There is no bug here. The solution seems simple to me: Both e-mike and i-mike are muted in Ubuntu 9.04 by default: Click on the loudspeaker icon near the clock, choose volume control and see if the mikes are muted (little red cross over them). Click on the crossed mikes and they will work.
