I found no code that does five attempts. But this code in main.c, starting on Line 618: while (!exit_flag) { struct timeval timeout; gettimeofday(timeout, NULL); timeout.tv_sec += poll_interval; upsdrv_updateinfo(); while (!dstate_poll_fds(timeout, extrafd) !exit_flag) { /* repeat until time is up or extrafd has data */ upsdrv_updateinfo() calls smartmode(). dstate_poll_fds() checks if there is any file descriptor that is available. In our case: select(7, [4 5 6], NULL, NULL, {1, 999837}) = 1 (in [4], left {1, 999835}) FD 4 is the serial line, which is passed to dstate_poll_fds() as extrafd. When there is data that can be read from the UPS no code in dstate_poll_fds() reads from extrafd, there is only code that reads from the other input FDs. The outer loop above also ignores extrafd. exit_flag is never set, so it continues. And because there is an active file descriptor, the select returns immediately (actually it takes two microseconds). The solution is to add code that reads all data from extrafd and discards it because nobody asked for it. I would also close and reopen the serial line in smartmode(). I would prepare a patch if I knew more about the I/O abstractions used in the nut driver code. Sorry. [Bug 710319] Re: CPU usage is incorrect on server-status page
I took the kernel version that currently is in updates (2.6.32-28.55) and added the backport of the patch I was mentioning above. All the kernel packages are at: http://people.canonical.com/~smb/lp710319/. There are packages for all kinds of installations, so don't worry you will only need to download 3. What you need is basically the linux-headers-*all* package and the a linux-headers and linux-image for your installed architecture and flavor (the latter you can find out with uname -r). The you do a sudo dpkg -i files with the three files and you have installed the test kernel (I test booted the amd64, generic one which does at least not explode in a heap for me). After rebooting you should see the lp710319 in uname -a and then it would be interesting to hear whether that still gives the wrong apache stats. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to apache2 in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/710319 Title: CPU usage is incorrect on server-status page -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

This code is in the smartmode() function of apcsmart.c: http://svn.debian.org/wsvn/nut/trunk/drivers/apcsmart.c we see the 5 attempts to go to smart mode ('Y' command), but my aim is to understand why it is failing, and how to cleanly solve this without impacting support for other units. Sorry. [Bug 719356] [NEW] visudo doesn’t handle includedir apparently
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: sudo Hello! I noticed that recently a new “/etc/sudoers.d” directory was added, as well as the “/etc/sudoers.dpkg-dist” file. A comment in the latter encourages me to put any modifications to “/etc/sudoers” in a separate file inside the new directory, and use the “includedir” directive to use it. It also insists that all modifications to “/etc/sudoers” be done with “visudo”. I tried doing this without success. I used “visudo -f” to create a file containing my customizations in “/etc/sudoers.d”, and it worked (at least I didn’t get any complaints). Then I tried to replace my old “/etc/sudoers” with the version left by dpkg, except uncommenting the “includedir” directive. I did this using visudo, but it complains with “/etc/sudoers: syntax error near line 25” (that’s the line with “includedir” if counting from 0, or the blank line immediately before it if counting from 1). I think this means that “visudo” doesn’t understand “includedir”, which is probably a bug. The files I tried to use are pasted below. (My current “/etc/sudoers” is practically the same thing: the alias specifications are below the “# Cmnd alias specification” comment, and the “bogdanb” line is where the “includedir” directive would be.) * * * /etc/sudoers * * * # # This file MUST be edited with the 'visudo' command as root. # # Please consider adding local content in /etc/sudoers.d/ instead of # directly modifying this file. # # See the man page for details on how to write a sudoers file. # Defaultsenv_reset # Host alias specification # User alias specification # Cmnd alias specification # User privilege specification rootALL=(ALL:ALL) ALL # Members of the admin group may gain root privileges %admin ALL=(ALL) ALL # Allow members of group sudo to execute any command %sudo ALL=(ALL:ALL) ALL #includedir /etc/sudoers.d * * * /etc/sudoers.d/bogdanb * * * Cmnd_Alias MOUNT = /bin/mount, /bin/umount Cmnd_Alias VIEW = /bin/cat, /bin/ls Cmnd_Alias OTHER = /sbin/shutdown, /sbin/reboot, /sbin/halt Cmnd_Alias PAGERS = /bin/more, /usr/bin/less Cmnd_Alias APT = /usr/bin/aptitude update, /usr/bin/aptitude dist-upgrade, /usr/bin/aptitude safe-upgrade, /usr/bin/aptitude upgrade bogdanb ALL =(ALL) ALL, NOPASSWD: MOUNT, VIEW, OTHER, PAGERS, APT Cmnd_Alias MOUNT = /bin/mount, /bin/umount Cmnd_Alias VIEW = /bin/cat, /bin/ls Cmnd_Alias OTHER = /sbin/shutdown, /sbin/reboot, /sbin/halt Cmnd_Alias PAGERS = /bin/more, /usr/bin/less Cmnd_Alias APT = /usr/bin/aptitude update, /usr/bin/aptitude dist-upgrade, /usr/bin/aptitude safe-upgrade, /usr/bin/aptitude upgrade bogdanb ALL =(ALL) ALL, NOPASSWD: MOUNT, VIEW, OTHER, PAGERS, APT bogdanb@mabelode:/etc/sudoers.d$ ls -la total 16 drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 96 2011-02-15 14:41 ./ drwxr-xr-x 177 root root 8608 2011-02-15 14:46 ../ -r--r- 1 root root 395 2011-02-15 14:41 bogdanb -r--r- 1 root root 819 2010-02-09 03:19 README ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.04 Package: sudo 1.7.4p4-5ubuntu4 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.38-3.30-generic 2.6.38-rc4 Uname: Linux 2.6.38-3-generic x86_64 Architecture: amd64 Date: Tue Feb 15 14:47:03 2011 EcryptfsInUse: Yes ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=en_US:en PATH=(custom, user) LANG=en_US.UTF-8 LC_MESSAGES=en_US.utf8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: sudo VisudoCheck: /etc/sudoers: parsed OK ** Affects: sudo (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug natty -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/719356 Title: visudo doesn’t handle includedir apparently -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 574192] Re: Japanese E-mobile D26HW (carrier customized Huawei UMTS modem) fails to connect (regression from karmic)
Rolf, I expect you should be able to get this to work by using just an updated usb-modeswitch on Lucid (not modemmanager), can you confirm you tried that? I expect most of what's needed (aside from the recreation of profiles, which seems pretty unusual), is the modeswitch bits (so the modem is seen as a serial device/modem), and maybe the udev rules from Maverick's version of MM for which driver the modem should use. Unfortunately, I don't have such a device so I can't help so easily. ** Changed in: network-manager (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/574192 Title: Japanese E-mobile D26HW (carrier customized Huawei UMTS modem) fails to connect (regression from karmic) -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
