@Tom Jaeger, I think the original poster referred to downscaling.
However, I've only been able to reproduce anomalies when upscaling.
Having said this, I checked bug #217908 but it refers to blurred images
when upscaling. In the example attached above, the image is not blurred
when scaled but

2.6.28-13-generic is the alsa-driver 1.0.20, while the older kernel still uses
an older alsa-version, which as far as I know didn't break the usb-devices. So

On loading gnumeric 1.9.9 on up-to-date Karmic 64-bit, no row numbers
appear in the leftmost column but column letters appear in the topmost

post is flooded with logs, and I'm not sure if I should attach mine.
