[Bug 731976] Re: SAMBA - Can't access Windows 7 computer via SAMBA

2011-03-21 Thread kwagga
Hi guys, I know what i'm about to say will sound down-right strange, but
my ubuntu 10.10 server (dist-upgrade from 10.04), the samba server
worked flawless. But now, I installed Ubuntu 10.10 desktop, and Samba
3.5.4 is giving me the exact same issues. No matter what
username/password I type in, samba will reject the Windows 7 client.

I've been searching forums for the last week, and no solution has proven
itself. I even disabled Send LM NTLM responses Minimum session
security for NTLM SSP Disable Require 128-bit encryption, which
proved useful for many people, as well as specifying the SMB ports to
445. Yet I never had to do this with the server-samba.

The samba log is riddled with errors such as these:

[2011/03/21 09:26:33.584441, 0] lib/util_sock.c:1441(get_peer_addr_internal)
getpeername failed. Error was Transport endpoint is not connected
read_fd_with_timeout: client 0.0.0.0 read error = Connection reset by peer.

[2011/03/20 17:58:59.403390, 1] smbd/service.c:678(make_connection_snum)
  create_connection_server_info failed: NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED

I can 100% confirm, that the logon user, is correct, and password is
correct.

The one strange thing I have noticed, that by default, connecting to the
linux box, or any other machine for that matter, would normall allow you
to see all the shares first, such as printers, etc. Then only when you
go into the folders, it would ask you for your credentials. What's
happening now, is that it asked for credentials immediately, the only
credentials that seem to work was root, but then to access the folders,
no credentials worked, even after I added root to those directory
permissions.

I tried the credentials on a XP machine, I could log onto the machine
(see all shared items), but couldn't access any folders.

config: http://pastebin.com/L5FiCaVg

Let me know if you guys need the complete log files or more config
files.

[Bug 461271] Re: zenmap not installed to menus properly

2011-03-21 Thread Bremm
Hello everyone,

The main problem with these files:

/usr/share/applications/zenmap.desktop
/usr/share/applications/zenmap-root.desktop

It's the wrong path declared inside them. When I edited them to get rid
this part in each (wrong) line:

/build/buildd/nmap-5.21/debian/tmp

They started to work properly. Until someone makes zenmap be policykit-
compliant, please at least fix the two .desktop files above.

Thank you in advance

[Bug 739297] [NEW] Please update nmap: stable upstream version is 5.51

2011-03-21 Thread Bremm
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nmap

As announced here: http://seclists.org/nmap-dev/2011/q1/518

Nmap 5.51 Released From: Fyodor fyodor () insecure org
Date: Fri, 11 Feb 2011 16:18:35 -0800

Hi folks! I'm happy to report that Nmap 5.50 has been a huge success,
with nearly 300,000 downloads in the two weeks it has been available!
That much attention inevitably uncovers some bugs, so I'm pleased to
release 5.51 to address them. Most of the bugs are pretty minor.

Nmap 5.51 source code as well as binary packages for Linux, Mac, and
Windows are now available at:

http://nmap.org/download.html

If you find any bugs, please let us know on nmap-dev as described at
http://nmap.org/book/man-bugs.html. We're not planning another stable
release in the near term, but you can inspire one by finding a big
enough bug :).

Here is the list of changes in 5.51:

o [Ndiff] Added support for prerule and postrule scripts. [David]

o [NSE] Fixed a bug which caused some NSE scripts to fail due to the
absence of the NSE SCRIPT_NAME environment variable when loaded.
Michael Pattrick reported the problem. [Djalal]

o [Zenmap] Selecting one of the scan targets in the left pane is
supposed to jump to that host in the Nmap Output in the right pane
(but it wasn't). Brian Krebs reported this bug. [David]

o Fixed an obscure bug in Windows interface matching. If the MAC
address of an interface couldn't be retrieved, it might have been
used instead of the correct interface. Alexander Khodyrev reported
  the problem. [David]

o [NSE] Fixed portrules in dns-zone-transfer and ftp-proftpd-backdoor
that used shortport functions incorrectly and always returned
  true. [Jost Krieger]

o [Ndiff] Fixed ndiff.dtd to include two elements that can be diffed:
  status and address. [Daniel Miller]

o [Ndiff] Fixed the ordering of hostscript-related elements in XML
  output. [Daniel Miller]

o [NSE] Fixed a bug in the nrpe-enum script that would make it run for
every port (when it was selected--it isn't by default). Daniel
  Miller reported the bug. [Patrick]

o [NSE] When an NSE script sets a negative socket timeout, it now
causes a controlled Lua stack trace instead of a fatal error.
Vlatko Kosturjak reported the bug. [David]

o [Zenmap] Worked around an error that caused the py2app bootstrap
executable to be non-universal even when the rest of the application
was universal. This prevented the binary .dmg from working on
PowerPC. Yxynaxen reported the problem. [David]

o [Ndiff] Fixed an output line that wasn't being redirected to a file
when all other output was. [Daniel Miller]

Enjoy the new release!
-Fyodor

[Bug 738968] [NEW] Can't See Parts of DFS CIFS Share

2011-03-21 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Binary package hint: gvfs

When connecting to a DFS share using Nautilus on Ubuntu 10.04, I can
only see part of the directory tree. Take the example of a share with a
DFS root at X, and sub directories A, B, and C all on different servers.
I can connect to X, and see A, B, and C, but directories A, B, and C are
all shown as empty. If I directly connect to X/A, then I can see the
files and directories in and below A.

Using smbclient directly from the command line gives the same behaviour.

I found this from several years ago: http://lists.samba.org/archive
/samba-technical/2007-April/052725.html. It seems to exactly describe my
issue, and suggests that it's because when you cross to another server
in the DFS hierarchy, smbclient re-authenticates (as it's supposed to)
but with the wrong credentials.

I can't find any responses to the above post.

The may be related to bug:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gvfs/+bug/475679.

[Bug 739447] [NEW] puppet-common: home directory `/var/lib/puppet' permissions issue

This is because the /var/lib/puppet directory has root:root permissions

Libvirt seems to start ok in the console, although I cannot use the

The problem seems to be a crash in dpkg only.

Unfortunately I cannot upgrade this machine yet, but if interested I can

[Bug 739495] Re: include in .ssh/config

2011-03-21 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
It seems like this is a bug that has already been reported to the
developers of openSSH. Please consider commenting in the upstream bug
(https://bugzilla.mindrot.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1585) and proposing your
patch, possibly integrating some of the work in the draft patch that is
already included there.

Looks like there are some extra changes too, so that might need to be
cleaned up.

[Bug 731976] Re: SAMBA - Can't access Windows 7 computer via SAMBA

2011-03-21 Thread André Madureira
I tested the issue with SMBNETFS and FUSESMB and it still happens...

** Tags added: apport-collected

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: samba

  Hello,

I have 4 computers in my home (mine is not included), being 2 of them
Windows 7 Ultimate and 1 of them Windows XP Professional and the other
one a Windows 7 Home Premium...

  PROBLEM:

I can access with my LINUX (Ubuntu 10.10 and Kubuntu 10.10) via SAMBA
the 3 computers in my home, but the other one (that is Windows 7
Ultimate) I can't, and I don't know why... The message that shows when I
try to access this PC is: Cannot connect to the pc CONCE-CPU.

  IMPORTANT:

I also have a Windows 7 Ultimate in my PC (I do a DUAL-BOOT with Windows
7 and Linux Ubuntu) that can access this computer and all of the others
as well... So, the problem is not in the remote PC and not in my
machine, it's a LINUX specific problem...

  DETAILS:

  My LINUX: Linux kernel 2.6.35-27-generic-pae; Ubuntu/Kubuntu 10.10 ;
  using most up-to-date  SAMBA ;

The Problematic Remote PC: Windows 7 Ultimate; Up-to-date (without SP1
of Windows 7); with AVAST (FREE - WITHOUT FIREWALL) and built-in Windows
  FIREWALL ENABLED;

--

PS: I have a Windows XP Professional at home that also have AVAST and
this SAMBA problem don't happen with it...

PS²: I can ping the problematic remote PC (with Windows 7 Ultimate) with
my LINUX if I use the IP of this problematic remote PC with the command
ping IP-OF-THE-REMOTE-PC (if I use the host name - that is CONCE-CPU -
instead of the IP, it don't answer to the ping because it shows the
error message ping: unknown host conce-cpu - the command syntax used
  was ping CONCE-CPU)...

  Thanks for your attention,

  André M.

[Bug 717243] [NEW] vlan interface won't start with ifup, can be started manually

2011-03-21 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Binary package hint: vlan

After rebooting my system yesterday, my vlan interface did not come up.
I know that update-manager had been upgrading packages several times
since the last reboot before that, but I don't know which ones were
updated. I have this in /etc/network/interfaces:

auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

auto eth0.20

this configuration had been working fine for several months before the
problem started. I see the following in syslog:

Feb 11 10:36:01 alexeyt dhclient: No DHCPOFFERS received.
Feb 11 10:36:01 alexeyt dhclient: No working leases in persistent database -
sleeping.

And indeed, if I do an 'ip link ls' in the time frame that dhclient3 is
trying to get a lease, I see that the interfaces are down:

$ ip link ls
1: lo: LOOPBACK,UP,LOWER_UP mtu 16436 qdisc noqueue state UNKNOWN
link/loopback 00:00:00:00:00:00 brd 00:00:00:00:00:00

link/ether 00:1e:4f:b3:18:db brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff

However, if I manually do:

sudo ifdown eth0.20
sudo ip link add link eth0 eth0.20 type vlan id 20
sudo ip link set eth0.20 up
sudo dhclient3 eth0.20

Then the interface comes up fine (I'm submitting this bug report through it :-)

Alexey, this indeed has nothing to do with NetworkManager.

If you just do:

Is the device properly initialized and brought up?

kernels since the problem began; I wanted to make sure that it's not a
kernel issue, so I rebooted with each of:

linux-image-2.6.35-23-generic
linux-image-2.6.35-24-generic
linux-image-2.6.35-25-generic
linux-image-2.6.35-27-generic
linux-image-2.6.35-28-generic

and I see the same symptoms under all of them.

Second, on one of the ~20 reboots since the problem started, the
interface came up OK and did not need to be started manually, so it
seems that the problem is intermittent.

Please let me know if I can do any more troubleshooting.

[Bug 737829] Re: Evolution se cierra cada vez que cierro un mail

2011-03-21 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these
instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can
be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable
apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the
crash report you wish to submit.
If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with
'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is
the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed
to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug
/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

2011-03-21 Thread Martin Bodin
Hi,
I’ve the same problem, but in my computer, the bug appears both weither there
is a 29th of February or not.
I’ve tried many dates, in February and other months in 2010, 2011 and 2012. It
seems that whenever I click on a date, it’s the one before that is displayed by
Evolution. (Including the beginning of the month.)
Hoping it will be helpful.

[Bug 719555] Re: hp photosmart 2600 pdf strange output

2011-03-21 Thread Till Kamppeter
Can you try out whether the problem still occurs when you switch from
the hpijs to the hpcups driver for your printer?

Start system-config-printer via System - Administration - Printing,
right-click the icon of your printer, select Properties, and click
Change at Make and Model. Click Forward on the screen for the
manufacturers and on the next screen change the driver by the list on
the right. Choose an entry which contains something with hpcups. Click
Forward until you reach the end of the wizard and Apply to close it.

Can you print your file from evince now?

Independent of the result of this can you try a live CD of Natty? Does
printing your file from evince work there out-of-the-box?

[Bug 739523] [NEW] indicators doesn't show menus correctly

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: unity

I have configured a extended desktop with two screens, 1 of 19'
(1440x900) and the other 21' (1920x1080). when you are trying to check
an option for example in audio indicator this seems like it though that

some indicator this show all options availables without putting an arrow
to up/down because I have a enough desktop resolution to do it.

[Bug 722185] Re: Regression: Does not list available WLAN networks (p54)

2011-03-21 Thread Jason Conti
Okay, I just built the kernel source from the linux-source-2.6.38
package using config-2.6.38-7-generic from the linux-
image-2.6.38-7-generic, only changing CONFIG_VERSION_SIGNATURE, booted
the new kernel, and the wireless connected successfully, so I am
stumped.

What could be the difference between the linux-image-2.6.38-7-generic package
and building a kernel with the config from that package and the
linux-source-2.6.38 package using:
make
make modules_install
cp .config /boot/config-2.6.38-jconti-09
cp System.map /boot/System.map-2.6.38-jconti-09
cp arch/x86/boot/bzImage /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.38-jconti-09
update-initramfs -k 2.6.38-jconti-09 -c

then booting the vmlinuz-2.6.38-jconti-09 kernel and
initrd.img-2.6.38-jconti-09?

[Bug 737603] Re: JNI unable to find libpam.so

2011-03-21 Thread James Page
Steve

So I tried out the patch (took some time to build ppa:james-page/junk)
and did some more digging when it did not appear to work.

I managed to capture a stacktrace when the issue occured:

java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: Unable to load library 'pam': libpam.so: cannot
open shared object file: No such file or directory
at com.sun.jna.NativeLibrary.loadLibrary(NativeLibrary.java:164)
at com.sun.jna.NativeLibrary.getInstance(NativeLibrary.java:237)

at com.sun.jna.Structure.(Structure.java:145)
at com.sun.jna.Structure.(Structure.java:141)
at com.sun.jna.Structure.(Structure.java:132)

So it looks like the issue (or maybe one of them) is actually in libjna-
java; I'm pretty sure that openjdk may exhibit the same symptoms but the
issue reading libpam.so is generated outside of openjdk.

I'll look into the specific library to see what its doing - suspect it
something horrible with guessed paths but it may be related to the
java.library.path variable.

By CurrentDmesg.txt, the warning is happening after resume from suspend,
and because tracing is enabled, see commit 5e38ca8 which seems to point
to same problem (tracing: Add unstable sched clock note to the
warning). That commit got reverted by another issue, but with/without
it the warning continues to trigger, but could be ignored in this case.

[Bug 739541] [NEW] Tomboy error: DoHighlight: null pointer error for ...

2011-03-21 Thread Andreas Jonsson
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: tomboy

When I run Tomboy from the command line (tomboy --debug) I often see one
or more errors of the following kind printed when I edit a note, e.g.:

[DEBUG 13:25:45.734] DoHighlight: null pointer error for 'pr'.
[DEBUG 13:25:45.734] DoHighlight: null pointer error for 'proper'.
[DEBUG 13:25:46.709] DoHighlight: null pointer error for 'pr'.
[DEBUG 13:25:46.709] DoHighlight: null pointer error for 'proper'.
[DEBUG 13:25:57.811] DoHighlight: null pointer error for 'andr'.
[DEBUG 13:25:58.649] DoHighlight: null pointer error for 'andr'.
[DEBUG 13:26:01.019] DoHighlight: null pointer error for 'tr'.
[DEBUG 13:26:01.849] DoHighlight: null pointer error for 'tr'.
[DEBUG 13:26:03.285] DoHighlight: null pointer error for 'tr'.
[DEBUG 13:26:03.991] DoHighlight: null pointer error for 'tr'.
[DEBUG 13:26:04.545] DoHighlight: null pointer error for 'tr'.
[DEBUG 13:26:04.896] DoHighlight: null pointer error for 'tr'.
[DEBUG 13:26:05.592] DoHighlight: null pointer error for 'tr'.
[DEBUG 13:26:06.215] DoHighlight: null pointer error for 'tr'.

These errors appear to occur only for some notes, and for the affected
notes, the errors only occur sometimes, depending on where in the note I
edit.

There is no loss of functionality as far as I can see.

If I create a new note, and edit it, the errors do not occur.
