[Bug 502071] Re: FH_DATE_PAST_20XX scores on all mails dated 2010 or later

2010-04-12 Thread Peter Schwenke
Is this really fixed in Karmic? Looking at the source package at
spamassassin-3.2.5/rules/72_active.cf I see

##{ FH_DATE_PAST_20XX
header   FH_DATE_PAST_20XX  Date =~ /20[1-9][0-9]/ [if-unset: 2006]
describe FH_DATE_PAST_20XX The date is grossly in the future.
##} FH_DATE_PAST_20XX

2010-04-12 Thread Alex Muntada
@Peter please, see
spamassassin-3.2.5/debian/patches/95_fix_FH_DATE_PAST_20XX.dpatch. The
file you're reading is the one coming from upstream.

OTOH, remember that you can update SA rules with sa-update command.

The file from spamassassin 3.2.5-4ubuntu0.1 has the regexp changed to

2006]

[Bug 559230] Re: multi-machine topology, cannot reach an instance from the CLC

2010-04-12 Thread Thierry Carrez
I'm setting up a 5-machine topology right now to confirm it's a testrig
automation artifact, in which case I'll lower the priority.

You mentioned running with several different users. Could it be that the
euca-authorize call was not issued for all users (but just for the
first one) resulting in TCP port 22 connection failures for most of them
?

[Bug 502071] Re: FH_DATE_PAST_20XX scores on all mails dated 2010 or later

2010-04-12 Thread Peter Schwenke
Sorry about the false alarm.

Thanks, Steve and Alex. I spotted the patch file a little while ago and
have been checking the package build. The build does the correct thing
and I see the correct file in built package. I had updated the rules
using sa-update earlier and the correct rule was installed.

Anyway, after building the package I noticed the different naming with
ubuntu0.1 tacked on. It turns out that for some reason my remote
machine (linode) didn't have karmic-updates for main and restricted in
/etc/apt/sources.list. Odd. Of course, the package was installed
correctly after fixing that.

[Bug 561281] [NEW] case sensitivity option (case sensitive=no) is not honored

2010-04-12 Thread Sven Ehret
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: samba

In my setup using samba's “case sensitive = no” option it is not
possible for Windows machines to create files with the same filename but
different cases. Example: “file.test” can not reside next to
“FILE.test”.

However, when a LINUX client (Gentoo) connects to the SAMBA share, it is
allowed to create such files, ignoring SAMBA's case sensitivity option.
When the same LINUX client connects to a Windows share the behaviour is
correct.

Probably a duplicate from bug 432964 ?

Please remove the following files if present:
/etc/passwd.lock
/etc/passwd+
/etc/shadow.lock

and try again.

Dustin: how do you suggest the postinst be made more robust ? We need to
add that user/group and ntp installation will not be complete without
it. If a lock prevents access to /etc/passwd, I see little way around
it...

[Bug 497149] Re: Packages using DKMS should make use of /usr/lib/dkms/common.postinst

2010-04-12 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package openafs - 1.4.12+dfsg-3

---
openafs (1.4.12+dfsg-3) unstable; urgency=low

  * Apply upstream deltas:
- [135e196b] Create missing root directory when ORPH_ATTACH
- [190ef2cb] volmonitor keep vtrans lock
- [812dcc2c] Increase the maximum number of sysnames
- [a123d4ab] Print rxdebug statistics as unsigned values
  * If the user configures openafs-client to use AFSDB records for VLDB
server location, don't prompt the user for VLDB servers for the local
cell even if they're not present in CellServDB and don't try to add an
entry for the local cell to CellServDB. (Closes: #575299)

openafs (1.4.12+dfsg-2) unstable; urgency=low

  * Apply upstream deltas:
- [4ca7b6fc] Remove lih_r
- [f3899ac3] Allow GetSomeSpace_r to select an optimal host
- [94a43966] h_TossStuff_r: check held-ness after lock
- [b78eeb0c] h_TossStuff_r: make sure host does not go away
- [0583af32] volmonitor copy link before calling free
- [eb799d07] Move non-executable stack assembly code to end of file
  * Build with -fno-strict-aliasing. The upstream development branch has
a better fix that selectively enables this for specific files with
known problems, but be conservative for the stable release.

openafs (1.4.12+dfsg-1) unstable; urgency=low

  * New upstream release.
- Enable weak encryption types in aklog and klog.krb5.
- Build support for Linux 2.6.33.
- Improvements to host tracking safety in the file server.
- Fall back to current kernel credentials if we can't use stored ones.
- Fix truncation handling in some large file situations.
- Further fixes to mmap handling.
- Avoid double-free in some FetchData64 error situations.
- Stop warning about system call hooks when keyrings are in use.
- Flush vcaches when a mount fails to avoid inconsistent data.
- New dump tag and length standard for vos dump.
- Fix stack executability for programs containing assembly code.
- Various salvager robustness fixes.
  * Use dh_dkms from the DKMS package to handle creation of the maintainer
scripts for openafs-modules-dkms rather than rolling our own.
(LP: #497149)
  * Update init script to require $remote_fs be started first and stopped
after OpenAFS. This won't be the case in the long run, but for now
some important boot-time options need /usr/bin/fs to set them.
  * List $syslog in Should-Start for the openafs-client init script, since
otherwise if loading the module causes a kernel panic, it won't be
logged to disk.
  * Update CellServDB to the 2010-02-28 version.
  * Add README.source explaining maintenance procedures and a
debian/import-upstream script to do a Git-aware merge of a new
upstream release that will allow us to cherry-pick upstream patches
and do proper merges.
  * Stop linking the openafs-fileserver doc directory to openafs-client so
that we can provide a separate NEWS.Debian.
  * Update standards version to 3.8.4 (no changes required).

[Bug 561281] Re: case sensitivity option (case sensitive=no) is not honored

2010-04-12 Thread Thierry Carrez
I think what you're looking for is the preserve case option (default
to yes, which means new files are created with original case preserved).
case sensitive is just use to match existing files (default to auto).

See man smb.conf for details. Marking as invalid (not a bug), please
reopen with more detail if you disagree.

[Bug 561281] Re: case sensitivity option (case sensitive=no) is not honored

2010-04-12 Thread Sven Ehret
I disagree.

The problem is that when, for example, two files “test.test” and
“test.TEST” are being addressed they should be treated as the exact same
file, as case sensitivity should be off and SAMBA should not care about
letter cases. They do when being addressed by a Windows (7) machine, in
my setup, but they do not when they are being created by a LINUX client
(mount options see above). When they are created by that LINUX machine,
SAMBA allows “test.test” and “TEST.test” to be two different,
independent files when it should not.

I do not think that the client is the issue because when being connected
to a Windows share the behaviour is as desired.

[Bug 560011] Re: Time cannot be fixed with ntpdate

2010-04-12 Thread Chuck Short
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. Unfortunately, we can't fix it because your description didn't include
enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs
effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be
grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.
We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.
At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport, either via the
appropriate application's Help - Report a Problem menu or using
'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more
about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

[Bug 561475] [NEW] when sysctl net.ipv6.bindv6only=1, xinetd can not bind to both IPv4 and IPv6 on same port

2010-04-12 Thread Yanis Refrokorg
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xinetd

I am using Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic, and have altered sysctl
net.ipv6.bindv6only so it is set to 1 - this is so that listening to an
IPv6 port does not automatically listen to the corresponding IPv4
(required for another application on this machine, unrelated to xinetd).

However, this causes problems with xinetd - it refuses to bind to both
0.0.0.0:PPP and :::PPP, where PPP is the same port number for both. And
thus only binds to the first one that it attempts. The error in the log
is bind failed (Address already in use (errno = 98)). service = XXX

The configuration looks like this:

/etc/xinetd.d/XXX:

  service XXX
  {
flags = IPv4
socket_type = stream
wait = no
user = UUU
server = /home/XXX/YYY.py
port = PPP
  }

/etc/xinetd.d/XXX6:

  service XXX
  {
flags = IPv6
socket_type = stream
wait = no
user = UUU
server = /home/XXX/YYY.py
port = PPP
  }

I also tried combining the IPv4 and IPv6 flags:

/etc/xinetd.d/XXX:

  service XXX
  {
flags = IPv4 IPv6
socket_type = stream
wait = no
user = UUU
server = /home/XXX/YYY.py
port = PPP
  }

But this results in the error Service XXX specified as both IPv4 and
IPv6 - DISABLING and no binding to any interface.

I also tried adding the lines bind = 0.0.0.0 and bind = ::
respectively to the configuration files but that had no effect.

[Bug 561485] [NEW] Mounting CIFS folder i can only have READ ONLY access

2010-04-12 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Binary package hint: likewise-open

Situation is the following:
- Ubuntu Lucid 10.04 beta 2 full updated
- Likewise Open 5.4.0.42111-2
- Domain with Windows 2003 Server Active directory
- I join perfectly with DomainUser and Password
- Mkdir mountpoint in the Home folder
- I want to mount a samba share in a win2003 server File Server:

mount -t cifs -o rw,username=DomainUser,password=Password,iocharset=utf8
//Fileserver/mountpoint /home/likewise-open/MYDOMAIN/MYUSER/Mountpoint

And it works.
But then if i try to change/modify/delete something , i notice all the file
inside Mount Point are READ ONLY.

ls -l   return this:

drwxr-xr-x 1 root  root0 2010-03-31 12:24 Mountpoint

Of course //Fileserver/mountpoint is completely writable by the domain user i
am using.
In Intrepid Installation (likewise version 4) it works perfectly
but ls -l gives little difference:
drwxrwxrwx 1 root  root0 2010-03-31 12:24 Mountpoint

So with Likewise Open 5.4.0.42111-2 i can mount just in Read Only.
I suppose it is a bug.

Regards

[Bug 551691] Re: Node installer can't see Walrus in multi-network install

2010-04-12 Thread Thierry Carrez
In fact the current message is just:

A Eucalyptus cloud controller was found, but no Walrus storage service.
Cloud installation mode:

Given how eucalyptus-udeb.postinst works, it only imports the short
description (first line) so there is no room for a longer explanation.
Changing this now would break UIFreeze for all install screens of UEC,
which does not seem warranted for such a wishlist fix.

[Bug 561281] Re: case sensitivity option (case sensitive=no) is not honored

2010-04-12 Thread Thierry Carrez
SMB shares work with a negotiation between the capabilities of the server and
the capabilities of the client.
By default, it tries to enable as many features as possible. By default (case
sensitive=auto, preserve case=yes), when using Linux clients to connect to
Linux servers, you'll get full case support. If you want to emulate the limited
capabilities of a Windows server, you should at least set the following:

case sensitive=no
preserve case=no

That should give you the intended (mis)behavior.

How a file is represented on the filesystem differs from how a file is
resolved on the filesystem. Recent windows all have case-sensitive file
names, but it resolves case-insensitively. preserve case is about how
Samba creates files in shares (representation) while case insensitive
is about how Samba resolves them. case sensitive=no doesn't make all
Samba magically case insensitive, as you seem to think it should do.
There are a few other options that affect cases sensitivity, as you'll
see by reading up man smb.conf (or
http://oreilly.com/catalog/samba/chapter/book/ch05_04.html)

Does setting preserve case=no solve your issues ?

[Bug 542005] Re: faulty symlinks on mounted samba volumes

2010-04-12 Thread Lightning
I don't get it what example you're exactly expecting but here is the full story:
I have 4 software raid arrays of 2 hard drives. (So md0 is the system's, md1
and md2 are storages, and md3 is for a kvm guest.)
Symlinks already existed and newly created work properly on md1, only inside
the partition despite who owns them.
Symlinks pointed to somewhere on md0 or md2 just don't, not matter where they
are or which user owns them.
Linux clients don't see the owner (not even numbers) and the attributes so
ls -l shows only ? marks for every details.
Windows clients just say access denied.

In case it matters the filesystems on the system is ext3, on the storages are
ext4.
As far as I know that md1 ain't different in any way. Only Samba's having
trouble with symlinks...
For now I've turned off unix extensions, I don't really need it.

[Bug 554094] Re: Windows clients cannot connect unless Samba manually restarted

2010-04-12 Thread Charles Burns
The network is defined in /etc/network/interfaces as follows:

# The loopback network interface
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

# The primary network interface
auto eth0
iface eth0 inet dhcp

The motherboard has two NICs, but only one is in use. both are Intel GBit. The
IP is assigned by a separate router configured to always give the server the
same IP address (10.0.0.2).

[Bug 532733] Re: apt/dpkg in qemu-system-arm hangs if a big task is installed

2010-04-12 Thread Oliver Grawert
dustin, the actual issue shows up under rootstock where we dont use SDL
at all, using plain qemu is just to easier reproduce the error,
rootstock reads/writes through a fifo via emulated serial console so
there is neither SDL nor any ui stuff involved.

it shows up for everyone and the hang apprars to be at the same package
for nearly everyone no matter if you use rootstock with its pipe or the
plain SDL based VM, the curious thing as i mentioned above is that it
vanishes completely as soon as you install apt and dpkg -dbgsym
packages.

name=libvirt-a4294a0d-a75a-a377-ddcd-7e35d5720815 namespace=root

The mentioned profile doesn't get loaded
(libvirt-a4294a0d-a75a-a377-ddcd-7e35d5720815) although it exists:

$ ls -1 /etc/apparmor.d/libvirt/libvirt-a4294a0d-a75a-a377-ddcd-7e35d5720815*
/etc/apparmor.d/libvirt/libvirt-a4294a0d-a75a-a377-ddcd-7e35d5720815
/etc/apparmor.d/libvirt/libvirt-a4294a0d-a75a-a377-ddcd-7e35d5720815.files

...and has appropriate lines in it:

$ grep '/srv/virtual/'
/etc/apparmor.d/libvirt/libvirt-a4294a0d-a75a-a377-ddcd-7e35d5720815.files
  /srv/virtual/aria-win2k3.img rw,
  /srv/virtual/win2003-x64.iso r,
  deny /srv/virtual/win2003-x64.iso w,

So I just added appropriate lines into
/etc/apparmor.d/usr.lib.libvirt.virt-aa-helper for my custom storage pool
(should I open a bug for that?):

$ grep '/srv/virtual' /etc/apparmor.d/usr.lib.libvirt.virt-aa-helper
  /srv/virtual/ r,
  /srv/virtual/** r,

...reloaded the apparmor service and now it works. Now I'm waiting for a
resolution to Bug #513273 to finally get an SDL VM running out of the
virt-manager.

Thanx a lot so far! Fix confirmed! :-)

2010-04-12 Thread Thag
Gets worse if you add SAN volumes that are NFS exported.
There's a corner case here that's not working at all:

1 - QLogic SAN - Fails to come up until I reload qla driver with modprobe
-r/modprobe
2 - NFS export, since #1 didn't come up, export also fails.
3 - Since #2 didn't come up, autofs also fails.

[Bug 389909] Re: Change resolve order so Nautilus can browse local network when ISP uses DNS redirection

2010-04-12 Thread Michael DePaulo
Just thought I'd point out that wikipedia has a section on this practice by
ISPs.

Also, my preferred workaround, either for individual machines by themselves, or
for entire networks, is to use a real public DNS service. The only one I know
of is Google Public DNS.

[Bug 369575] Re: Why is /usr/share/pam-configs/krb5 specifying minimum_uid= ?

2010-04-12 Thread Daniel Richard G.
 But I suppose that's what NEWS.Debian is for.

You could also stick in a debconf notice, like what x11-common had for a
while (Major possible upgrade issues).

 Right -- if you're already distributing a krb5.conf with this setting,
surely the same mechanism could be used to override the PAM
configuration as well.

At the moment, my PAM-profile override *is* put into place by the same
script that adds the minimum_uid bit to krb5.conf. But that's just a
workaround. I don't need a workaround; I need a fix for this, so that I
can toss the workaround :-)

(Incidentally, Russ, Steve... what would you think of asking minimum_uid
as a debconf question, when initially creating krb5.conf? Other sites
may want to frob this setting as well.)

Hi Dave

Thank you for finally attending to the bug.

Well since the problem now persists in all official releases of Ubuntu
as of now, allthough fixed in the current development branch, dont you
think it is a bit premature to close the bug. Even as invalid since
fixed is what you actually are doing.

As far as I know autofs is a part of main in all distributions done.

[Bug 269851] Re: Bluetooth Logitech Dinovo Edge Keyboard/Mouse dones not work anymore

2010-04-12 Thread mvisa
I have this working now thanks to previously mentioned launchpad answer:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/105987

Did this:

1) System - Preferences - Bluetooth
2) Setup New Device
3) Forward, choose dinovo
4) Choose  From PIN options
5) Press connect on the back of the dinovo
6) Type on the dinovo and press Enter

Steps 5) and 6) are missing from the answers link, figured those out
from logitech forums..

That's it.

Although, after one reboot the pairing was lost, which is a bit annoying
as you need another keybard to pair it again. Hope this was just due to
Lucid being beta ...

[Bug 559976] Re: Could not initialize the application's security component.

2010-04-12 Thread Lars J. Nielsen
After todays update of libnss3-d1 to version 3.12.6-ubuntu0.9.10.2 it
works for me without the workaround.

[Bug 119194] Re: [hardy] ps2 mouse erratic - parity errors - lost synchronization errors

2010-04-12 Thread Bal
Hi Damjan,

I figured out this mouse did not work with some other boards too. In
some boards no cursor at all, in others like described above, it went
crazy. I found that this was no software issue, it did not matter what
OS you used, it only mattered what motherboards you used.

When I had thousands of one particular type of Intel G31 chipset boards
in my stock for which this mouse did not work, I had to find exactly
what was it. It was the controller IC that is NOT COMPATIBLE (what's the
reason?) with some boards, both cheap and expensive.

The problem controller IC was: MX84511FP. I replaced this IC with
MX84521FP (without touching anything else), the mouse works like the
best mouse in the world in all boards that I can test.

Thanks

Bal

[Bug 561210] [NEW] Writing big files to NFS target causes system lock up

2010-04-12 Thread Ancoron Luziferis
Public bug reported:

I'm experiencing complete system lock ups occasionally when writing big
files to an NFS target.

I can't remember that I had such issues with Jaunty, but at least Karmic
and Lucid are affected in the exact same way.

In most cases just the mv or cp process hangs for a while, but
sometimes the whole system freezes, including X.

Although some things keep running (e.g. the clock on my G15 Keyboard LCD
display doesn't freeze, so the g15daemon keeps running as usual), I'm
unable to get the system back to a normal state. Even waiting a whole
night for the NFS task to finish doesn't succeed. In such a case the NFS
server side is completely idle, not receiving any data from the client.
I have to hard reset the client machine to get a working system again.

The server is a Busybox NAS system with the following exports options:
rw,no_wdelay,no_root_squash,insecure_locks,no_subtree_check

The clients are mounting with these options:
rw,rsize=32768,wsize=32768,hard,intr,noatime

All machines are connected through a LevelOne GSW-0803T 8-port GBit
switch with Cat6e cables. No wireless here. No other issues with
networking here. The client machines are both AMD64 AMD Quad-Cores, both
have GigaByte mainboards using the internal GBit Ethernet connector for
networking.

Some time ago I also used a Dell Inspiron (32-bit Pentium-M system)
notebook with a 100MBit connection on this network without such issues.

The following gets logged during one of those lock-ups:

INFO: task mv:26028 blocked for more than 120 seconds.
echo 0 /proc/sys/kernel/hung_task_timeout_secs disables this message.
