[Bug 666625] [NEW] slapd no longer installs default database since 10.04
Public bug reported: Up to 9.04, slapd's postinstall script installed a default LDAP database (with a DN derived from the server's hostname) if none was present already. Since 10.04, it only installs the cn=config space, but no user data. Moreover, there is no utility present to do this easily manually. ** Affects: openldap (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- slapd no longer installs default database since 10.04 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/25 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to openldap in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Filed a mysql bug: http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=57726 Note that the query is generated by hibernate and is quite common. I guess a lot of packages using hibernate will fail when being run on Ubuntu 10.10. Is there an easy way to install an older/newer version of mysql-server on Ubuntu as a workaround? [Bug 372001] Re: default network autostart symlink recreated
This is happening because the package is shipping the symlink as a conffile. Generally speaking, this isn't a great idea, and dpkg's handling of symlink-as-conffile cases is shockingly non-obvious. Like most packages with symlink trees in /etc, what this should be doing is not shipping the symlink as a file, but rather creating it in the postinst on new installs (and only new installs), so a sysadming choosing to remove the symlink won't have to worry about it coming back spontaneously. -- default network autostart symlink recreated https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/372001 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to libvirt in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 579736] [NEW] upgrade from hardy to lucid uninstalls samba
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Binary package hint: update-manager I upgraded from 8.04 LTS to 10.04 LTS. This is a fairly standard install because all I need to do on this box is apache, mysql, samba, and sshd. Steps to reproduce: -install hardy -install samba -set up a few samba shares -update all packages to latest -upgrade from hardy to lucid -reboot Before I managed to fix: dpkg --list | grep samba rc samba 3.0.28a-1ubuntu4.10 a LanManager-like file and printer server fo ii samba-common 2:3.4.7~dfsg-1ubuntu3 common files used by both the Samba server a ii samba-common-bin 2:3.4.7~dfsg-1ubuntu3 common files used by both the Samba server a ii samba-doc 2:3.4.7~dfsg-1ubuntu3 Samba documentation After I managed to fix: ii samba 2:3.4.7~dfsg-1ubuntu3 SMB/CIFS file, print, and login server for U ii samba-common 2:3.4.7~dfsg-1ubuntu3 common files used by both the Samba server a ii samba-common-bin 2:3.4.7~dfsg-1ubuntu3 common files used by both the Samba server a ii samba-doc 2:3.4.7~dfsg-1ubuntu3 Samba documentation I usually to all package management through aptitude because it's more flexible for someone who does not want to memorize syntax and wants to ensure dependency issues are resolved. [Bug 666528] Re: nfs-common's postinst script fails if no upstart running
Thanks for your quick response. What method of installation are you using that results in this code failing during a CD install? We have a script here which takes as input a kubuntu-alternate CD, drops the packages we don't need, adds those that we do (adding the dependencies using germinate). Then the Packages (etc.) are recalculated to match the contents of the CD. This approach used to work until 9.04. With 10.04 we are seeing this problem. The installer needs to be diverting /sbin/initctl and replacing it with /bin/true to indicate that this is inside an installation chroot Good idea. How should this be done? And why is it failing on our custom CDs? Could it be that we accidentally dropped the package which does this diversion? If so, what package would that be, so that we can include it. Thinking about this initctl issue, we've been having a similar issue about databases with a number of our packages. Some of these packages want to initialize some contents in a mysql database, but mysql does not yet run in the install environment. What method should be used there? Does (k)ubuntu have a standard way to defer such installation of data until the first time the database server is up (say, after the first boot into the full system). [Bug 666625] [NEW] slapd no longer installs default database since 10.04
Public bug reported: Up to 9.04, slapd's postinstall script installed a default LDAP database (with a DN derived from the server's hostname) if none was present already. I have tried setting the interface on the Garmin to Garmin and NMEA. I have also tried using gpsd, but still not managed to connect to the eTrex.. I have also tried connecting using gpsd with the same results. Now if I try on the same computer running Maverick using Windows XP running under Virtual Box, I can connect to the eTrex. If I install Lucid on the computer, I can connect to the eTrex with no problem. I get similar results on another computer runing Maverick. [Bug 651229] Re: update manager doesn't use proxy authentication info and gets no internet access
I'm having the same problem after upgrading from 10.04 to 10.10. I've made the changes manually in my apt.conf file (It seems to take the proxy settings from the System/Preferences/Network Proxy when you apply it globally, but it doesn't set the authentication details?) However, this doesn't fix the problem. I can now run 'apt-get update' but clicking check in the update-manager still results in the 407 error. -- update manager doesn't use proxy authentication info and gets no internet access https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/651229 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 666637] [NEW] Vorbis stream not seekable in Totem
Public bug reported: After recent changes in Jamendo's streaming service, it's no longer possible to seek forward nor backward in playing time of their Vorbis streams using Totem. VLC however lets me seek just as before. Also, seeking does work if I opt the stream as MP3. My main desktop is an up-to-date Lucid, and I've also reproduced this in a virtual Maverick. Set up: have Jamendo stream using external player, with Vorbis+m3u or Vorbis+xspf. Associate said playlist format with Totem. Start streaming, try to skip time within the playing track. I've found an upstream bug which seems related: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=629212#. I didn't link it straight away because I'm not sure if it's the exact same one as this. ** Affects: gstreamer0.10 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Vorbis stream not seekable in Totem https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/37 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
