It looks like a kernel CIFS issue, but I can't reproduce that.
Tested on kernel 2.6.30-6-server with a karmic CIFS client.
Could you please indicate the kernel version you're running ? Can you
reproduce it systematically ? What is the samba share you're connecting
to ? (version of server).

Well, Ubuntu ships bind9 with an apparmor profile, not a chroot. If you change
its configuration to run in a chroot, you must obviously also change the
apparmor configuration so that it matches your specific way of doing things.

I do want to add that if you stop the server with the following command:
sudo /etc/init.d/mysql stop
Then do the update it seemed to work (at least for me).
When the server is shut down the script still fails.

mysql_safe with one eating all the CPU. I installed mytop but didn't

NotifyOSD notifications shouldn't appear when using fullscreen applications
I have the same problem, but with the KDE Network Manager Plasma Widget.
The Card is definitely detected by Networkmanager and even by the widget
itself (hovering over it shows ttyUSB0 Not connected), but mobile

Well, Kubuntu 8.10 was so buggy that I made the move to 9.04 - it couldn't be
worst - and I am happier. I recommend everyone with Kubuntu 8.10 and the use of
KDE4 to upgrade. 9.04 was much more stable. Kubuntu 8.10 is the worst release
of Kubuntu they ever made! :/

For the record, this still happens with the latest -intel/UXA/KMS
versions.
However, it does _not_ happen any more on my system since I plugged in a
second GB of RAM. Now it has two RAM pipelines available which
apparently makes memory operations fast enough to avoid the underruns. I
