[Bug 439288] Re: 1.6~bzr854-0ubuntu13 fails to run instances
I won't have time to spend more time on that this morning. I validated that this bug does *not* happen in that scenario: - Install amd64 20090930.2 ISO (with 0ubuntu12) - manual registration - upgrade to 0ubuntu13 I also validated that this bug doesn't occus in that scenario: - Install i386 20090930.2 ISO (with 0ubuntu12) - upgrade to 0ubuntu13 Two things to consider: 1/ Maybe the issue is introduced by direct installation of ubuntu13 from the ISO tasksel. It introduces subtle differences (like not starting the services while still running the postinsts) that may explain it... 2/ Maybe it was a screwup in my test. Definitely a possibility, since I'm the only one that tested that ISO and I ran the full test only once (you know how much time it takes :) In both cases we should work on postbeta daily ISOs (shipping ubuntu13) to validate or invalidate my findings. ** Changed in: eucalyptus (Ubuntu Karmic) Status: Triaged = Incomplete -- 1.6~bzr854-0ubuntu13 fails to run instances https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/439288 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to eucalyptus in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 426497] Re: kqemu mode not compiled for karmic
Can we have two packages. One that works with CPUs that support kvm, and one that works with CPUs that do not support kvm, e.g. with kqemu instead. I think it is sensible to assume that all new CPUs will support kvm, so that handles the physical memory 3.5GB issue. But, for older CPUs, that do not support kvm, we need an VM that actually functions. For example, running the ubuntu version of kvm on a machine that does not support kvm, results in kvm running in normal qemu mode, but this has bugs and fails to run when used with 32bit host, and 32bit guest. One gets no vm86_info: BAD messages The original qemu without the kvm patches, works correctly. I have talked to kvm developers and they will not be fixing bugs in the non-kvm code paths, but qemu developers will be fixing bugs in the non-kvm path. Apparently, there are kvm patches that break the non-kvm code paths. So, can we please have two packages, one from the kvm tree, and one from the qemu tree. -- kqemu mode not compiled for karmic https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/426497 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to qemu-kvm in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

I'm sure that we can get this fixed. Fixing importance to High. It is not appropriate to use the host kernel for this purpose, as: - It is the -server kernel, rather than the -virtual kernel (and this use case is exactly why -virtual was created) - The instance could be 32-bit, while the host is 64-bit (this may in fact work, but is not correct) - The host and image may be based on different versions of Ubuntu - The host and image may have different kernel module ABIs There are probably others, but suffice to say, this needs to be corrected. ** Changed in: vm-builder (Ubuntu Karmic) Importance: Wishlist = High -- kernel and initramfs should be available for uec https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/429106 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to vm-builder in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 392826] Re: dhcp3-server is launched before NetworkManager and thus doesn't find interfaces
Jacob, Thanks for that script. It seems to have solved this problem for me as well. I needed the DHCP server to be usable in a headless server where no one is there to log in and use some of the other workarounds people used. Like others, I wish we did not have to do it this way and still consider this a bug since we should be able to control it as usual for startup ordering. [Bug 439808] [NEW] Laptop running Jaunty 9.04 unable to detect bluetooth devices (or be detected)
Public bug reported: My bluetooth device is recognised by the operating system. I can flip the on/off switch for bluetooth/wireless on my laptop and Jaunty responds accordingly, adding or removing the bluetooth and wireless icons from the panel at the top. Wireless works perfectly but the Bluetooth Device Wizard is unable to detect any other bluetooth devices (I tried with 2 mobile phones) although the devices are broadcasting (and can be detected in Windows). In a terminal, When I type: hcitool scan I get: Scanning ... Inquiry failed: Connection timed out When I choose 'Always Visible' and add a friendly name in Bluetooth Preferences, the computer cannot be found by other bluetooth devices either (I tried this with 2 phones as well). I get this message everytime I hibernate when the laptop's bluetooth/wireless switch is on: [708. 629316] btusb_intr_complete: hci0 urb f61cf400 failed to resubmit (1) [708. 630313] btusb_intr_complete: hci0 urb f61cfc00 failed to resubmit (2) [708. 630321] btusb_intr_complete: hci0 urb f61cfa80 failed to resubmit (1) [711. 190381] NOHZ: local_softirq_pending 100 (The numbers in the square brackets vary and so do the hexadecimal numbers after 'urb'.)
