[Bug 497607] Re: Kernel Panic (?) when watching streaming video
I may have narrowed it down a little more. Though I still don't have anything logged, I had the same panic again today (non-responsive, caps- lock blinks, needs hard reset), BUT for the first time it was NOT when using a sound/streaming video ap. This time it happened when using Google Earth. This suggests to me that this is likely something to do with my ATI integrated card and the open source driver. -- Kernel Panic (?) when watching streaming video https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/497607 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 197255] Re: Prevent shutdown/logout when package manager / update manager is working
The above suggestion seems very relevant to me. I have multiple pc's with ubuntu installed for computer illiterate relatives. Lately the computer of my mother in law got an incidental shutdown during update. I could not log in remotely to fix things, it turned out that the update got interrupted while it was busy with the ssh server. I would very much like an option that would prevent shutdown/restart/logout while an update is being performed. A message informing the user about this and the suggestion to try shutdown again in a few minutes would be great. -- Prevent shutdown/logout when package manager / update manager is working https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/197255 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 447716] Re: Icon Spacing
This issue is occurring on my regular Karmic install as well(not the netbook edition). My issue seems to be that back in the day I was editing the menu and deleted the stupid submenus and ever since I have had to manually add most every game I install to the game menu because a shortcut is not automatically created for most games. Mupen64 created its own shortcut link regardless of this issue so apparently it is not affected if that may help. ...re-adding the submenus does not appear to fix anything btw. [Bug 405120] Re: resume from suspend doesn't work (powers off instead) for Acer Timeline 3810t/3410t
I have a Travelmate 8471, BIOS 1.27 and have the same issue. But this isn't going to be a Me too post: I donated my last night to hack around a bit with the DSDT. I didn't really read through it but rather just fixed the errors the Intel ASL compiler found and hoped it would help. Even though most of the errors concerned the AHCI controller (the DSDT used ^^PCI0.AHCI.PRT5 which wasn't found. I replaced it with \_SB.PCI0.AHCI.PRT5 to get rid of the errors) it didn't help a single bit - the HDD doesn't come back to live on resume. This I yet want to try: - Get the SSDTs, as the AHCI controller seems to be covered in such a table - Maybe get a diff of the holy BIOS upgrade for the Aspire 4710 an look if there are similar structures in my BIOS Furthermore, I doubt that Louis-Dominique Dubeau really managed to try acpi_osi=Windows 2006, as the space isn't recognized and the kernel only sees acpi_osi=Windows. To use Windows 2006, one has to edit the kernel sources, as far as I can see. Anyway, there are only a few places in the DSDT where this setting actually has an effect. In one line, Windows 2001 is treated specially. On three occasions, Windows 2006 is treated separately, on one last occasion any Windows (Windows 2001, Windows 2001 SP1, Windows 2001 SP2, Windows 2006) gets an extra. And as the hole thing is connected to the harddrive as it seems, I tried turning AHCI off and IDE on in the BIOS, but as anticipated, that didn't change anything (would have been far too easy). By the way, did anybody try to suspend from the Live CD, i.e. without using the harddisk and the SATA controller? -- resume from suspend doesn't work (powers off instead) for Acer Timeline 3810t/3410t https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/405120 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 480019] Re: Unable to print a particular PDF on Samsung ML-2010
Got some kind of trouble then try to print png image (Samsung ML-1640 printer). Victor's log: E [10/Nov/2009:23:41:07 -0600] [Job 136] SpliX Cannot open job E [10/Nov/2009:23:41:07 -0600] [Job 136] SpliX Error while rendering the request. Check the previous message lead me to think - my problem is from same source: E [26/Dec/2009:12:34:17 +0200] [Job 20] SpliX Cannot open job E [26/Dec/2009:12:34:17 +0200] [Job 20] SpliX Error while rendering the request. Check the previous message E [26/Dec/2009:12:34:17 +0200] [Job 20] Job stopped due to filter errors; please consult the error_log file for details. I looked in /tmp and find some files with gs_* names and lp user owner (and lp group), having -rw--- (600) file permissions. This files seems was created by CUPS subsystem (filter). Changing file permission on non-zero sized gs_* file and opening it in pdf viewer allowed me to get image printed, but this is crutch :) -- Unable to print a particular PDF on Samsung ML-2010 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/480019 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
