[Bug 390556] [NEW] openssh-server dos regression in jaunty (oom_adj)
*** This bug is a security vulnerability *** Public security bug reported: Binary package hint: openssh-server All child processes of openssh-server inherit the oom_adj value of -17 which makes the unkillable in low memory situation. Any user logged into the machine via ssh can cause a kernel-panic by creating a process that simply consumes memory. I have reported this before for Hardy (Bug #293000). [Bug 390579] [NEW] Enable UDP support (-DLDAP_CONNECTIONLESS) for Likewise-Open
Public bug reported: Our OpenLDAP is compiled (as is the default) without client support for CLDAP (connection-less LDAP, over UDP). This is primarily due to CLDAP never making it into a standard, as evidenced by its proposed move to historical status as RFC3352. However, CLDAP is used by Active Directory, and Likewise-Open requires its (client) openldap library to support CLDAP in order to talk with Active Directory. This makes Likewise-Open 5 compile and bundle its own OpenLDAP library for the sole purpose of getting CLDAP client support built-in. As Likewise-Open 5 is scheduled to move to main on this cycle, it makes sense to try to avoid shipping a private OpenLDAP library with it. Outcome of the discussion at UDS with Howard Chu was that enabling -DLDAP_CONNECTIONLESS should not have adverse performance or stability consequences. ** Affects: openldap (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Enable UDP support (-DLDAP_CONNECTIONLESS) for Likewise-Open https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/390579 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to openldap in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

It is fully reproductible with the steps I've descriped above. [Bug 277556] Re: should build kernel modules with dkms
Hi Craig, The vmtoolsd issue is a problem in the vmtoolsd source, not the package (although symlinking can help in the meantime as you've noticed). I'll fix it in the Tools source. -- should build kernel modules with dkms https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/277556 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is a direct subscriber. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Thanks, Marcelo! No GNOME apps except nm-applet. GTK apps : Pidgin and Seamonkey. xrestop shows that top X resources are used by Okular, about 136 MB. I have 2GB RAM but my X server VSZ inflates up to 2 GB very soon after the reboot (during the first day of uptime) and starts to push everything else to the swap. [Bug 387297] Re: manage-credentials should not ask for Launchpad password directly
Good morning, I would like to give my input about the problems with the web browser oriented Sign into Launchpad approach for UI clients. Actually, I don't think there is a difference between trusting a webbrowser and an UI client. As for leonov, we don't save any passwords somewhere in the code...this is something we need to avoid. Yes, the password is clear-text in saved in a variable, but only as long as we need it to authenticate to launchpad. Then it's the developers task to remove those bits. Anyhow, the problem we are approaching is, using the browser or the ui client, that you need to trust your network infrastructure, so that it really connects to launchpad and not to e.g. vi /etc/hosts some internal ip launchpad.net or any other dns forgery. The only way to do that, is to have openID, and to have a possibility to answer yes, it's me who wants to sign into launchpad. The approach with username + password is bad, but having no other chance to avoid a browser for ui clients, I think our leonov workaround is the best thing someone can do. [Bug 387297] Re: manage-credentials should not ask for Launchpad password directly
Good Morning again, after thinking about this problem, it would be a good idea, to have a web widget alike. If you think that a webbrowser is the only trusted client app, you could add a simple non cssed html page fragment with an LP auth form, which could be included in any UI client code (e.g. via qt/gtk-webkit widget), or try the openid approach. [Bug 390304] Re: external usb disk drives are mounted under their UUID's
Actually, I used to have this problem in Karmic, but I cannot reproduce it any more. Your dk-disks dump shows that your device does not actually have a label (or that dk-disks fails to detect it). When you plugged in such a device in question, can you please also attach /var/log/kern.log, and give me the output of sudo blkid /dev/sd* ? ** Package changed: devicekit (Ubuntu) = gvfs (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: gvfs (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed ** Package changed: gvfs (Ubuntu) = devicekit-disks (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: devicekit-disks (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Incomplete -- external usb disk drives are mounted under their UUID's https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/390304 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 386740] Re: [K8M800] mouse pointer corruptly displayed at the bottom of the X screen
Do you mean: pScrn-currentMode-HDisplay pScrn-currentMode-VDisplay pScrn-virtualX pScrn-virtualY ? I created a debug patch (attached) to print out these variables. When I use the original xorg.conf file the variables show a resolution of 1600x1200. (II) CHROME(0): via_cursor.c:330: pScrn-currentMode-HDisplay=1600 (II) CHROME(0): via_cursor.c:332: pScrn-currentMode-VDisplay=1200 (II) CHROME(0): via_cursor.c:334: pScrn-virtualX=1600 (II) CHROME(0): via_cursor.c:336: pScrn-virtualY=1200 My native panel resolution is 1024x768. When I use the Virtual 1024 768 then the screen is no longer cropped and the mouse pointer is displayed also correctly as I mentioned in comment #11 ( https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video- openchrome/+bug/386740/comments/11 ). Applying the patch http://launchpadlibrarian.net/27411446/panel_pm800_new2.patch results a complete system freeze on Clevo D410J when I execute /etc/init.d/gdm restart from the console. Different colored pixels appear on the screen when the system is freezed (the Caps Lock is not working). ** Attachment added: openchrome-debug-xy.patch http://launchpadlibrarian.net/28192374/openchrome-debug-xy.patch -- [K8M800] mouse pointer corruptly displayed at the bottom of the X screen https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/386740 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
