[Bug 442852] [NEW] Several messages during startup in Karmic Koala
Public bug reported: During startup and shutdown I saw several messages that their content are in the attachment in 3 jpeg images. Also one more thing I wanted to add, is that during the first alphas, Karmic was behaving correctly while I used it, but now in the Beta, I find it behaves just like 8.10 or 9.04 where the desktop is unresponsive in brief periods of 3 - 5 seconds, then returns to normal and continues to halt and so on... So my only option now is continue using 8.04 since I don't have these brief "freezes" while on the desktop loading applications with the LTS version. Sorry I can't be of much help since I'm just starting using this O.S. [Bug 442833] [NEW] faac encodes large files with incorrect length
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: faac Very long audio files ( > 13 hours, 15 minutes, 21 seconds) encoded by faac do not display correct length information during playback. All files longer than said length show the length as 13:15:21, but continue to play to completion (past the indicated end of the track). This behaviour has been verified on both VLC and an Apple iPod. This is problematic because seeking through the track past the 13:15:21 mark is not possible. Verified on numerous audio files, with the following usage: faac -R 44100 -B 16 -C 1 -w -q 80 --track "1" --genre "Spoken Word" -X --year "2009" --artist "author" --album "title" --title "title" -o "temp.m4b" "temp.pcm" where temp.pcm was created by: mplayer -vc null -vo null -ao pcm:nowaveheader:fast:file=temp.pcm temp.mp3 temp.pcm and temp.mp3 were both verified to have the correct length. [Bug 119730] Re: Slow SATA performance
Some good news. In part, at least. ASUS M2N-VN-DH mobo, Ubuntu Jaunty (9.04) AMD64. This syste, had been unusable. If I enabled AHCI the system would lock up on the grub loading message. This meant I had to tune down to IDE mode. SATA transfers were awful and general file transfers to USB where even worse. I'm pleased to report that after the latest kernel updates - 2.6.28-15-generic #52-Ubuntu SMP Wed Sep 9 10:48:52 UTC 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux" the system now boots with AHCI enabled and xfer speeds are right up there where we'd expect them to be. Importantly high xfer rates are maintained on extended large file transfers. All in all, it's a relief. Unfortunately the problem persists on another system with an ASUS M3A mobo when running Ubuntu Jaunty (9.04) AMD64m kernel 2.6.28-15. Re: [Bug 442717] Re: Update notifier needs a monochromatic icon
The icon already exists. It's the same icon that is used while update manager is "working". Why not just invert the icons so that greyscale is the default one, and orange while it's working? Re: [Bug 438536] Re: Notifications should show up closer to top right
As far as I know, the complete story is: The desktop experience team decided to try the bubbles in the middle right of the screen, to avoid the problems with some apps' toolbars being overridden. So, at the same time they reviewed the bubble placement to get rid of the notifications stacking problems. When it was decided to put the top right corner by default, the new placement stayed... and i'm personally for removing it too. :) -- Notifications should show up closer to top right https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/438536 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 442828] [NEW] installation does not work for left-handed users
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ubiquity I just installed Ubuntu 9.10 beta via a i386 Desktop CD. I ran ubiquity only (sans desktop). The GTK+ buttons used in ubiquity only accept clicks from the left mouse button and not the right. This prohibits left-handed users from being able to use the installer in a left-handed fashion. I propose that ubiquity's behavior be altered to match that of gdm's so that a user can use either the right or the left mouse button to click the buttons in ubiquity. Additionally, any right-click context menus that currently exist in ubiquity would need to be removed. (I know that at the very least the custom partitioning setup screen makes use of these). These changes would allow either right-handed or left-handed users to perform an installation without needing to prompt a user to find out how he or she is using the mouse. ** Affects: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- installation does not work for left-handed users https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/442828 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
