@Peter please, see spamassassin-3.2.5/debian/patches/95_fix_FH_DATE_PAST_20XX.dpatch. The file you're reading is the one coming from upstream. [Bug 502071] Re: FH_DATE_PAST_20XX scores on all mails dated 2010 or later
Sorry about the false alarm. Thanks, Steve and Alex. I spotted the patch file a little while ago and have been checking the package build. The build does the correct thing and I see the correct file in built package. I had updated the rules using sa-update earlier and the correct rule was installed. Anyway, after building the package I noticed the different naming with ubuntu0.1 tacked on. It turns out that for some reason my remote machine (linode) didn't have karmic-updates for main and restricted in /etc/apt/sources.list. Odd. Of course, the package was installed correctly after fixing that. -- FH_DATE_PAST_20XX scores on all mails dated 2010 or later https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/502071 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to spamassassin in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 561281] [NEW] case sensitivity option (case sensitive=no) is not honored
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: samba In my setup using samba's “case sensitive = no” option it is not possible for Windows machines to create files with the same filename but different cases. [Bug 561281] Re: case sensitivity option (case sensitive=no) is not honored
I think what you're looking for is the preserve case option (default to yes, which means new files are created with original case preserved). case sensitive is just use to match existing files (default to auto). See man smb.conf for details. Marking as invalid (not a bug), please reopen with more detail if you disagree. ** Changed in: samba (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- case sensitivity option (case sensitive=no) is not honored https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/561281 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 561281] Re: case sensitivity option (case sensitive=no) is not honored
I disagree. The problem is that when, for example, two files “test.test” and “test.TEST” are being addressed they should be treated as the exact same file, as case sensitivity should be off and SAMBA should not care about letter cases. They do when being addressed by a Windows (7) machine, in my setup, but they do not when they are being created by a LINUX client (mount options see above). When they are created by that LINUX machine, SAMBA allows “test.test” and “TEST.test” to be two different, independent files when it should not. I do not think that the client is the issue because when being connected to a Windows share the behaviour is as desired. ** Changed in: samba (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid = New -- case sensitivity option (case sensitive=no) is not honored https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/561281 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 561475] [NEW] when sysctl net.ipv6.bindv6only=1, xinetd can not bind to both IPv4 and IPv6 on same port
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xinetd I am using Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic, and have altered sysctl net.ipv6.bindv6only so it is set to 1 - this is so that listening to an IPv6 port does not automatically listen to the corresponding IPv4 (required for another application on this machine, unrelated to xinetd). However, this causes problems with xinetd - it refuses to bind to both 0.0.0.0:PPP and :::PPP, where PPP is the same port number for both. And thus only binds to the first one that it attempts. The error in the log is bind failed (Address already in use (errno = 98)). service = XXX The configuration looks like this: /etc/xinetd.d/XXX: service XXX { flags = IPv4 socket_type = stream wait = no user = UUU server = /home/XXX/YYY.py port = PPP } /etc/xinetd.d/XXX6: service XXX { flags = IPv6 socket_type = stream wait = no user = UUU server = /home/XXX/YYY.py port = PPP } I also tried combining the IPv4 and IPv6 flags: /etc/xinetd.d/XXX: service XXX { flags = IPv4 IPv6 socket_type = stream wait = no user = UUU server = /home/XXX/YYY.py port = PPP } But this results in the error Service XXX specified as both IPv4 and IPv6 - DISABLING and no binding to any interface. You have been subscribed to a public bug: Binary package hint: likewise-open Situation is the following: - Ubuntu Lucid 10.04 beta 2 full updated - Likewise Open 5.4.0.42111-2 - Domain with Windows 2003 Server Active directory - I join perfectly with DomainUser and Password - Mkdir mountpoint in the Home folder - I want to mount a samba share in a win2003 server File Server: mount -t cifs -o rw,username=DomainUser,password=Password,iocharset=utf8 //Fileserver/mountpoint /home/likewise-open/MYDOMAIN/MYUSER/Mountpoint And it works. But then if i try to change/modify/delete something , i notice all the file inside Mount Point are READ ONLY. ls -l return this: drwxr-xr-x 1 root root0 2010-03-31 12:24 Mountpoint Of course //Fileserver/mountpoint is completely writable by the domain user i am using. In Intrepid Installation (likewise version 4) it works perfectly but ls -l gives little difference: drwxrwxrwx 1 root root0 2010-03-31 12:24 Mountpoint So with Likewise Open 5.4.0.42111-2 i can mount just in Read Only. [Bug 561281] Re: case sensitivity option (case sensitive=no) is not honored
SMB shares work with a negotiation between the capabilities of the server and the capabilities of the client. By default, it tries to enable as many features as possible. By default (case sensitive=auto, preserve case=yes), when using Linux clients to connect to Linux servers, you'll get full case support. If you want to emulate the limited capabilities of a Windows server, you should at least set the following: case sensitive=no preserve case=no That should give you the intended (mis)behavior. How a file is represented on the filesystem differs from how a file is resolved on the filesystem. Recent windows all have case-sensitive file names, but it resolves case-insensitively. preserve case is about how Samba creates files in shares (representation) while case insensitive is about how Samba resolves them. case sensitive=no doesn't make all Samba magically case insensitive, as you seem to think it should do. There are a few other options that affect cases sensitivity, as you'll see by reading up man smb.conf (or http://oreilly.com/catalog/samba/chapter/book/ch05_04.html) Does setting preserve case=no solve your issues ? ** Changed in: samba (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Low ** Changed in: samba (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- case sensitivity option (case sensitive=no) is not honored https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/561281 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 542005] Re: faulty symlinks on mounted samba volumes
I don't get it what example you're exactly expecting but here is the full story: I have 4 software raid arrays of 2 hard drives. (So md0 is the system's, md1 and md2 are storages, and md3 is for a kvm guest.) Symlinks already existed and newly created work properly on md1, only inside the partition despite who owns them. Symlinks pointed to somewhere on md0 or md2 just don't, not matter where they are or which user owns them. Linux clients don't see the owner (not even numbers) and the attributes so ls -l shows only ? marks for every details. Windows clients just say access denied. In case it matters the filesystems on the system is ext3, on the storages are ext4. As far as I know that md1 ain't different in any way. Only Samba's having trouble with symlinks... [Bug 532733] Re: apt/dpkg in qemu-system-arm hangs if a big task is installed
dustin, the actual issue shows up under rootstock where we dont use SDL at all, using plain qemu is just to easier reproduce the error, rootstock reads/writes through a fifo via emulated serial console so there is neither SDL nor any ui stuff involved. it shows up for everyone and the hang apprars to be at the same package for nearly everyone no matter if you use rootstock with its pipe or the plain SDL based VM, the curious thing as i mentioned above is that it vanishes completely as soon as you install apt and dpkg -dbgsym packages. -- apt/dpkg in qemu-system-arm hangs if a big task is installed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/532733 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to qemu-kvm in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Hi Jesper, I can understand your frustration and no doubt you'll be pleased to know Lucid (10.04) should be shipping 5.0.4, which should mean that this is resolved. I'm marking this as incomplete, until someone can confirm that they have successfully reproduced this bug on Lucid, running autofs5. [Bug 511245] Re: portmap is not started during boot process before autofs and hence autofs does not work properly
Gets worse if you add SAN volumes that are NFS exported. There's a corner case here that's not working at all: 1 - QLogic SAN - Fails to come up until I reload qla driver with modprobe -r/modprobe 2 - NFS export, since #1 didn't come up, export also fails. 3 - Since #2 didn't come up, autofs also fails. -- portmap is not started during boot process before autofs and hence autofs does not work properly https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/511245 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to autofs in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Just thought I'd point out that wikipedia has a section on this practice by ISPs. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DNS_hijacking#Use_by_ISPs Also, my preferred workaround, either for individual machines by themselves, or for entire networks, is to use a real public DNS service. [Bug 369575] Re: Why is /usr/share/pam-configs/krb5 specifying minimum_uid= ?
But I suppose that's what NEWS.Debian is for. You could also stick in a debconf notice, like what x11-common had for a while (Major possible upgrade issues). Right -- if you're already distributing a krb5.conf with this setting, surely the same mechanism could be used to override the PAM configuration as well. At the moment, my PAM-profile override *is* put into place by the same script that adds the minimum_uid bit to krb5.conf. But that's just a workaround. I don't need a workaround; I need a fix for this, so that I can toss the workaround :-) (Incidentally, Russ, Steve... what would you think of asking minimum_uid as a debconf question, when initially creating krb5.conf? [Bug 119194] Re: [hardy] ps2 mouse erratic - parity errors - lost synchronization errors
Hi Damjan, I figured out this mouse did not work with some other boards too. In some boards no cursor at all, in others like described above, it went crazy. I found that this was no software issue, it did not matter what OS you used, it only mattered what motherboards you used. When I had thousands of one particular type of Intel G31 chipset boards in my stock for which this mouse did not work, I had to find exactly what was it. It was the controller IC that is NOT COMPATIBLE (what's the reason?) with some boards, both cheap and expensive. The problem controller IC was: MX84511FP. I replaced this IC with MX84521FP (without touching anything else), the mouse works like the best mouse in the world in all boards that I can test. [Bug 561210] [NEW] Writing big files to NFS target causes system lock up
Public bug reported: I'm experiencing complete system lock ups occasionally when writing big files to an NFS target. I can't remember that I had such issues with Jaunty, but at least Karmic and Lucid are affected in the exact same way. In most cases just the mv or cp process hangs for a while, but sometimes the whole system freezes, including X. Although some things keep running (e.g. the clock on my G15 Keyboard LCD display doesn't freeze, so the g15daemon keeps running as usual), I'm unable to get the system back to a normal state. Even waiting a whole night for the NFS task to finish doesn't succeed. In such a case the NFS server side is completely idle, not receiving any data from the client. I have to hard reset the client machine to get a working system again. The server is a Busybox NAS system with the following exports options: rw,no_wdelay,no_root_squash,insecure_locks,no_subtree_check The clients are mounting with these options: rw,rsize=32768,wsize=32768,hard,intr,noatime All machines are connected through a LevelOne GSW-0803T 8-port GBit switch with Cat6e cables. No wireless here. No other issues with networking here. The client machines are both AMD64 AMD Quad-Cores, both have GigaByte mainboards using the internal GBit Ethernet connector for networking. Some time ago I also used a Dell Inspiron (32-bit Pentium-M system) notebook with a 100MBit connection on this network without such issues. The following gets logged during one of those lock-ups: INFO: task mv:26028 blocked for more than 120 seconds. echo 0 /proc/sys/kernel/hung_task_timeout_secs disables this message. mvD 0 26028 2040 0x 880100198f08 0086 00015b80 00015b80 880001dc83c0 880100199fd8 00015b80 880001dc8000 00015b80 880100199fd8 00015b80 880001dc83c0 Call Trace: [a0418280] ? nfs_wait_bit_uninterruptible+0x0/0x20 [nfs] [8153e697] io_schedule+0x47/0x70 [a041828e] nfs_wait_bit_uninterruptible+0xe/0x20 [nfs] [8153eeef] __wait_on_bit+0x5f/0x90 [81013cae] ? apic_timer_interrupt+0xe/0x20 [a0418280] ? nfs_wait_bit_uninterruptible+0x0/0x20 [nfs] [8153ef98] out_of_line_wait_on_bit+0x78/0x90 [81085340] ? wake_bit_function+0x0/0x40 [a041826f] nfs_wait_on_request+0x2f/0x40 [nfs] [a041c66f] nfs_wait_on_requests_locked+0x7f/0xd0 [nfs] [a041daae] nfs_sync_mapping_wait+0x9e/0x1a0 [nfs] [a041dc31] nfs_wb_page+0x81/0xe0 [nfs] [a040cb17] nfs_release_page+0x57/0x70 [nfs] [810f2a52] try_to_release_page+0x32/0x50 [811016a3] shrink_page_list+0x453/0x5f0 [81101b4d] shrink_inactive_list+0x30d/0x7e0 [810fbcda] ? determine_dirtyable_memory+0x1a/0x30 [810fbd87] ? get_dirty_limits+0x27/0x2f0 [811020b1] shrink_list+0x91/0xf0 [811022a7] shrink_zone+0x197/0x240 [811023c2] shrink_zones+0x72/0x100 [811024ce] do_try_to_free_pages+0x7e/0x330 [8110287f] try_to_free_pages+0x6f/0x80 [811003c0] ? isolate_pages_global+0x0/0x50 [810f992a] __alloc_pages_slowpath+0x27a/0x580 [810f9d8e] __alloc_pages_nodemask+0x15e/0x1a0 [8112cc07] alloc_pages_current+0x87/0xd0 [81132728] new_slab+0x248/0x310 [81134fb9] __slab_alloc+0x169/0x2d0 [810f5ab5] ? mempool_alloc_slab+0x15/0x20 [811354e4] kmem_cache_alloc+0xe4/0x150 [810f5ab5] mempool_alloc_slab+0x15/0x20 [810f5c53] mempool_alloc+0x63/0x140 [81085300] ? autoremove_wake_function+0x0/0x40 [a041ce70] nfs_writedata_alloc+0x20/0xc0 [nfs] [a041cf32] nfs_flush_one+0x22/0xf0 [nfs] [a0418097] nfs_pageio_doio+0x37/0x80 [nfs] [a0418134] nfs_pageio_add_request+0x54/0x100 [nfs] [a041c47d] nfs_page_async_flush+0x9d/0xf0 [nfs] [a041c557] nfs_do_writepage+0x87/0x90 [nfs] [a041cc9e] nfs_writepages_callback+0x1e/0x40 [nfs] [810fcac7] write_cache_pages+0x227/0x4d0 [a041cc80] ? nfs_writepages_callback+0x0/0x40 [nfs] [a041cc09] nfs_writepages+0xb9/0x130 [nfs] [a041cf10] ? nfs_flush_one+0x0/0xf0 [nfs] [810fcdc1] do_writepages+0x21/0x40 [810f40ab] __filemap_fdatawrite_range+0x5b/0x60 [810f43df] filemap_fdatawrite+0x1f/0x30 [810f4425] filemap_write_and_wait+0x35/0x50 [a041055b] nfs_setattr+0x15b/0x180 [nfs] [810f4c26] ? generic_file_aio_read+0xb6/0x1d0 [81013b0e] ? common_interrupt+0xe/0x13 [810f36de] ? find_get_page+0x1e/0xa0 [810f50c9] ? filemap_fault+0xb9/0x460 [8106c4a7] ? current_fs_time+0x27/0x30 [8115b7db] notify_change+0x16b/0x350 [8116a16c] utimes_common+0xdc/0x1b0 [812b6eba] ? __up_read+0x9a/0xc0 [8116a2e1] do_utimes+0xa1/0xf0 [81543378] ? do_page_fault+0x158/0x3b0 [8116a442]
