary render target size is wrong. - The primary render target pitch is wrong. Also worth noting is that X is 'working'; I can still interact and shut the machine down. I can even see the desktop trying to render but it looks like a total mess up at the top of the screen with some random memory junk at the bottom. I'm running on a Dell Inspiron 9400 with a Radeon Mobility X1400. I've also tried to get a screenshot; obviously I can't do this from the desktop so I had to break out the trusty camera (apologies for the blurriness). * Version Information > lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 9.04 Release: 9.04 > uname -r 2.6.28-11-generic > lspci -v ... 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Radeon Mobility X1400 Subsystem: Dell Device 2002 Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 16 Memory at c000 (32-bit, prefetchable) [size=256M] I/O ports at ee00 [size=256] Memory at dfdf (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=64K] Expansion ROM at dfe0 [disabled] [size=128K] Capabilities: ... ** Affects: linux-restricted-modules-2.6.24 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: ati fglrx x1400 -- fglrx - X desktop is garbled on Radeon Mobility X1400 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/374351 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 373516] Re: xorg doesn't recognize the non- ASCII variant of character ” in xorg.conf
Well, to be honest with you, I think that it should handle this particular situation by treating the quote character as a quote character. I fully expected to be able to paste the chunk of text above into xorg.conf by sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf clicking the last line and pressing control V. Like I mentioned, I couldn't tell the difference at first glance between the special non-ascii quotes and the ones I get by pressing the quote character. Do I think thats a reasonable expectation? no. For now, if X tells me the reason it crashed is because I gave it non-ascii characters in its conf file, that would be a good pointer to me for how to fix it. Telling me that xorg.conf is corrupted, while accurate, doesn't help me narrow down the exact cause. (If i'm remembering the exact error message it gives wrong let me know. I tried it a few days ago and could easily be mis-remembering) Or, if its not unreasonable to do this, is there a way that X can look through the file and say to itself "hmm, this isn't an ascii character, but it could represent a quote character in the specific encoding its using. Does the conf file make sense if i treat it as a quote?" Is this a better job for a special program? I think Matrin makes a good point that bringing X to the point where editing Xorg.conf would solve many problems. -Mike -- xorg doesn't recognize the non-ASCII variant of character ” in xorg.conf https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/373516 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 374345] [NEW] Sauerbraten - Startup/loading screen renders text and widgets as blue silhouettes
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: sauerbraten The startup screen renders the loading progress bar and all text as blue silhouettes - consequently none of the text is readable. This happens regardless of the rendering mode used; it affects fixed function (-f0) as well as per-pixel (-f3). Note the "Initializing..." text looks fine (so texture fetch and alpha test is probably okay) but some other render state seems to be fubar-ing the color output (fog? color mask?). I'm running on a Dell Inspiron 9400 with a Radeon Mobility X1400. I've attached a screenshot showing the problem. On one occasion trying to grab a screenshot of this caused the machine to lock up *HARD* (creeping LCD whiteout, widespread screen corruption, fireworks and everything but a kernel panic). * Version Information > lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 9.04 Release: 9.04 > uname -r 2.6.28-11-generic > apt-cache policy sauerbraten sauerbraten: Installed: 0.0.20080620.dfsg-1 Candidate: 0.0.20080620.dfsg-1 Version table: *** 0.0.20080620.dfsg-1 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com jaunty/multiverse Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status > apt-cache policy xserver-xorg-video-ati xserver-xorg-video-ati: Installed: 1:6.12.1-0ubuntu2 Candidate: 1:6.12.1-0ubuntu2 Version table: *** 1:6.12.1-0ubuntu2 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com jaunty/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status > apt-cache policy xserver-xorg-video-radeon xserver-xorg-video-radeon: Installed: 1:6.12.1-0ubuntu2 Candidate: 1:6.12.1-0ubuntu2 Version table: *** 1:6.12.1-0ubuntu2 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com jaunty/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status > lspci -v ... 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Radeon Mobility X1400 Subsystem: Dell Device 2002 Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 16 Memory at c000 (32-bit, prefetchable) [size=256M] I/O ports at ee00 [size=256] Memory at dfdf (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=64K] Expansion ROM at dfe0 [disabled] [size=128K] Capabilities: ... ** Affects: sauerbraten (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: ati opengl sauerbraten x1400 -- Sauerbraten - Startup/loading screen renders text and widgets as blue silhouettes https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/374345 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 371106] Re: Scrolling by pressing bottom arrow in scrollbar causes strange behaviors
** Description changed: Binary package hint: firefox-3.0 On the site http://slashdot.org/ scroll by clicking repeatedly on the down-arrow of the vertical scrollbar. Every day somewhere around the middle it will jump several articles with one click. It seems to be related to certain ad's going by but I'm not sure of that. + + Update: This bug cannot be reproduced by scrolling quickly. It only + seems to happen when scrolling and pausing, at the speed of reading the + web page. Also, it seems to be a problem in Firefox computing the size + of the web page. When this happens the scrollbar thumb is approaching + the bottom when the jump happens. Then after the jump the thumb pops up + to the upper part of the scrollbar and reduces in size as if the visible + area is now a smaller percentage of the total page. Another related problem happens if you press the same down-arrow button and leave it pressed for continuous scrolling. As the web page scrolls the window will suddenly dim and a message appears saying "Firehose Paused due to inactivity". These problems don't happen in Windows XP using the same version of Firefox. [Bug 374337] [NEW] gthumb image window loses battle with data and comment windows
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gthumb There are two problems here: 1) Gnome image apps, like gthumb, never open maximized so as to give the biggest possible view of an image; 2) Gthumb's viewer window loses the space battle with it's system data and comment windows.
