[Bug 409235] Re: mom
Thank you for using Ubuntu and taking the time to report a bug. Your report should contain, at a minimum, the following information so we can better find the source of the bug and work to resolve it. Submitting the bug about the proper source package is essential. For help see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . Additionally, in the report please include: 1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'cat /etc/lsb-release' or System - About Ubuntu. 2) The version of the package you are using, via 'dpkg -l PKGNAME | cat' or by checking in Synaptic. 3) What happened and what you expected to happen. The Ubuntu community has also created debugging procedures for a wide variety of packages at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures . Following the debugging instructions for the affected package will make your bug report much more complete. [Bug 394385] Re: [karmic] php packages need update to 5.3
I've been reading up on: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MeetingLogs/Server/20090707 Great job coming up with a php 5.3 suhosin patch so soon Raphael, thanks a lot for that. It would be very to have late static binding (, 20% perfomance boost, namespaces, closures, etc) in Karmic already. I think it may even convince some PHP people to give Ubuntu a try, if they're stuck on 5.3 versions with their distro of choice. On the other hand, some things really are a bit different from 5.2: http://kevin.vanzonneveld.net/techblog/article/prepare_for_php_53/ (sorry for the plug) ..and people may not want to upgrade their webservers to Karmic in fear of breaking their PHP apps; currently running fine on Jaunty. Most of the resulting impact can be hidden/minimized by tinkering with some ini settings (still enable shorttags, hide deprecated messages), but the quest rises if that's the way to fly. It will only make it harder for PHPers to upgrade to future version that will totally drop support for some functions features. -- [karmic] php packages need update to 5.3 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/394385 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to php5 in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 411187] Re: Firefox 3.0 - Bookmarks do not appear in sidebar
Thank you for reporting this to Ubuntu. I will address your issues individually. In the future, please open a separate bug for each issue. 1. The proper way to update packages is with your package manager. It's easier to disable the option than to change the functionality from what is the standard. You should get updates regularly with your system updates. 2. This is the only issue we can address in this bug. Are you saying there is nothing in the sidebar when you select Bookmarks from the Sidebar menu under Tools? Could you please see if this this occurs with a new profile? You do not need to deleted your old profile to test. firefox -ProfileManager 3. We do not support RealPlayer. You can open a bug with Medibuntu if you would like support for the RealPlayer package if you installed their version. https://launchpad.net/medibuntu/+filebug ** Changed in: firefox-3.0 (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- Firefox 3.0 - Bookmarks do not appear in sidebar https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/411187 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 396928] Re: Firefox 3.5 identifies as Shiretoko
What the application is called in GUI-elements doesn't really matter all that much. It does after all simplify package-management slightly when the decision has been made not to make it a default upgrade on old distributions. That the browser identifies itself as Shiretoko to websites is however a problem. It seem to be a string that is carried over in the config for users who already used a beta and then upgraded to final later. 3.5.x final should ideally update this during its first startup along with the check for add-on compatibility etc. Users do however have the ability to change it later by opening about:config in the location bar, search for general.useragent.extra.firefox and change it from Shiretoko/3.5.x to Firefox/3.5.x. That does seem to fix the problems I've had with browser compatibility on some sites. I don't know whether there are sites that rely on being able to identify Shiretoko though. -- Firefox 3.5 identifies as Shiretoko https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/396928 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 18995] Re: [MASTER] Open With dialog not user-friendly
I don't know all the details, but the default page in Firefox is simply a configuration option No, that configuration option was removed sometime in 2004: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=269664 I agree that the patch should be applied upstream, however, that does not mean that Ubuntu cannot apply the patch to Firefox distributed with Ubuntu until the Mozilla folks get around to fixing the issue. The Mozilla public bugtracker is generally ignored in developing Mozilla products, especially in regards to new feature requests or non-crasher bugs. Very few new Firefox or Thunderbird features started off as Bugzilla RFEs, and very rarely does an RFE or non-crasher / non-security bug get fixed. We will be waiting a long time to see the fix implemented in Firefox, if ever. If this were a Zim or KDE bug, I would agree that waiting for upstream to apply the patch would be reasonable. But Mozilla? Nobody with experience filing bugs on Mozilla products would hold their breath waiting for Mozilla to fix a non-crasher / non-security bug. In Mozilla's defence, security issues are dealt with _fast_ and I give them all the credit in the world for their dedication to keeping the browser secure. ** Bug watch added: Mozilla Bugzilla #269664 https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=269664 -- [MASTER] Open With dialog not user-friendly https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/18995 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 407970] Re: Wine, Pulseaudio and no more sound in 2.6.31 - regression?
There will only be a pulseaudio option if you have the correct libraries in place when you build the code. [Bug 359407] Re: Jaunty icedtea6-plugin doesn ’t work in Firefox 3.5
This is a high-importance bug since any applet embedded in a web page can cause Firefox to spin the CPU at 100% until the entire Firefox process is killed. The user has no control over the launching of a Java applet nor warning that a page contains one. Now that firefox-3.5 takes over the /usr/bin/firefox symbolic link this becomes more invasive since any desktop shortcuts or links embedded in application configurations that expect to launch a working firefox-3.0 will launch firefox-3.5 instead. ** Changed in: firefox-3.5 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = High -- Jaunty icedtea6-plugin doesn’t work in Firefox 3.5 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/359407 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
