[Bug 611579] [NEW] Kile does not remember custom Latex commands
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kile Hi there, I am trying to defining a custom Latex Command (via Settings->Configure Kile->Latex,General->Commands Configure->Commands Add). If I add a new Reference command with the name prettyref, this command can be used properly in the running session (autocompletion works, autoexpansion of labels works). However, when closing and restarting Kile my custom command is gone. Kile seems to fail in storing the command to kilerc. Here is hat happens. When closing Kile, I get the following error printed in the terminal: kile(3364)/kdecore (KConfigSkeleton) KCoreConfigSkeleton::writeConfig: "KConfigIni: In file /home/plotzer/.kde/share/config/kilerc, line 169: " "Invalid escape sequence "\p"." And the corresponding line in the file ends up to be: kilerc, line 169: \\rettyref=R,,,{ } and the upon restart, the custom command is gone (could not be loaded from kilerc, I guess). I hope this helps to track down the problem. Thanks in advance, alex ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 Package: kile 1:2.1.0~svn1112263beta4-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-24.38-generic 2.6.32.15+drm33.5 Uname: Linux 2.6.32-24-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia Architecture: amd64 Date: Fri Jul 30 08:29:41 2010 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS "Lucid Lynx" - Release amd64 (20100427.1) ProcEnviron: PATH=(custom, user) LANG=en_US.utf8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: kile ** Affects: kile (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug lucid -- Kile does not remember custom Latex commands https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/611579 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to kile in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

[Bug 598033] Re: japitools should depend on a a headless JRE rather than a full JDK
In fact, Java packages must use a slightly more complex dependency: "default-jre-headless | javaN-runtime-headless" N being the lowest version of Java required to run it (2 or 5 or 6). javaN-runtime-headless is a virtual that is provided by all the corresponding JVMs. It's an OR that ensures that: - if you already have an acceptable JVM installed, it satisfies the dep - if you don't have anything installed, it will pick default-jre-headless So you must look into the build and check if the ant rules specify the level of the code built (by default I think it's 5), and specify the appropriate dep formula. -- japitools should depend on a a headless JRE rather than a full JDK https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/598033 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 539163] Re: [Legacy Radeon cards] Desktop effects/compiz: display brightness fluctuation with zoom, workspace switch or Expo
@ Andreas Modinos, Your solution worked well, although it was confusing. Specifically, you should do the following: 1. On the left side, go to Category > General Options > Display Settings (Tab) > Lighting (uncheck box). I'm wondering if this could be disabled by default or if it is neccesary for new video cards. [Bug 550566] Re: Full-screen window prevents notification on other workspaces
I'm confirming this, with a significant use-case. I have two monitors. I quite frequently have a full-screen gnome-terminal running on the second monitor, but my first monitor is still available for dealing with email, messaging, and whatever else needs to be done. [Bug 475679] Re: Mapping a Windows DFS share doesn't properly show me the filesystem.
I solve the problem in Ubuntu 10.04 and Nautilus 2.30.1 to put in (I have static IP address) /etc/resolv.conf "search network_name" The problem was because I didn't have proper network name in resolv.conf and dfs server redirected smbclient to a computer with a share without network name, for example "dfscompouter" and my computer was unable to see this computer. When I put this "network_name" into resolv.con my computer was able to find "dfscomputer". [Bug 603656] Re: [maverick] Package "eclipse" has broken dependencies.
Thanks Benjamin - I very much appreciate that you took the time to reply. Just so I'm clear on what's going on, following the link you provided, it seems that eclipse 3.5.2-5 is waiting to build for AMD64 because it is dependent on the libhamcrest-java library (>= 1.1-8~). However, from the libhamcrest-java page ( https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source /libhamcrest-java/1.1-8 ), it appears that the libhamcrest-java package (which you uploaded the current version two days ago) will only ever be built for the i386 architecture. That suggests to me that AMD64 users should just download eclipse from the web and not wait for ubuntu's package. Is that the best way to proceed, or have I completely misunderstood what's going on? -- [maverick] Package "eclipse" has broken dependencies. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/603656 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 542183] Re: [users-admin] Changing UID doesn't work
In order to be clear: Bug #553746 "Cannot Change User and Group ID" is marked as a duplicate of this one (by Milan, btw), Which is why I'm commenting here. In the original text for that that bug, it says: > Furthermore, adding a new user gives you no opportunity to set the User ID. And that is what _I_ need: A new user with a specific user ID. (I have to connect to an NFS volume, where my files already pre-exist with a specific user and group ID - 1000 or 1001 just won't cut it) Perhaps my situation isn't relevant for this bug, and I should open a new bug for setting the User ID when creating a new user. But anyway, for my situation, I guess I'll create the new user and group, hand-edit /etc/passwd and /etc/group and then do something like this: sudo find / -o -uid $olduid -print0 | sudo xargs -0 chown $newuid sudo find / -o -uid $oldgid -print0 | sudo xargs -0 chgrp $newgid -- [users-admin] Changing UID doesn't work https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/542183 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 611551] [NEW] Non-dismissible alert: No packages installed
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-codec-install When trying to play a certain wav file through either the totem plugin in Firefox or through the totem plugin directly, I get prompted to install gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad, which just happens to not be installable right now in maverick. So after clicking 'install' I get an alert window: No packages installed None of the selected packages were installed. This alert can't be dismissed. If I click the Ok button or the close box, it just stays there. Its parent window can't be closed either. The process isn't locked up, since the windows still refresh and the buttons animate in response to my clicking, but since it won't close the window, I have to kill the process. [Bug 574910] Re: High load averages on Lucid while idling
Not that this will do much to track down the issue, but I have some more case history. Today I was tidying up some vdi disks on my host system (work system running 10.04 w/ 2.6.31-17 on Core2 Duo E6750 2.66GHz 4GB ram). A disk to disk (two physical disks) copy of a 7.5GB vdi caused the load average to climb up to about 8 today. An rzip of the vdi image caused the load average to climb to about 6. It slowed down the primary system, and the virtual boxes. The system s that shared the spindle where the data was being compressed was worst of all (obviously). All systems were sluggish but not unusable. So I bought the vdi image home. My home system (black) is an AMD Athlon(tm) II X2 250 Processor at 3GHZ with 4 GB of ram and two 250GB (hardware) mirrored disks where Ubuntu 9.10 w/Kernel 2.6.31-20 lives. During the entire time that rzip was running the load average never went about 1.7. When it was finished it sank very fast to 0.14 whereas on my work system after a peak it takes about 3 min to reach a "normal" level of load of at least .I know this is kind of like comparing apples to hammers. I don't have a "pure" 10.04 system at work or at home that has enough disk space free do uncompress a 7gb image with out doing some work to create a new disk and attach it to an existing system. So I did the next best thing I could come up with. On Violet (guest on black) my 10.04 that has not had the kernel retrograded, I did a tar of a folder containing 1.9GB of PDFs, images, mp3s, text, etc. Almost instantly violet went from 1.03 to 3.83. Firefox had ha hard time keeping up with my typing and right clicking for spelling checks. It took from 21:34 to 21:38 (while I was doing nothing but watching top) for the loadavg1 to drop from 3.72 to 1.08. I then did an rzip on the tar file. at 21:40 with a loadavg1 of 1.29 I started the test. It is with great interest that I only saw the loadavg1 go to about 4.33 (max) but the system was far more sluggish (a right click was a 4-5 second delay) and top would freeze up for several updates (2s/update) and then rush to catch up. It sopped zipping at 22:01. Watching top I saw most of the time %us was between 40 and 70, %sys was about 5-15. The amount of time needed to rzip the smaller 2GB of data was much longer (many minuets) than it took to unrzip 7gb of data.I know that zip and unzip are not symmetrical, but 20 minuets to about 5 and only dealing with about 28% of the data? It just doesn't seem right. -- High load averages on Lucid while idling https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/574910 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I ran f-spot like this: f-spot --debug ** Running f-spot in Debug Mode ** ** Running Mono with --debug ** [Info 04:29:39.384] Initializing DBus [Debug 04:29:39.986] DBusInitialization took 0.55901s [Info 04:29:39.987] Initializing Mono.Addins [Debug 04:29:40.795] Mono.Addins Initialization took 0.808157s [Info 04:29:40.820] Starting new FSpot server (f-spot 0.6.1.5) [Debug 04:29:41.458] Db Initialization took 0.446167s [Debug 04:29:42.432] Query Started : SELECT * FROM photos WHERE photos.id NOT IN (SELECT photo_id FROM photo_tags WHERE tag_id = 2) ORDER BY time DESC, filename DESC [Debug 04:29:42.436] QueryToTemp took 0.003634s : SELECT * FROM photos WHERE photos.id NOT IN (SELECT photo_id FROM photo_tags WHERE tag_id = 2) ORDER BY time DESC, filename DESC [Debug 04:29:42.436] Reloading the query took 0.013616s [Debug 04:29:42.755] PhotosPerMonth took 0.005972s [Debug 04:29:42.761] TimeAdaptor REAL Reload took 0.228334s [Debug 04:29:43.883] Query Started : SELECT * FROM photos WHERE photos.id NOT IN (SELECT photo_id FROM photo_tags WHERE tag_id = 2) ORDER BY time DESC, filename DESC [Debug 04:29:43.887] QueryToTemp took 0.004391s : SELECT * FROM photos WHERE photos.id NOT IN (SELECT photo_id FROM photo_tags WHERE tag_id = 2) ORDER BY time DESC, filename DESC [Debug 04:29:44.063] Reloading the query took 0.182077s [Debug 04:29:44.073] Query Started : SELECT * FROM photos WHERE photos.id NOT IN (SELECT photo_id FROM photo_tags WHERE tag_id = 2) ORDER BY time DESC, filename DESC [Debug 04:29:44.077] QueryToTemp took 0.002324s : SELECT * FROM photos WHERE photos.id NOT IN (SELECT photo_id FROM photo_tags WHERE tag_id = 2) ORDER BY time DESC, filename DESC [Debug 04:29:44.090] Reloading the query took 0.017749s [Debug 04:29:44.111] PhotosPerMonth took 0.003642s [Debug 04:29:44.112] TimeAdaptor REAL Reload took 0.033955s [Info 04:29:44.115] Starting BeagleService [Debug 04:29:44.118] BeagleService startup took 4.6E-05s [Info 04:29:44.193] Hack for gnome-settings-daemon engaged (f-spot:31541): GdkPixbuf-WARNING **: GdkPixbufLoader finalized without calling gdk_pixbuf_loader_close() - this is not allowed.
