You're right about the errors. Apparently I had a full snapshot, but it doesn't make a difference. Meanwhile, I've had the time to test this. Hi Chuck - what logs would you like and from what point? The point being I wasn't getting a lot of logs - samba would fail with a rather obscure failure to connect if you attempted to access the shares at that point, and obviously winbind was not logging anything as it had hung. The fix was purely guesswork on my behalf, there wasn't really any help in the logs. I created a user instance of tomcat6 using tomcat6-instance-create When I try to configure in Eclipse, it complains that lib/jasper-el.jar not found. I can overcome this by creating a symbolic link to /usr/share/tomcat6/lib in my user instance directory. Next, when I try to start the server, it will complain about not finding catalina.policy (as reported in the bug) in the conf directory. All right, I retested this via testing Samba Port based printing which I used until SpoolSS / Point-n-Print was not working properly in Samba, back in v 3.0.2 time frame. That works properly allowing the check boxes / selection to enable the Envelope Feeder option to be active. I was able to print a COM10 envelope from WordPerfect and it was pulled correctly from the Envelope Feeder. Port based printing is where you go to the ports tab of the printer properties, add a port, and fill in the UNC path to the printer resource on the Samba server. So I believe this is specifically a problem with storing the printer driver on the Samba server via Point-n-Print and printing via SpoolSS. Unfortunately, ipc_owner is a rather strong capability (allows access to all shared memory), and it looks like ntpd expects to actually write to the memory region (e.g. shm-valid = 0 is in the code), so SHM_RDONLY doesn't seem viable either. I modified the code as follows and it seems to have fixed the issue:
Before (Line 9 in ec2.rb): Timeout::timeout(wait_sec) {open(ip, port)}
After: Timeout::timeout(wait_sec)
{open(http://#{ip}:#{port}/latest/meta-data;)}
After that change, the module seems to work properly in EC2 instances.

Something else I noticed, although I don't know if it's important: When an application (let's say the terminal), is updating regularly, it will affect areas outside of itself on the screen, which we've all discussed -- bleedover from one element on the screen to another. But even when that program is hidden by the screensaver, if the application has been affecting other areas of the screen, it will continue to do so even when not visible on the screen. Hey Mauricio, I just tried that on current natty. I installed and removed a language, changed the language order, changed the locale, several times, and did not get a crash. Since the time of the latest duplicate we got two major bug fix releases of pygobject, so that very well could have fixed the problem. Do you still get it on current natty? If you can still reproduce this, can you please file a new crash report? Unfortunately the reprocessed stack trace here is useless, but since then we fixed Apport to produce better stack traces, so a new report would help a lot. For that reason I'll close this one. Also I want say: printer have busy state in Maverick immediately after connecte to laptop. I just noticed that my WWAN connection was not working and investigated a bit. [Bug 732461] [NEW] [FFe] Please add python-novaclient to universe
Public bug reported: python-novaclient is the Python client library for interacting, through the OpenStack API, with OpenStack Nova. Since it is used in build-time tests, it will become a dependency of nova itself. Adding it in Universe for Natty will allow us to enable those tests at build-time and provide a consistent experience for the Nova user in Natty. The package is currently available at https://launchpad.net/~ttx/+archive/ppa and will be uploaded to Natty NEW if this exception is granted. Just tried on classic gnome desktop and there is not an issue because the entire panel is shown in each window.
