Yeah, setting irqbalance to respawn isn't a good idea. If there's only one core, irqbalance will terminate immediately. If there's only one CPU (possibly with multiple cores), irqbalance goes into oneshot mode and will terminate after ~10 seconds of runtime (SLEEP_INTERVAL is 10 seconds and then there's a bit of processing overhead). When upgrading machines from hardy to lucid, I always get asked about
/etc/dhcp3/dhclient.conf. I don't believe we modify dhclient.conf (the
only time we use dhcp is during install, we use manual network
configuration after that), so I don't think we should be getting this
prompt.

Currently there is the possibility to create snapshots of a whole VM (memory, state and all disks) by using the monitor command 'savevm'. But it is impossible to create just snapshots from (dedicated) disk drives. Also the VM must not be stopped when creating snapshots from the disk. Idea for backup: switch database into backup mode, create snapshot, switch database back into 'normal' mode, create a backup using qemu-img convert. Therefore a new monitor command was implemented (see attached patch). The command 'snapshot_create' takes two optional parameters: o tag / id: same as for savevm o device: the name of the device which should be snapshotted. If empty all devices are snapshotted. This command can also be used with the QMP interface. Anyone else able to reproduce this bug? I just checked and made sure I had the latest BIOS version for the motherboard, and I do. I'm not sure how I can help debug this -- I presume its a KVM issue, but am I wrong? Is it the system passing along bad ACPI info directly to the VM? Many connection_read(): no connection! warnings are written to /var/log/debug and /var/log/syslog by slapd. As stated at http://www.openldap.org/lists/openldap-software/200811/msg00079.html , this is apparently not a problem with slapd, but a client that is disconnecting without first unbinding. This appears to be an issue with the libldap client library provided by OpenLDAP itself (2.4.21), and not the slapd daemon. Issue is reproducible even by just using ldapsearch -H ldapi:///, but only if a bind DN is specified (-D) and external authentication is not used. Running slapd with logging enabled (-d 8) shows the attached 3 sequences - ldapsearch command followed by the slapd logs. Note that the connection_read(): no connection! is only visible on the middle pair. If this can't / won't be fixed in the client library, the logging of the connection_read(): no connection! event from slapd should at least be demoted to a lower level so that it doesn't fill the default logging output, without having to change the overall configured logging level and potentially missing other logged events that do require attention. just my 2 cents: The problem was (in my case) that at the time mysql upstart job is fired /var/run isn't mounted. There should be a tempfs in /var/run. Additional apparmor prevents mysql to put its sock under /var/run instead of /var/run/mysqld. Nope - this is not true: This version of qemu-img does *not* detect qcow2 images which life inside a LVM2 logical volume. Without the patch, qemu-img detects a 'host_device' in this case, e.g. 'qemu-img snapshot -l ...' does not print anything. Hi Mathias, Not as far as I was aware. Thunderbird and Chrome were the only apps running at the time. A similar problem occurred when I upgraded from Karmic to Lucid, but a reboot sorted the issue. I had to manually remove my MySQL directory from /etc before I could remove the package via apt-get --remove. Prior to me doing this, the upgrade kept freezing on trying to replace MySQL.
