qemu-kvm is what's currently in the Ubuntu archive; I'm sure Peter will
also arrange for the ubuntu-qemu-omap branch to get these fixes once

In any case, these fixes are also going upstream and will eventually
bubble up to derived trees

[Bug 667817] Re: euca-bundle-vol should create target filesystem same as source

2011-01-07 Thread ray charly
Hi,
First sorry for my poor English.
yesterday i tried to find an approach to solve the problem with hard coded
ext3 filesystem in euca2ool/__init__.py.
My first reflexion was to write a function that get Informations about the
filesystem of the Instance then Overrides the global hard coded variable in
Euca2ools/__init__.py   ( NEW_FSTAB, OLD_FSTAB and MAKEFS_CMD )
So this function could be call in def make_fs(self, image_path ) to Update the
filesytem type.
Even i think that ALLOWED_FS_TYPES = ['ext2', 'ext3', 'xfs', 'jfs', 'reiserfs']
should containt an ext4 Entry.

But after reading this post
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cloud-init/+bug/665235/comments/4
about /dev/sda1
i'm not sure anymore, that it is a good approach to solve it, since the Hard
drive names are not the same on all Systems (/dev/sdax or /dev/vsda or /dev/sdh
??)

I wrote a small stand alone Test file ( Just with the Hard coded
variables and an update function) to illustrate what i mean.

Is it the right way to look for a solution to this problem?
The code looks a bit curious, since i'm not a Python Programmer.

Thanks

Raymdt

It depends on the size of the fix, if it's something simple we can for
sure also update the qemu-kvm package. But as Loic pointed out, these
fixes are landing upstream soon, so it'll eventually end up at this
package later on.

Debian doesn't force the use of --as-needed at link time (yet?) as far
as I know, so this wouldn't FTBFS on Debian.

It would be nice to be able to build the package with --as-needed in
Debian, so filing a bug about it still makes sense.

Cheers,

2011-01-07 Thread Colin Watson
Tom, thanks for your patch. I agree that it would be best to fix this
in Debian. However, the Debian maintainers are unlikely to see it here.
Could you forward this patch to the Debian BTS
(http://www.debian.org/Bugs/Reporting) and link the bug here?

If it gets too late in the Ubuntu release cycle (feature freeze or so)
and there's been no response from Debian, then of course we can go ahead
and fix this in Ubuntu as needs must.

[Bug 604872] Re: qemu-system-arm segfaults emulating versatile machine after running debootstrap --second-stage inside vm

2011-01-07 Thread Peter Maydell
I've now posted this patchset; it comes in 7 parts:

http://patchwork.ozlabs.org/patch/77887/
http://patchwork.ozlabs.org/patch/77882/
http://patchwork.ozlabs.org/patch/77884/
http://patchwork.ozlabs.org/patch/77885/
http://patchwork.ozlabs.org/patch/77888/
http://patchwork.ozlabs.org/patch/77881/
http://patchwork.ozlabs.org/patch/77883/

An upstream qemu with those patches applied successfully runs the test
case given in this bug.

(it is patch 5/7 http://patchwork.ozlabs.org/patch/77888/ in particular
which is dealing with the specific case you've hit here, but I haven't
tested with that patch alone.)

[Bug 697181] Re: DoS: Infinite loop processing 2.2250738585072011e-308

2011-01-07 Thread Steve Beattie
I've confirmed that marking the double variables as volatile in
maverick's php causes the infinite loop not to get triggered on i386
(and think I understand why that's the case). However, attempts to
reproduce the issue with php from 9.10 (karmic), 8.04 (hardy), and 6.06
(dapper) fail for no apparent reason -- the zend_strtod.c code is nearly
identical between karmic and lucid's versions. Does anyone have an
indication as to what's different that woul cause this issue not to be
triggered on older releases? Thanks.

[Bug 699967] [NEW] Empty list of plugins/services with hostname containing uppercase letters

2011-01-07 Thread Daniel Hahler
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: munin

I've upgraded my munin-node instance on my OpenVZ hardware node to
1.4.5-1 from Debian testing, but this caused the list of services to be
empty (via telnet localhost 4949, then list).

Downgrading to 1.4.4-1~blueyedppa2 (basically a backport of 1.4.4-1 from
Debian).

There are plugins installed (quite a lot), and I can run them manually
using munin-run.

I haven't really looked into this issue in detail and don't know yet if
the proposed fix is ok.

But in case you want to ahead with it: Your patch is against the wrong
package. srclib/ in apache2 is never compiled. You would have to patch
the apr package and rebuild apache2 with the fixed libapr1-dev.

[Bug 699665] Re: sshd crashed during a rsync

2011-01-07 Thread Clint Byrum
Hi Simon, thanks for taking the time to file this bug report and help us
make Ubuntu better.

Without a core file from the crash, or a set of steps to repeat this,
its very difficult to take this bug report anywhere.

I did attempt to recreate the scenario but saw now segfault, and anyway,
without your data, its not accurate.

So, without a way to reproduce it, I think maybe this report should be
marked Incomplete. I'm leaving it as New though, as there may be subtle
clues in the error to help find the segfault.

[Bug 697815] Re: bzr crashed with ShortReadvError in _seek_and_read()

2011-01-07 Thread Vincent Ladeuil
As seen in the ML thread, this is caused by an empty pack file.

The attached script will help restore the *repository* in a working
state (by getting rid of the reference to the empty pack file) but will
not fix any branch that refer to it (nor restore its content which is
lost for good :-/).

Fixing the branch itself can be achieved while keeping the changes in
the working tree and committing again which will create a new pack file.

To get there:
- create a branch based on a valid revision,
- copy the 'last-revision' file in '.bzr/branch' from the good branch to the
broken one
- 'bzr st' and 'bzr diff' should show you the uncommitted changes

[Bug 541492] Re: MASTER: [i845] GPU lockup (apport-crash) (Should KMS be blacklisted?)

2011-01-07 Thread Geir Ove Myhr
Note that the upstream 845G bug report has been reopened. It turned out
that the fixes (which are contained in Brian's PPA kernel) are
insufficient to fix the 845G-specific problem completely. The kernel
will probably improve stability on 845G, but I think adding results from

[Bug 691130] Re: PDF workflow flawed, crashes printers

2011-01-07 Thread Valentijn Sessink
Printing the file does *not* work with these changes. That is: if you
have these changes, and try to print non-duplex, the printer will
freeze. Printing duplex does work. Regarding the printer model: I'll get
back to you with the specific model, because, actually, it strikes me as
a bit odd that this would be a 4510.

[Bug 699734] [NEW] [MIR] tokyocabinet

2011-01-07 Thread Antonio Radici
Public bug reported:

Asking for a MainInclusionProcess for tokyocabinet because this is a new
dependency of mutt (included in Debian from mutt release 1.5.20 and the
ubuntu maintainer has to patch mutt every time to replace tokyocabinet
with gdbm because tokyocabinet is not available in main). Additionally
tokyocabinet is reported to be a lot faster than gdbm so the user
experience will improve considerable. Tokyocabinet is currently used to
manage the header cache in mutt.

The checklist from
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuMainInclusionRequirements follows:

* 1. Availability:
the package is already in universe and it builds fine on the architecture
supported by the latest ubuntu distro

* 2. Rationale:
** it is a new build dependency of mutt which is already in main
(libtokyocabinet-dev)
** once mutt binary is built, it is a new shlib dependency of it
(tokyocabinet8, at the moment)
** see the start of this bug for a full explanation

* 3. Security:
** see the security section below

* 4. Quality assurance:
** no configuration is required, this is just a shared library, it's up to the
packages depending on this shared library to write the code to use it
** there are no long term bugs for it

** no important bugs in Debian:
http://bugs.debian.org/tokyocabinet

** no important bugs in Ubuntu:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bugs?field.searchtext=tokyocabinetorderby=-importancesearch=Searchfield.status:list=NEWfield.status:list=INCOMPLETE_WITH_RESPONSEfield.status:list=INCOMPLETE_WITHOUT_RESPONSEfield.status:list=CONFIRMEDfield.status:list=TRIAGEDfield.status:list=INPROGRESSfield.status:list=FIXCOMMITTEDfield.assignee=field.bug_reporter=field.omit_dupes=onfield.has_patch=field.has_no_package=

** upstream bug tracker has not been found, I have sent a mail to
i...@fallabs.com asking for the url of it (if it exists)

** the package is well maintained in Debian and it is imported as-is
into Ubuntu; Pierre Habouzit, the current maintainer, is very responsive
and the package is hosted on collab-maint so NMU's are welcome.

** the package does not deal with any exotic hardware

** the package ships a testsuite which is correctly executed as part of
the build

* 5. UI Standards
** does not apply, not an UI

* 6. Dependencies
** the following build-deps are all in ubuntu main:
Build-Depends: autotools-dev, chrpath, debhelper (= 7.0.50), libbz2-dev,
zlib1g-dev
** no Recommends: section
** binary deps are also in main (apart from the tokyocabinet packages
themselves)

* 7. Standards compliance
** the packages is FHS and Debian Policy compliant
** the package would be lintian clean if it weren't for two warnings (two wrong
section in the manual pages) which I'm going
to fix with an NMU
** the packaging is maintained under Debian collab-maint in a git repository
that follows the standard (i,e.: master, upstream and pristine-tar branches and
package build with git-buildpackage)

* 8. Maintenance
** the package is just a library, it doesn't require a great deal of
maintenance from the Ubuntu devs, you can sync the package from Debian as-is

* 9. Background information
** the package description is pretty much self-explainatory
** the package has not been renamed
** please see the beginning of this bug for more information about the package
or feel free to ask any questions in this bug report

- Security Checks
* no vulns reported in CVE:
http://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvekey.cgi?keyword=tokyocabinet

* no vulns reported in secunia:
http://secunia.com/advisories/search/?search=tokyocabinet

* ubuntu CVE trackers are clean

* security of the binary
** no executables with sgid or suid
** no executables in /sbin or /usr/sbin
** the package does not install any deamon
** the package does not open any privileged port
** no add-ons or plugins that we are aware of

[Bug 699694] Re: [pbuilder-dist] Improve error message when is lack of permissions

2011-01-07 Thread Stefano Rivera
I saw this discussion on IRC, but the error messages you quoted aren't
in the pbuilder-dist source.

Can you please be more clear about what permission was incorrect and
what error you were getting?

[Bug 699746] [NEW] Nvidia Twinview loads classic Ubuntu top panel

2011-01-07 Thread James Pursey
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: unity

Hi

After launching the Twinview function to enable multiple screens, the
top panel from Ubuntu classic, ie Applications, Places, System + the
Firefox launcher and any other launchers the user has put in the Ubuntu
Classic top panel are loaded into Unity. They are, however, totally
unusable - nothing happens when you press them. These buttons totally
obscure any buttons needed to operate any applications you may be using,
making them inoperable. Disabling Twinview does not make the Ubuntu
Classic top bar disappear - it is necessary to log out and log back in
to get the Unity panel to function properly again.
