[Bug 749983] [NEW] GSSAPI auth fails when incorrect reverse

Public bug reported:

After upgrading to 10.10 I can no longer log into a server with a

I have 'rdns = false' in my krb5.conf and 'GSSAPITrustDns no and i still get:

Checking the KDC log also verifies that ssh tries to use the reverse

[Bug 731976] Re: SAMBA - Can't access Windows 7 computer via SAMBA

2011-04-04 Thread Clint Byrum
Well it seems that something does get out of sync on windows 7 machines
that causes them to have trouble accessing samba. However, this doesn't
sound like a bug in samba, so I'm marking this one as Invalid.

Thanks so much to Andre and kwagga for all the work and feedback trying
to reproduce the issue!

[Bug 574665] Re: kvm + virtio disk corrupts large volumes (1TB).

2011-04-04 Thread Richard Neuböck
Thanks for this patch! I can confirm its functionality. I'm using a
(host) - hardware raid 1 - lvm - drbd [2TB] - (virtual machine)
setup that fails (corrupts filesystems) repeatedly using the stock qemu-
kvm implementation in lucid. After exchanging the the original qemu
packages with the patched ones everything works fine even after heavy

[Bug 740815]

2011-04-04 Thread Shaver
(In reply to comment #23)
Normal practice is to only ship generated files in the foo.tar.gz, not in
revision control. In the same way that firefox-4.0.source.tar.bz2 includes
 configure, but mozilla-central doesn't.

We used to have it in the tree when we were in CVS, and it's only the
more complex merge mechanics of hg that made us turn it off. We'd like
to have it back, because it obviates the need to have autoconf-2.13
installed for the vast majority of developers.

On my lucid system, which has the following PHP pacakges installed:
  libapache2-mod-php5, php-doc, php5, php5-cli , php5-common , php5-curl ,
php5-gd, php5-gmp, php5-pgsql

[Bug 623342] Re: ntlm_auth returns invalid NT_KEY

2011-04-04 Thread Aiko Barz
I had a closer look at those bug reports. And I found other people[1]
who mention that the patch from [2] is not enough. They use [3], which
is a configurable variant of [4].

On the other hand, Stefan Metzmacher says in [5], that we should try
Samba-3.5.8. Stefan Metzmacher is also the code reviewer from [2].

And I can confirm, that Ubuntu 11.04 with Samba-3.5.8~dfsg-1ubuntu1 runs
out of the box within my freeradius infrastructure:

Re: [Bug 741661] Re: Web UI does not work from default install (2.1.0~bzr-2009-0ubuntu1)l

2011-04-04 Thread Dustin Kirkland
Hi David,

Thanks for testing. Do you have any idea what that error/fault means?
 I'm unfamiliar with it.

Also, is this a 'regression' with the new upload? Or just a new issue
in that we're getting further into cobbler functionality now? ie, I
would like to upload what we have now, and continue burning down
issues like this incrementally, assuming that the current upload
hasn't actually *caused* this regression...

I suspect that this might have something to do with file and directory
permissions in /var/lib/cobbler/somewhere. Something probably needs
to be chmod'ed or chown'ed to www-data.

Dustin

[Bug 741661] Re: Web UI does not work from default install (2.1.0~bzr-2009-0ubuntu1)l

2011-04-04 Thread David Dyball
Hi Dustin,

Just in the process of testing on a fresh Natty install. I'll snapshot
my VM and try the same process with the ubuntu2 packages from natty and
then again with the packages from your PPA and confirm.

Judging from this:

http://www.mail-archive.com/cobbler-
de...@lists.fedorahosted.org/msg01200.html

I believe it is an issue with the latest upstream source. It appears to
have happened around the same time they moved to a form-based
Authentication for the login to cobbler_web.

More results to follow.

Cheers,
David.

At least to me, this bug was reproducible on beta version of 10.10.

I attempted to reproduce the issue without any luck. I think it can be
invalidated... if the user is still able to reproduce it, he can reopen
the issue.

Regards,

Fix for snippet/kickstart editing via the web interface, where a
'tainted file path' error was thrown

Seems to have been a dormant bug that didn't rear it's ugly head until they did
some unrelated changes. Apparently patched though, so perhaps you could apply
said patch and re-post some packages for testing?

Cheers,
David.

2011-04-04 Thread David Dyball
Just to confirm, this is a regression with the new upload in your PPA,
as the ubuntu1 packages (the ones that didn't setup the webUI correctly)
did not exhibit this issue.

Seems to be an upstream regression though.

[Bug 750371] [NEW] squid causing /var to stay busy during shutdown

2011-04-04 Thread ryokenau
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: squid

I'm running Ubuntu 10.04.2 LTS with latest version of squid
2.7.STABLE7-1ubuntu12.2. This is a default install - there have been no
changes to /etc/squid.conf.

When I shutdown or reboot the system, I get the following error:

 * Unmounting local filesystems...
umount2: Device or resource busy
umount: /var: device is busy.
(In some cases useful info about processes that use
the device is found by lsof(8) or fuser(1))
umount2: Device or resource busy
umount2: Device or resource busy
umount: /dev/mapper/vg01-usr busy - remounted read-only
[fail]

When the system starts up again, I can see the following message:

/dev/mapper/vg01-var: recovering journal

It appears the /var partition was not cleanly unmounted during shutdown.
Obviously, there is a risk of filesystem corruption here. FYI, i have
/var and other important mountpoints as separate partitions (using LVM
and ext4).

To confirm my suspicions of squid still running during shutdown, I
checked /var/log/squid/cache.log and there is no indication that it
received the signal to terminate. In fact, cache.log hints at this
problem while the system is being brought up again:

Rebuilding storage in /var/spool/squid (DIRTY)

Only when I manually run stop squid, then cache.log would report that
squid stopped successfully:

Preparing for shutdown after 0 requests
Waiting 30 seconds for active connections to finish
FD 14 Closing HTTP connection
Shutting down...
FD 15 Closing ICP connection
Closing unlinkd pipe FD 12
... skipped ...
logfileClose: closing log /var/log/squid/store.log
logfileClose: closing log /var/log/squid/access.log
Squid Cache (Version 2.7.STABLE7): Exiting normally.

To test whether /var was locked by squid during shutdown, I added a
script to run ls /var/run | grep squid and lsof | grep var before
filesystems are unmounted. And voila!

ls /var/run | grep squid:
squid.pid

lsof | grep var:
squid 971 proxy cwd DIR 251,44096 130613/var/spool/squid
squid 971 proxy 5u REG 251,4 13617 128678
/var/log/squid/cache.log
squid 971 proxy 7w REG 251,4 0 128724
/var/log/squid/access.log
squid 971 proxy 9w REG 251,4 0 128789
/var/log/squid/store.log
squid 971 proxy 11w REG 251,4 48 130308
/var/spool/squid/swap.state

Hence, the next system startup would result in /var recovering journal
again.

Finally, I tried running stop squid before issuing the shutdown
command and it successfully unmounts /var and I do not get /var
recovering journal on the next system startup.

[Bug 741661] Re: Web UI does not work from default install (2.1.0~bzr-2009-0ubuntu1)l

2011-04-04 Thread David Dyball
OK, just to clarify a bunch of stuff:

1) The original cobbler-2.1.0-0ubuntu1 packages worked once you
reconfigured the the cobbler_web.conf and re-created the symlinks

2) The cobbler_web.conf is /NOT/ fixed in cobbler-2.1.0-0ubuntu2. With
this package I still had to change the authz_configfile setting in
modules.conf and `chown www-data:www-data
/var/lib/cobbler/webui_sessions` before I could login.

3) Using the package in your PPA (cobbler-2.1.0-0ubuntu3~ppa1) the
install completes fine and the web-config is working out of the box.

** BUT **

The new bug concerning tainted file location errors now exists in both
the PPA:cobbler-2.1.0-0ubuntu3~ppa1 and cobbler-2.1.0-0ubuntu2 (current
in Natty).

I'll raise a new bug for the Tainted File Location. If you merge your
changes for the postinst/postrm and config files that should resolve
this bug.

There is a patch for the new bug, but that can be discussed separately.

Cheers,
David.

This appears to be a regression in the latest code for cobbler in
upstream (see initial reporting here: http://www.mail-archive.com
/cobbler-de...@lists.fedorahosted.org/msg01200.html) where the in-place
editor does not like handling files that don't begin with a /.

A patch has been released (http://www.mail-archive.com/cobbler-

Not sure if the decision will be to apply the patch to the Ubuntu
package, or wait for it to get put into upstream (seems serious enough
that it will be included though).

[Bug 705395] Re: $domain is not available in libvirtxml.tmpl

2011-04-04 Thread Serge Hallyn
I don't believe this bug is valid. I tested it by exploiting the fact
that '$domain' is used in /etc/vmbuilder/ubuntu/etc_hosts.tmpl. So, I
ran:

vmbuilder kvm ubuntu --suite=lucid
--mirror=http://localhost:3142/us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/
--config=my.cfg

where my.cfg contained:

[ubuntu]

domain = fakehallyn.com
hostname = myvm
=

The /etc/hosts on the resulting machine contained my entries.

In your example .cfg file, you have 'domain' under

[kvm/ubuntu]. Since you didn't show me your templates I can't be sure,
but I suspect you needed to use [kvm] or [ubuntu].

I'm marking this Invalid. If you feel I'm wrong about that, please re-
mark it 'New' and upload all your templates in a tarfile (so that I can
also see their hierarchy).

2011-04-04 Thread Dominik
Haven't checked if this is included too but the second Fix is also
(more) important for us (#11):

2) replaced restart squid with reload squid in /etc/resolvconf
/update-libc.d/squid.

Hopefully this is included too. If not squid will continue stopping
right after starting it. This is what I've noticed after I've set -D
in /etc/default/squid.

[Bug 750565] [NEW] Unable to attach an EBS volume

2011-04-04 Thread Carlos Perelló Marín
Public bug reported:

With Maverick's UEC / Euclayptus, there is no way to mount EBS volumes
because libvirt gives the error:

sdh uses scsi:1, rather than scsi:0.

The error and the patch applied upstream can be seen at:
http://osdir.com/ml/libvir-list/2011-01/msg01268.html

As you can see it's a single line change, the affected file for the
maverick version is: src/qemu/qemu_driver.c (seems like they did some
code refactoring on the version used on that email )

I applied the patch by hand, recompiled and installed it and the ebs
mount worked.

[Bug 589647] Re: snmpd starts (and dies) before network is up

2011-04-04 Thread Chuck Short
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. Unfortunately, we can't fix it because your description didn't include
enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs
effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be
grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.
We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.
At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport, either via the
appropriate application's Help - Report a Problem menu or using
'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more
about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

[Bug 668368] Re: Default [homes] share template uses incorrect %S macro.

2011-04-04 Thread Bryce Harrington
According to the upstream bug report:

To my understanding, %S (== the name of the service connected to) is
appropriate here, since the user connects to a share with name equal to the
user's name, so in this special case, %S is the same as the username.

So it is unclear if changing from %U to %S is actually appropriate here.
Please investigate further and re-subscribe sponsors when a more definitive
solution is identified.
