[Bug 768846] Re: autofs does not mount /net/host

The interesting part to not is, that when downgrading to kernel 2.6.35-30-server from 10.10 (Maverick) the problem instantly vanishes as you can see here: -- cut here -- langner@mars:~$ ll /net/cns2/ total 0 drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 0 Jul 30 15:12 NTOF drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 0 Jul 30 15:12 archive drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 0 Jul 30 15:12 astro drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 0 Jul 30 15:12 projects drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 0 Jul 30 15:12 user -- cut here -- Thus, I also suspect a kernel problem! [Bug 818534] [NEW] P5KPL Sound card distorced sound with ALSA
Public bug reported: Hello everyone, I am experiencing a bug that I never had before with alsa. Since one year I was using Arch Linux instead of Ubuntu (I love ubuntu but the bolt and the outdated packages... no for me), and all work, but when I update to Gnome3 I was experiencing a but with the sound applet. When I use the keyboard shortcut to level up the sound, instead of stopping at 100% the sound continues and the 100% is the 100%+14db boost. That had as effect to distorted the sound, and turning all the sound incompressible. So, because I didn't had the time to solve and I really want to come back to Unity again (I can't leave without it :S)... I was happy to not see the bug (because of the Gnome2 base). But since yesterday, I am experiencing the same bug, but in another way. Let me explain, when using the shortcut of the keyboard to control the sound, and go to the maximum of the bar, if I look at the sound applet I really see 100% so thats good... but if I launch alsamixer I see that he is using 100%+14db... and to have a good sound I have the put the Master at -40.25db. My english is horrible, so for you to understand clearly what I am talking about I made some pictures of my Ubuntu (PS : I have the same Ubuntu 11.04 in my Asus 1215N and the bug don't exist in there... the 100% for the Master (in alsamixer) is 0db (and not +14db), and the minimum is -65.25db (and not -40.25db). [Bug 818544] [NEW] Brother MFC-240C FAX/Printer error
Public bug reported: Before the extensive listing. I had the printer working fine through manually installing the printer drivers from the Brother software site since 9.10, and also for a HP printer. A couple weeks back, the universal printer drivers were changed on my Computer via a popup updater (damned thing). I tried removing everything, and re-installing the origional printers. One problem is most of the online help is for the older 10.10, and is always using menues that have been removed. I also busted out my linux manual and used the lpadmin, and manually configuring cups. The cups file looks fine, but constantly changes permissions every ten minutes to only allow root to access it. In addition I get the following error: lpinfo: cups-driverd failed to execute. cupsd: Child exited on signal 15! The main error printed starts like this: Cannot execute command due to filter stopping job because scheduler cannot execute filter ** Affects: linux-meta (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/818544 Title: Brother MFC-240C FAX/Printer error To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-meta/+bug/818544/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 805912] Re: firefox freezes computer every time it loads content
** Summary changed: - firefox completely hangs while loading ajax content + firefox freezes computer every time it loads content ** Description changed: - This has started happening after upgrading from Ubuntu 10.04 to Ubuntu - 10.10. I'm not sure the bug is in Firefox, but up to now I haven't seen - any other program affected. + Every time Firefox is loading content, no matter whether it is loading a + new page or it is loading ajax content _within_ a page, the whole + computer freezes during some seconds while the content loads. During + that time you can't open a new tab, nor type anything, nor even interact + with other programs. If you were typing, you will see all the characters + you have typed meanwhile appear all at once. - To reproduce: go to www.google.com and start typing a long search query + An example is when you go to google.com and start typing the search + terms. While you type them, every time the results are updated, the + computer freezes for some seconds. - Expected (and how it behaved before the upgrade): every once in a while - google's javascript scripts refresh the content of the page, the page - greys out while reloading content, but the browser itself NEVER stops - responding to mouse and keyboard input. The input textfield ALWAYS - responds and shows what you're typing, regardless of whether the content - below is being reloaded, and most important, the browser always responds - to interaction such as clicking on another tab. This is what used to - happen and what SHOULD happen. + This is a regression and this started happening just after I upgraded + Ubuntu 10.04 to Ubuntu 10.10. I had never had this problem before. - Observed behaviour (since the upgrade to 10.10): whenever the search - results are refreshed, the whole browser stops responding to keyboard - and mouse input while the content is loaded and the page is greyed out: - you stop seeing what you're typing, and most annoying, it doesn't even - respond to mouse clicks on other tabs and the like. This kills the A - in Ajax which means Asynchronous. It seems the whole browser is - completely blocked while performing Ajax requests. + This doesn't happen with other browsers. - I don't think this is a problem in google's javascript code, as this - only happens in Firefox and only since the upgrade. This does not happen - in other browsers. [Bug 775690] Re: Impossible to change the pointer
Just closing the window and changing the [Icon Theme] Inherits=Name_pointer does not help. Resizing the cursor, as shown in the out-4.ogv by Paolo shows that simply quitting the Customize dialog doesn't do anything to refresh the cursor. Also, rebooting doesn't seem to help, either (i.e. the workaround does not work in all circumstances). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/775690 Title: Impossible to change the pointer To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/775690/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
