[Bug 315591] Re: LD_LIBRARY_PATH set in ~/.profile doesn't stick
I did a quick check doing a GNOME session from kdm: the issue is there. Personally, I'm using .gnomerc. [Bug 405116] Re: HP Deskjet d2600 Series default ppd file has wrong margins
I have observed this problem with several other HP printers. Since the introduction of the CUPS Raster driver "hpcups" the margins of the printouts are not correct any more. This is easiest to see with the Ubuntu test page which gets printed from system-config-printer. This is an upstream bug of HPLIP. To the developers at HP: It is possible that it is caused by my last fixes on the "cups" output device of Ghostscript to add support for new PPD keywords and fix the margin handling (Ghostscript SVN revisions 9691, 9701, 9702, 9712, 9713, 9721, 9746 in April/May this year). These changes appear as patch inm Karmic's Ghostscript and will be in the officially released Ghostscript from version 8.65 on which is due next week. If you can fix this only in a way that it breaks for Ghostscript 8.64 and older, add a "--with- gs865" option to ./configure, so that one can choose the adjustment for either the old buggy "cups" output device or the new fixed one. So please test with Ubuntu Karmic. ** Summary changed: - HP Deskjet d2600 Series default ppd file has wrong margins + "hpcups" driver of HPLIP has broken margins -- "hpcups" driver of HPLIP has broken margins https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/405116 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 405155] [NEW] No prompt to install "ubuntu-restricted-extras" packages
Public bug reported: Testing in Karmic Alpha 3 On a fresh install , If the user tires to visit a site which uses .asf , for streaming videos , the totem-mozilla plugin [windows media plugin] doesnt work. [this .asf is used by several sites which require user accounts to view streaming video channels] The plugin doesnt work because the required codecs dont exist on a default install, and the user is not warned that the codecs need to be installed. *Since there is no prompt the user has no idea of what is wrong/missing* . *There needs to be a prompt , when the plugin doesnt work , that a codec needs to be installed* . [AFAIK , The totem-mozilla plugin doesnt work until codecs , which dont exist in the default install, are installed] Installing the "ubuntu-restricted-extras" packages , should cover all the required codecs , and other scenarios as well. [Bug 405152] [NEW] Intel WiFi rfkill switch now defaults to on (wireless off)
Public bug reported: For my laptop (Acer Timeline 3810t), after upgrading to 2.6.31, the RFKILL switch now defaults to on (wireless disabled) on every boot. It works if I manually turn off the switch. The switch is a toggle switch, and it used to default to off under 2.6.30/alpha 2. I am using the iwlagn driver. The card is an Intel 5100. 01:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation Wireless WiFi Link 5100 Kernel driver in use: iwlagn Kernel modules: iwlagn I have tried using the RFKILL utility found here - http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Documentation/rfkill, to no avail. [Bug 86919] Re: transport shouldn't indirect through control_files
bzr no longer indirects through control_files for IO-type operations, which was the original purpose of this bug. The main purpose of LockableFiles as it currently exists is to coordinate a transaction object with the state of the lock. It also still provides the _find_modes method. _find_modes is already softly deprecated in favor of BzrDir._find_creation_modes; if/when the class as a whole is deprecated the attributes that it creates will be gone. Alternatively we could turn them into deprecated properties. If this reasoning is correct, then Branch, which does not use get_transaction, should never need a control_files. (Removing it may strictly be a compatibility break for Branch though.) There are also quite a large number of methods on Branch that just forward to the control_files, that can go to a CountedLock instead. -- transport shouldn't indirect through control_files https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/86919 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: I updated to Karmic two days ago and I am noticing something very strange in thunderbird (2.0.0.22+build1+nobinonly-0ubuntu2). Results from the non-GUI boot (no flash, no quiet): - new output on stdout like "Adding live session user". [Bug 321442] Re: NM ignores "system"-level connections if files are world-readable
I can confirm that this bug is not related to permissions issues. I am having the same problem on my system. When I attempt to make a connection available to all users, it disappears from the connection editor, and then a file with the connection name appears in /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections. That connection never appears in the connection editor again, and I can't activate it in the Gnome network manager applet. This happens whether the connection I create is wired or wireless. My /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections looks like this: -rw--- 1 root root 550 2009-07-26 20:25 Auto Burton -rw--- 1 root root 298 2009-07-26 20:42 Auto eth0 -rw--- 1 root root 284 2009-07-26 20:27 Auto eth1 -rw--- 1 root root 297 2009-07-26 20:45 Auto eth2 -rw--- 1 root root 303 2009-07-26 21:22 Foobar -rw--- 1 root root 307 2009-07-26 21:22 Foobar2 -rw--- 1 root root 324 2009-07-26 20:46 Wired connection 1 As you can see here, I created connections called Foobar, Foobar2, and Wired connection 1. These all disappeared when I attempted to make them available to all users. In addition, when I attempted to edit an existing connection, Auto eth0, and reconfigure to use a zeroconf local network, it disappeared from the connection editor as well, and I couldn't enable the connection. I still can't figure out how to get Auto eth0 back. (Wired connection 1 was the result of my initial attempt to recreate a wired connection for the interface eth0. After this, I confirmed the problem by creating connections called Foobar and Foobar2.) -- NM ignores "system"-level connections if files are world-readable https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/321442 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 405129] [NEW] X segfaults with startkde (intel 865G)
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg I compile KDE trunk myself and also use xorg-eders PPA. It seems the latest xorg from the PPA crashes with the startkde script from KDE trunk. It segfaults and refuses to display anything. My machine is using the old 865G and it seems quite problematic. [Bug 405125] [NEW] wicd Only Connects When Reinstalled
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: wicd I am using Kubuntu Jaunty 64-bit on a Dell Inspiron 15n that shipped with Ubuntu. The default Kubuntu plasma-widget-network-manager does connect to my WEP Hex (non-hidden) wireless network, and the default network manager that ships with Ubuntu also works. Kubuntu and Ubuntu live CD's also work fine. However, I prefer to use WICD because I find it more efficient and its always worked, until now. First, I removed (and purged) the network manager package and the plasma widget package that ships with Kubuntu. When I installed wicd, it worked perfectly right away and it connected to my wireless network with no problems whatsoever. It works for about ten minutes, and then the connection disconnects. After that, no matter how many times I reboot or try to reconnect, I will never get the connection back. It hangs at "obtaining IP address". I MUST purge the wicd package and reinstall it, then I will get ten more minutes of use before having to purge it and reinstall it again. wicd works fine on another laptop that is used in this house, but not mine. My laptop uses a broadcom 4312 rev 01 card. ** Affects: wicd (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- wicd Only Connects When Reinstalled https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/405125 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 401205] Re: Split transaction won't allow an account
Thanks, That's what I figured out already. I built an asset account and brute force moved all of the investments out of the two 401 investment accounts. Now both of those accounts are empty; how can I delete them? There are no transactions to either of them and no statements in either account, yet the delete option is grayed out. I'd like to remove them to reduce the on screen clutter. Also there doesn't seem to be any way to set a starting balance in an investment account once it's built. Kind of a pain. I've read through most of the on-line manual and it leaves a lot of questions. Same problem here. It shows the "unplugged" icon when I am connected to wireless. If I connect to a wired connection, only then does the icon change. [Bug 270822] Re: please upgrade syslinux from debian to 3.82
Tested with Karmic Alpha 2 ISO (still downloading Alpha 3) and a nightly Karmic chroot as build environment. Testing Done: updated isolinux.bin and vesamenu.c32 with the ones built in my PPA. Added gfxboot.com. Built with: sudo mkisofs -r -V 'Ubuntu 9.10 i386' -o karmic-alternate-i386-hacked.iso -cache-inodes -J -l -b isolinux/isolinux.bin -c isolinux/boot.cat -no-emul-boot -boot-load-size 4 -boot-info-table new_iso Bad news: isolinux.cfg needs to be patched otherwise the CD triggers a reboot (triple fault?). gfxboot.com seems to procure the list of labels from isolinux.cfg to gfxboot but doesn't respect "include" directives: it only parses isolinux.cfg. Ubuntu's gfxboot script (menuconfig.inc from gfxboot-theme-ubuntu) does the right thing though and successfully parses all cfg files, but then tries to match the labels provided by the com module with the labels it has parsed (to set the human readable names). Because of this mismatch, labels in other config files but isolinux.cfg are not displayed. The following patch is need to isolinux.cfg (explicitely states labels in isolinux.cfg): isolinux > diff -du isolinux.cfg.orig isolinux.cfg --- isolinux.cfg.orig 2009-07-25 08:43:55.0 -0700 +++ isolinux.cfg2009-07-26 20:27:24.0 -0700 @@ -2,4 +2,8 @@ default vesamenu.c32 prompt 0 timeout 0 -gfxboot bootlogo +label install +label check +label memtest +label hd +ui gfxboot.com bootlogo Tested all four labels and played with the UI (modes, ...). Worked fine. It seems that with Syslinux 4, gfxboot scripts won't have to parse configuration files anymore. In the meantime, gfxboot-theme-ubuntu may need to be patched to avoid the previous hack. Shouldn't be too hard though. -- please upgrade syslinux from debian to 3.82 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/270822 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 405120] Re: resume from suspend doesn't work (powers off instead) for Acer Timeline 3810t
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately we can't fix it without more information. Please include the following additional information, if you have not already done so (pay attention to lspci's additional options), as required by the Ubuntu Kernel Team: 1. Please include the output of the command "uname -a" in your next response. It should be one, long line of text which includes the exact kernel version you're running, as well as the CPU architecture. 2. Please run the command "dmesg > dmesg.log" after a fresh boot and attach the resulting file "dmesg.log" to this bug report. 3. Please run the command "sudo lspci -vvnn > lspci-vvnn.log" and attach the resulting file "lspci-vvnn.log" to this bug report. For your reference, the full description of procedures for kernel- related bug reports is available at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/KernelTeamBugPolicies Thanks in advance! ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- resume from suspend doesn't work (powers off instead) for Acer Timeline 3810t https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/405120 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
