This is evolving to a subject better discussed at the forums by the way,
as this seems to be a misconfiguration in the stacklet.
The hostname is kept by the kernel in /proc/sys/kernel/hostname. In your
case, it is ubuntu.
What hostname -f does, is the equivalent of running
getent hosts `hostname` | awk '{print $2}'
on the command line. If that command doesn't work, hostname -f won't
work either.
Please attach your /etc/resolv.conf, /etc/nsswitch.conf and /etc/hosts
so I can see what's wrong with the NSS resolver on your system.

I've now had a chance to install the PHP5 build from ppa:zulcss/server- lucid-bug-fixes. With that build, I was able to download a file 2^32 bytes (over the 4.2Gb boundary) successfully. I still need to test the scripts I have running under Apache2 / PHP5 / Mysql 5.0 from Ubuntu 8.04 LTS to see if they continue to run under a Ubuntu 10.04 LTS configuration. Installing the version of PHP5 from ppa:zulcss/server-lucid-bug-fixes using aptitude resulted in uninstalling a number of items (such as autoconf, automake, autotools-dev, libssl-dev, libtools, m4, shtool, zlib_g-dev), so it looks like there are some additional regression builds that will be needed to make the package system happy. Prior to the PHP5 install, the system was running Ubuntu desktop 10.04 LTS with the latest public standard production updates. first of all, just started my laptop, again which runs the ldap, and noticed no
hanging ldap startup, but also no running process.
tried by hand, bu no hangs, just an error (as below).

Basically i never looked at the ldapi:/// but as i read now it's an IPC
connector which should be faster then a regular socket.

[Bug 611569] [NEW] cdrom automounter broken in Ubuntu 10.04
Public bug reported: After installation Ubuntu 10.04 tried to mount an inexistant floppy drive and didn't find my CD/DVD drive. For now I simply changed in /etc/fstab the floppy to cdrom and /dev/sr0 but this is still very annoying as automunt etc. is not working. I can only mount now via settings- drivemanagement. Also k3b etc cannot use the drive. The machine hibernates correctly and suspends but will not wake up from suspending it. Very annoying. Hi there,
I am trying to defining a custom Latex Command (via Settings-Configure
Kile-Latex,General-Commands Configure-Commands Add).
If I add a new Reference command with the name prettyref, this command can be
used properly in the running session (autocompletion works, autoexpansion of
labels works). However, when closing and restarting Kile my custom command is
gone.
Kile seems to fail in storing the command to kilerc. Here is hat happens.
When closing Kile, I get the following error printed in the terminal:

And the corresponding line in the file ends up to be:

from kilerc, I guess).

I have found that the trick of removing the firmware I described in #86 produces mixed results: Sometimes everything will work on boot-up, sometimes I need to suspend and resume to make things work. Hello Gerald, I'm pretty sure it was exactly the same, but here's something weird... I did a complete removal again in synaptic and then re-installed it just to reproduce the errors. Now however I saw lots of 'merging' messages concerning registry keys (HKEY_THIS_MACHINE) that I did not see the last time I installed. Now I did not get any error messages however, the installation was succesful. Got a similar problem but ONLY on mixed mode network. When network is set to G-only (on my wireless router) wicd works fine. When I set the network to NG-Mixed mode wicd is unable to connect - bad password. Network-manager works fine so this is a problem with wicd.
